Very nice birch and curly maple are used in the construction. They come in different colors and grill styles to match most popular amps. The best materials are
used for connections and wiring, etc. The hefty vinyl covering is fully glued on unlike most others which use adhesive which is quicker but inferior. Big rubber feet
make stacking safe and skid free. It come with wiring diagrams for all combinatons of speakers. Screws, Nice cloth covered wire, and hardware are included.
Speakers were very easy to install. Everything fits together perfectly. I haven't gigged with it yet but speaker cabs are no brainers.

The quality of the 3/4" birch plywood used and the way the cab is tuned really bring out beautiful tones on my Strat and My PRS. I haven't tried experimenting
with the opened and closed back option. I'll wait to bring it to the gig for that. That does sound like a nice option to have on a guitar cab because some people like
more bottom end than others. I heard the Allman Bros. used Marshall cabs but they cut out part of the back, maybe to sweeten up the tone.
It seems to work well for the various styles I play, beachy country, blues, rock, etc. I'm sure metel heads can put their Celestions in and blaze! I was lucky enough
to snatch up two vintage EV 12's from the sixties in great shape. They really sparkle in this cabinet. It's impossible to find EV 12's that are only 30 watts anymore.
Two of them and a 40-50 watt amp sounds better to me than the normall 300 watt, newer EV's.

Like I said previously, I haven't taken this cab on the road yet. I'll be able to tell you how sturdy it is in a couple months because it will get used and bumped
around plenty. It seems to be extremely ruggedly constructed from the inside out. Ross uses voidless 3/4" birch plywood and a nice piece of curly maple on the
front so I can tell it's built to last forever. He also uses over 80 screws and some kind of special tung and groove joints with the best glue available. I can't see how
it would ever come apart.

Shawnee is a new company and the customer support is very hands on. I have a feeling the company will catch on and get very busy so I hope Ross has time to be
as nice to everyone in the future as he was to me. I even got a hand-written note with the shipment. I'm going to hold on to that in case he hits the big time! 20 years
from now it might be like having a hand-written from Leo Fender or something.

Standard Shawnee Custom 2x12 unloaded, in black tolex and wheat grill cloth. The only distinguishing feature is a mono/stereo switchable input jack that Ross installed especially for me. This allows me to run in mono 4 Ohm or stereo 8 Ohm with Celestion Vintage 30's that I installed myself. Please see the website for specs and construction details. It is a very well made, very attractive, very reasonably priced cabinet.

I primarily use a Groove Tubes Soul-O 75 head with this cabinet in 4 Ohm mono mode. The amp simply sounds fantastic through this cabinet. I also have a GT 1x12 cabinet which I use occasionally on gigs (I have yet to use the Shawnee 2x12 live -- I can't wait!), which sounds very good. However, the 2x12 is so rich, resonant and of course, big sounding, yet it is also very focused -- I am thrilled with this cabinet! I've played through 4x12's in the past (with some other very good amps, including Hot Cat 30, Bogner Shiva, Roccaforte HG 100), but can't imagine wanting anything larger than this 2x12.

Ross at Shawnee was very responsive and helpful in processing my order. He researched the specs on both the Soul-O 75 and the previous 2x12 that I owned to insure that I was going to achieve the sound that I was looking for. He also provided very helpful installation instructions for the Celestion Vintage 30's that I canibalized from a very dead sounding Johnson Amplification 2x12.

I've been playing for 10+ years and play professionally. I have played through many different amps and cabs in my quest for tone and can say without reservation that Shawnee sells a very well constructed, reasonably priced product that performs precisely as it should.

Hand-built 2x12 birch plywood cabinet. Slightly larger than an early 60's Fender 2x12 cab. Mine was done in Fender-style black tolex, wheat grillcloth, white piping, and a BEAUTIFUL quilted maple panel on the front. These look sort-of like a Vox AC-30, but with whatever custom features you want. Mine came unloaded so I could install two 12" Naylor Special Design 50's in it (like a Jensen C12N). I use it with my home-made Bassman 5F6-A head to play rockabilly music. This cab is well-suited for rockers too. Possibly the greatest feature is the back panel that can be used as either closed or open-back. All the joints are very tight and strong with no detectable buzzes or rattles. This is a VERY versatile cabinet that makes my Gretsch sound nice and chunky in the closed-back mode.

This cab is very well-suited for all styles, but I think it really shines in closed-back mode for big-bodied rockabilly, ala Brian Setzer. It sounds much like an early 60's Fender cab, but with a bigger, tighter bottom end. Open-back mode is nice and airy, but also sounds very big. If you close your eyes, this really does sound like a 4x12.

No buzzes or rattles, built very solid.

Ross is like your own personal custom cab builder who is always available by phone or email. He truly goes the extra mile to make sure you're happy with your purchase. Not snobby in any way, he is a great representative of one of the most friendly, beautful places in the world - southern Illinois.

This cab looks as good as it sounds. I would definately buy another one. Compared to other products for a similar price, this is a real steal. I'm glad I got one before the public at large starts to discover them. The thing that really sets these cabs apart is the look of the figured maple. This adds a touch of class that other builders would add on an extra $500 for. If you buy one, do yourself a favor and take a little trip to Cobden, Illinois to meet Ross and take in the scenery.

Purchased in July, 2003. The spec's are as follows (also checkout their website, www.shawneecustom.com. Mine is the 2nd one pictured!)
- 2x12 dimensions: 31? x 21? x 11?
- 7-ply, ?? voidless birch cabinet
- 9-ply, ?? Baltic birch baffles
- Convertible open/closed back design
- Striking lacquered flame maple panel
- Top quality hardware throughout
- Tolex, panel, grill cloth and piping in numerous custom color
configurations
- Available unloaded, or with premium Classic Series Celestion
speakers
The interesting thing about this 2X12 is that it is the approximate size of a combo (at least as large at my mesa boogie road king combo). The flame maple panel looks AWESOME and just really adds a touch of class to what would normally be (at least from all of the other cabinets I've seen) a boring piece of equipment. This has become the most asked about piece of equipment I have (and believe me I have a ton).
I purchase this as picture on the site with the Celestion Greenbacks (8 ohm).

Holy smoke!!!! This cabinet not only looks incredible but sounds even better. As compared to my other cabinets and equipment the Shawnee Custom sounds far superior. I believe that the oversized dimentions definately enhance the sound.
I play a lot of different styles of most and this cabinet covers them all. All I have to so is plug whatever head I'm going to use and I'm good to go.

This item is built like a tank. Excellent workmanship and overall construction. I haven't had this long but feel that it will provide a lifetime of enjoyment.
I have to give no opinion in this area since I've only had it a few weeks.

Ross is great! Very easy to work with and talk to. He bent over backwards to ensure that I was happy with my purchase. Initially I wasn't sure what color piping I wanted so he sent me pictures of the cabinet with 3 or 4 different colors of piping so that I could pick the one I liked the best. Now that's customer service! If I could give him an 11 I would.

I paid a $534 (shipping included) for a great cabinet. I did a lot of shopping around and this was by far the best I could find. I've been playing for 17 years and have a large array of equipment and this cabinet has become my centerpiece that everyone asks about. If it were lost or stolen I would definately buy another...and another...and another.
