Shawnee Custom is one of only about 3 or 4 custom cabinet makers that i could find on the web. i had tried making my own cabinet for a celestion G12 century and had failed miserably 8D This cabinet is made from 7-ply voidless birch plywood. it is glued, screwed, and had no structural flaws whatsoever. i wondered when purchasing this cabinet if it would be suitable for both a jazz sound and a hard rock sound and i was amazed at exactly how well it sounded both ways. sometimes it's hard to get the proper amount of "oomph" out of a 1x12 to really use it for anything hard. The cabinet has three back panels which are removable so if you wanted more of a open jazz sound, you could remove the middle and/or bottom panels and let her ring. it has two input jacks wired in parallel if you actually needed that with a 1x12. i told Ross at Shawnee that i was interested in a custom color for the vinyl covering and also that i wanted the vox style grill cloth. he sent several choices in the mail free of charge and i got YELLOW! hee hee. it's the only yellow guitar cabby i've ever seen, but it looks kewl. the speaker hole has inset t-nuts (i think they're called) and Shawnee supplies the mounting bolts, so the speaker just popped right in and i was playing in no time.

i use this cabinet for a variety of styles, but mostly a tone that would be somewhere inbetween John Scofield and Rich Robinson. 8D
The cabinet had an amazing effect of smoothing out resonant frequencies that i had noticed my rig having difficulty with in earlier cabinet attempts. i like to play a lot of fast, clickety, funky rhythm (ala Avi Bortnick) so i like this attribute. i have also cranked up the gain and blasted the cabinet to try to get it to rattle. NO RATTLES HERE, FOOLS! just good sound.

No Opinion
i've only had the cabinet for a week or so. i can only speculate from inspecting the craftsmanship that was used in the making of this cabinet that it will be around for a long time.

My experience with Shawnee, from the time i sought info until the cabinet arrived on my side porch, Ross & company were absolutely nothing but helpful. e-mail correspondence was usually same day and i was never left hanging.

i have been playing guitar for about 10 years. i have played through a variety of cabinets. there are some mass produced cabinets that are not bad, but, i will guarantee you, they are not made with the kind of skill and attention to detail that this cabinet is. They couldn't make their bajillions if they had to make a cabinet like this every time. hats off to Shawnee Custom.

The cab features an open/closed back design so you can tailor your cab for the sound you want. High quality solderless speaker connecters allow easy speaker swaps for further tone variations.
I bought this cab to use with my ZVex nano head in my home recording studio, and with the installed Celestion G12H 30 watt speaker it fits the bill perfectly. This cabinet sings! With a higher wattage speaker installed, this cab would work equally well in a live setting.
It is a fantastic looking cabinet and the workmanship is aboslutely top notch. These cabinets are hand built from only the best components.
It is green tolex with a vox style diamond grill cloth. GORGEOUS!

Awesome! Ross worked with me every step of the way to make sure I had exactly the cabinet I wanted, both looks and sounds wise. I'm positive I can count on him to help me with any (highly unlikely) problems I might ever encounter with the cab.

I did a lot of looking around before buying, and I'm positive you can't find a classier cabinet for the money. As a matter of fact, I'm not sure you can get a nicer speaker cabinet at any price.

Blonde tolex covered cabinet with brown/oxblood grill cloth and flame maple trim.
I purchased the cabinet unloaded and I'm currently using it with a Celestion Vintage 30 in closed-back mode. Besides the elegant hardwood trim and the other top quality cosmetics, this cabinet has several great features:
1. It comes with pre-wired paralell jacks so hooking up an extension speaker is easy.
2. The removable back center panel is a great feature. I can go from closed-back Marshall tones with a Vintage 30 to open back Fender with a Jensen or Weber in about 15 minutes.
3. The components are, without exception, top quality. The cabinet is solid and heavy and I could find no gaps, voids or cosmetic flaws.

There are no discernable resonant peaks. The solid construction results in a complete absence of rattles, buzzes r other objectionable noises even when driven at high volume levels. As noted above, the cabinet can be used in either open or closed back mode giving you a wide range of available sounds.

I've corresponded with Ross via e-mail. He is very approachable and helpful. When I ordered the cabinet, he went out of his way to send me updates, tracking numbers, etc. He also answered all of my questions promply. I can't wait for the 2x10 cabinets to become available.

I've been playing for over 25 years. I'm using hte cabinet with a Dr. Z MAZ 18 head and a Celestion Vintage 30 speaker. I'll also be trying it in open-back mode with a Weber Blue Dog.
Ross' cabinets are beautifully made, both cosmetically and structurally. I haighly recommend them. Buy one now before Ross realizes how under-priced they are!
