I have one of these amps,it looks (and sounds!) like a great alternative to a Marshall JTM45. The Selmer MK II has a tube rectifier, like a JTM45.
I disconnect a wire inside from what is called a 'negative feedback loop' and I obtain amazing sounds, read below!

I can get sounds from AC/DC and back to Hendrix, with this amp; the mod described above is very minor (only a cut wire!) but the results are AMAZING!!! now it's more Marshall thasn a Marshall!

Late 60's early 70's. Just a basic two channel head. Bass channel and Normal channel each with treble and bass and volume knobs. It's all you need for a good clean sound, and a great overdriven sound when wound up.

Bass channel is quite deep, a little woolly sounding (but that could be because of the age of the valves - old Tungsram jobbies). It is usable for 6 string guitar though because it is very mellow and jazzy. The treble channel is very bright. Some people have written negative comments about the amps brightness on this channel - but hey ! Ever thought about rolling back the treble control? Better still link the two channels with a jump lead and you have a truly superb sound where you can conrol the amount of treble and bass by simply adjusting the channel volumes. S'easy.
When fully cranked using a Strat the amp is still ostensibly clean sounding, a nice blues overdrive maybe. You only have to roll it back a couple of notches and the lovely clean sound returns. WIth a les paul the sound is amzing - shades of Kossoff.
There are a few crackles and pops - maybe it needs a service. I have only just bought it

Only just bought it so I cant comment here. They are all point to point wired. It is about 35 years old so it must be quite reliable otherwise it would have been dismantled and used as spares.

I have been playing over 30 years and this is one of the nicest sounding amps I have heard. I also own a Mark IV boogie, Fender 65 Deluxe, Marshall Lead and Bass head (1974) and an excellent Laney PA head (1970's with partridge transformers).
A 100% valve amp for two hundred quid is a real bargain - why buy new?
