This is a mid 60's amp made in the UK, mine is from 64 as far as I'm aware, running class A and B valves.
This isn't a complex amp, two channels 'Normal' and 'Bass' each with two inputs, normal and high gain as well as an echo loop.
Each channel has a volume, treble and bass controls with an overall presence control.
It will take any style I throw at it from jazz to metal.
It's simple but effective, no thrills means less to go wrong.
I use it at home, I haven't gigged it as it's got too much power for pubs.

Sound Quality : 10
I use a 87' jap strat, as well as a tele, and various humbucker toters, Lp's and prs etc through it all sound clean as glass, unless you make them dirty.
I play mainly funk, rock and jazz andthis amp was just beat to deal out non distorting clean tone.
It's noisy, but in terms of volume, a little hum indicating it's on but this doesn't colour its sound.
It will respond to any playing or effect nuance, it sounds best in mid volume clean/jazz clean territory.
If you crank it to full on all settings, at which point it is deafening, it starts to distort but never looses its sound this is not a clever thing to do.

Reliability : 10
It broke down once, due to a 50pence (35cent) slo-blo fuse, simply to replace.
I would gig it without back up, like I would be able to find another one anyway.

Never dealt with Selmer and couldn't as they're no longer trading.

I have been playing for over a decade, since I was 11, I have a Laney 120 World Series R, jap strat, texmex tele, cort jazz guitars etc.
Ide hunt high and low for one, but they're rare as hens teeth.
I choose the Laney to compare, similar power, but solid state, I've played it against similar valve marshalls and found it superior in tone, low it behaves like a voxac30 and high like a marshall.
I wish it had the snakeskin covers.
If you find one get it, you won't regret it one bit.

I don't know how old is this amp, but probably nearly twice as old as me...(I'm 23):)...It is enough versatile for me, because I play connected the treble and bass channels and there is a lot of variations...well not a lot of, but enough for me. It has four channels, two for the treble, two for the bass, if you connect the second treble, with the first bass you can combine the sound. It hasn't got channel switching, but i don't care, i use a Tech21 Double Drive for distorsion, and it's pretty well. No effects loops, headphone jack either, but who cares? I use it with a Marshall 4x12 300Watts cabinet, it has way too much power!

Sound Quality : 9
I use a strat with single coils, and this amp gets the best out of it! It as so crystal clear sound, it can cut your neck!:) You can't get a real valve distorsion out of it unless you crank up the bass channel, but it's too loud...!

Reliability : 9
I had this amp, just like the other guy with an original Mullard valve in it! After 40 years it was still working!!! Now my amp is at a the service, they will fully fix it, change everything, which has to be changed - not much, nearly just the valves...i can trust in it, i don't use a back up at gigs....

Never dealt with them...and i won't :)

I have been playing for 8 years, and if it were stolen, i would travel through the world to find it!!! I've only seen two amps like this (one is mine) so it's extremely rare stuff...

Selmer Tremolo Treble n' Bass 100: A late sixties 100W 2 channel tube amp with tremolo on the guitar channel. Ecc83 (12ax7) preamp and EL34 power section. Two inputs to each channel, two speaker outputs 3.5/7/15 Ohm. Guitar channel has bass, treble and volume controls in addition to tremolo. Bass channel has a bass control with four selectable frequencies (lables as filter slope - must have impressed marketing folks) and volume. A no frills amp!

Sound Quality : 8
I play bass and it really suits my 65' precision, giving a warm, soft, mellow "packed" sound. No thundering lows, but it works fine with a Fender showman cab (15" JBL D130f).

Reliability : 7
First of all, this amp has lasted fourty (40) years - some of the Mullard tubes as well! On the other hand, it has developed a crackling sound when knocked on or otherwise vibrated, so it needs service. I belive it will serve me just fine, as long as I take care of it.

Like all out-of-production/out-of-business amps, support is found on Plexi Place BBS and like places.

I've been playing for 13 years and this amp took over from an EBS bi-amped rig. I'm going old-school! The amp doesn't look as cool as other vintage amps, but it's a steal, giving vox/marshall quality at a fraction of the price. The sound is clearly vintage tube, but has a character of its own.

Early seventies monstrosity in the black steel chassis with grey front, two channels, treble with excellent switchable tremelo and bass and treble controls, bass with odd shelving controls called envelope slope and envelope. I bridge the two channels to run 100 watts of tube POWER when I bought it it had the original Mullards in but they were totally shot had the whole lot retubed for a pretty penny but well worth it. not terrible versatile but extremely good at what it does. No channel switching, or effects loop but then I don't know what I'd do with them anyway.

Use it with a deamrond jetstar (2 HBs) great sound very rich clean, haven't had it up loud enough for natural overdrive (and we rehearse pretty loud bass player uses an SVT III), for that I use a boss os2 and a big muff. Had a few problems but had it modified so that it had a standby switch which cured a few buzzes and hums that developed when it was left on. I also use it with an MIJ jazzmaster sometimes which it copes with well considering teh dodgy pick ups. I also play bass (fender musicmaster) through it. I ditched the original cab' (a selmer 1x15) and use a marshall 4x12 for guitar and a trace elliot 4x10 for bass. The sound is great warm and not HI FI clear like some new bass amps, the tremelo is also brilliant particualrly if yuo bridge the channels i just seems to lift it a bit more. Someone offered to trade me a marshall super bass for it recently but I like the fact that it's ugly and wierda dn I haven't seen many around.

Reliability : 5
I've had it for six months and not gigged it due to a few issues I had with it, I am now assured that it is in tip top shape by the local amp fixer bloke who had never seen a 100 watt model before only the 50's. He suggested pulling a few tubes in it for playing guitar to allow for natural overdrive but then looked into it and figured it wouldn't take kindly to that. I also had a solid state rectifier put in to give the tubes a bit longer life. But I am still not certain, I rehearse with it twice a week though an no trouble in the alst three months, fingers crossed.

Love it bought it from a second hand store, I actually wanted a new bass cab but ended up getting this for guitar rather than borrow my bandmates VS100R. I compared to a roland JC50 but that had nowhere near as much headroom as this, this is a great gigging rock amp. I play wierd alternative pop sonic youth/ mogwai/ My bloody valentine. The clean sound you get from this is a brilliant starting point for any type of sound I usually use my jetstar, or the jazzmaster, with a boss overdrive into a big muff and a small stone (reissues). The only thing I wish it had was reverb but the tremelo is pretty amazing so I guess I should get a memory man or something... I also use it to play bass and I have finally sold my Peavey solid state 200 watt head to my mind this more than makes up for it, the bass sound is so warm compared to that. I only wish the drummer agreed with me. Although it was cheap it did cost alot ot get it running right but I love the sound of it now and I flogged the peavey and the selmer cab at a profit so you can't get too hung up on it
