This amp has a bare minimum of knobs. Treble, bass and volume on the top side. doug put a master controll on the back and a reverb knob as well. The two tone controlls interact with each other like they are in love. The amp can do a bunch of tones. And with the master it adds another dimension to tweak freaks.

I have a few guitars and I use them all with this amp. Les Pauls sound like a large home boy kicking down the door. I use a couple of strats, a tele, a P90 Les Paul as well. All guitars sound very individual thro the Tverb. Its amazing! I have a Bogner 2x12 Shiva with reverb and I always thought the Bogner was the best at getting my guitars to sound natural.......you could really hear distinction with the Bogner. But the Tverb takes guitar sounds to another place the Bogner just doesn't quite reach. The string definition is spectacular even when your blasting the paint off the walls. Did i say how LOUD this fifty watt amps is? Dudes, it hurts to open the Tverb up and let it run. The sound men I have been around love this amp. It just doesn't have a bad tone in it. The 15" speaker is a Weber and I must say, I love what the Weber does with Dougs tone circut. When Doug first shipped the amp to me it did not have the master. I thought the amp was spetacular then but after sending it back to Doug and having the master installed, things changed. The amp began to hang on to the notes and the break up I can now dial in is a thing of beauity. The tube compression of this amp is nothing short of amazing. The reverb is so subtle in the lower settings. You play a note and the verb fills the room but not in an offensive way. Its like you hear the note very distinctly but its sort of wrapped in the reverb. Hard to explain...but there is so much reverb here if you need it.it blows away the verb in my Bogner. I must say that Doug has come up with some sort of nasty animal with the master on this amp. I can dial in a little grit or I can go into the finest sounding fender type distortion you have ever heard........with balls for days. It is a true joy to play this amp. But don't open it up in a small room cause your ears will be ringing for a few days.
I should stop.......but let me say that I get the best chime when I'm playing clean sounds..fingerstyle passages just leap from the amp. I usually use a touch of verb and a H&K Delay for clean tones. It puts a smile on my face. Every pedal I have tried with the Tverb sound better than they do through my other amps. I should mention that I have had Bogies, VHT's, a big Ampeg V9, Vox, and a few other beasts. Doug builds amps that equal anything out there and are better than most of them. And as soon as i can afford to have Doug build a two channel custom for me, the Bogner is going to gather lots of dust. Truth is, its gathering dust as I speak.

Reliability : 10
I have no fear about this amp. I have never taken a back up amp with the Tverb.

There is no one I have met in the amp business like Doug Sewell. He is truly a prince among men. I completly trust this guy to keep his word. So much so that as soon as I recieved the Tverb, I sent him off a check for the full amount for a Tplex and never doubted that he would send the amp when it was completed. When I called him with questions and If I didn't get to talk with him right away, he called very soon there after. He even returned one of my calls while he was on vacation in Montana. You will not find a finer human to deal with anywhere this side of heaven.

I have been playing about 37 years now. I have two Sewells....a Tverb and a Tplex. Plus a 65 Super and the Bogner Shiva. Both the Super and the Shiva are great amps as well but you have to play a Sewell to see why people who own them are so in love with thee amps. If I lost either amp I would be on the phone to Doug right away. I love the tones the most but these amps are stunningly beauitful to look at. If your looking for a super tone machine that is built for you give Doug a call. He can do some magic!
