I have two of these cabinets. One is a standard closed back cabinet made in 2008 in red tolex. The other is the same except it was custom buit with an open back in 2009. I use it playing in two bands, non-professional, but we play out about twice a month in clubs, private parties, etc.

The closed back cabinet sounds great and has a better bass sound. Like all closed back cabinets, it throws the sound in a very straight out direction. So straight, in fact, that it was difficult for the other band members to hear the lead guitar. If you stand in front of it, it can be very loud, but even slightly to the side (on stage), it can be hard to hear. So I had Soldano build me a custom open back cabinet and I now run both. It sounds great, there is enough volume being thrown out of the open back cabinet that it can be heard on stage, and it looks awesome. Stacking the cabinets helps me hear much better, too.

My 2X12 was customer ordered in Red, Alligator-skin, tolex from Solidbody Guitar, in Mounds View MN. The cab was ordered empty and we installed Celestion Vintage 30 spks. in her. The cab is set up for mono and stereo operation (8 ohm mono, 16 stereo)I honestly, sold an early 70's marshall 4X12 after playing this cab out. Every different head I run through it, including Fender, Laney's, carvins, and of course, my Hot-Rod XL, sound better than anything else I can find. Truly Amazing!! I did not give it a 10, only because it might not be the best cab for Country or jazz, they seem to like open back style cabs for that style, but just being fair.

The Cabinet was built in 2001 with Marine Birch, the cab came with
the Soldano X12000 spkrs (Eminence) front loaded with removable Grill, Mono. Black Tolex with metal corners, top handle, rubber feet, 8 Ohm. The spkrs were later replaced with Celestion Vintage 30's.

The cabinet is being used with my SLO, after changing the power tubes to KT66's the fuller tone was more balanced! also when I use My
Astroverb the tone is Awesome!!! both amps sound different but Incredible, I went through a number of cabs in the past(Bogner/VHT) etc. They all have there own thing going on, but with my experience not every cab Mic's up good, sound wise. But the Soldano's are THE BEST! After just getting rid of my Bogner Ecstasy Classic which is a very good amp but not great, not in the same Class with the Soldano's!
I've gone back to one of the best, from clean to rock the tone is wonderful! Very easy to transport, perfect Cabinet.

I've been playing for over 25yrs, I have purchase, traded & sold many
pieces of equipment, I've own so many amps from great makers, but the Soldano 2X12 projects with overall warmth, very wood like, great balance, where as my Bogner 2X12 sounded to Dark(with the XTC-C)so I had to get rid of that fast! The Greatist for me is SOLDANO.

2x12 cabinet, closed back, made of all birch plywood (not particle board like the Marshall 1936), front loaded with Eminence Legend speakers (American made with British cones), 8 ohms

I run a Soldano HR50+ head through this cab, playing a Fender American Deluxe Fat Strat. I don't use too many effects, but I occasionally use an Electro-Harmonix Small Clone chorus, and sometimes an MXR Micro Amp for boosting leads. This cab sounds great! The Eminence Legend speakers suprised me and actually sound really good (think about it...would Soldano put bad speakers in their cabs?) It perfectly copliments the Hot Rod 50+, so would therefore most likely go great with all the other Soldano heads (except maybe the Reverb-o-Sonic which might go better with the semi-open design).

I'll be gigging with it for the first time this Friday, but I know I can rely on it. It's built very well, and I can't see it falling apart any time soon.

I e-mailed Bill Sundt at Soldano many times before purchasing my head and cabinet, and he was always very quick to respond and extremely helpful.

I've been playing for about 5 years and have had enough experience with amps to know that this is a great sounding cab. If it were stolen or lost, I would with buy it again or just buy the Soldano 4x12. I might eventually replace the Eminence Legends with Celestion Vintage 30s, but the Eminence's defintely sound great. I highly recommend this cabinet to anyone looking for an awesome 2x12.

used with a hot rod 100 and a fender tonemaster.
dreadful thin sounding cab, i speaker went after about 40 uses.
speaker needed reconing. but changed for celestion vintage 30s. now very good. hot rod 100 sounded better through other cabs (tonemaster cab, good marshall cabs, booie 1x12)before.

too expensive in the UK for the sound. well built, crappy speakers (in my opinion)many other cabs at 1/3 the price sound better.
with celestions sounds good, pretty cab and sturdy.
