Features : 8
this is essentially a 1457 chassis coupled with a single p.u. danelectro, which i do not have. sears sold this as the "rhythm guitarist's" package. appearantly, the rhythm players wanted the better 5 watt amp w/ tremolo.
thats the featureset here...volume, tone, strength and speed. two inputs, one footswitch jack. 8" speaker, 3.2ohms.

for anyone who doesn't know...power tube is 6v6gt, preamp and tremolo are a pair of 12ax7, rectifier is a getting-harder-to-find 6x4. all original silvertones in mine.

Sound Quality : 10
as i said, completely original, so there is a tiny bit of scratch when you turn the pots (since fixed with a little cleanup). i'm thinking either my trem tube is starting to part ways with this world, or i might need to replace a few caps...speed starts of sort of fastish, then just gets too fast. but still...tube trem. its not a magnatone, but its not a 20 dollar stomp box.
tone knob takes from bright jangle all the way down to muddy mush.
fully dimed, i get nice bluesy crunch breakup...needs a pedal for metal, but we'll get into that area when i throw down the fender blender on it! hah!!!

basically...its a 5 watt tube amp from '63. put a mic on it and sound beautiful.

Reliability : No Opinion
okay...again i put the emphasis on this being a cheaply built amp from '63, and it still works very well with the slightest of maintanance. this is my main gigging amp, however i have blasphemed against the purists by ripping the bugger from its cardboard case and installing it into a gigantinormous cabinet from an old rca victor hi fi (i only had the speakers..wish i had the console!). being in the cabinet has given this little chassis a whole new life, a whole new sound (unlike anything else i've heard...almost ghostly), and it looks wicked weird with my homebuilt franken-jazzmaster and my (ten "d" battery powered!!) weirdo portable vocal p.a.

Customer Support : No Opinion
uhhh...the guy i bought it from on ebay was fairly communicative...

Overall Rating : 10
i have been playing for 20+ years. i've owned and sold and lost and found more varieties of oddball gear than i could possibly hope to catalogue here.
it won't be lost or stolen, as i've a keen eye and am a fine shot!
i chose this one because it was 112 dollars shipped, and it has trem, and i adore the silvertone tone.
i wish it had female reproductive organs, or eyes so it could appreciate the flowers i would give it.
share? get your own damn amp!! mine's no swinger...
