I own 2 JMP's a 50 & 100 watt early '70's, a mesa mkIII, a '75 super reverb 4x 10, a 74 quad reverb, and a small collection of SS amps, and the Soldano holds it's head HIGH amongst the selction, while seeming "bullet- proof"
HARD TO FIND ONE USED!!
Definite go to amp for quick great tone no matter the guitar, or player.

This two channel amp has gain and master levels for both channels and an EQ section that runs both. EQ includes bass, mid, treble and presence. Effects loop and channel switching jack 'round back. 4x10 open back design. A very asthetically pleasing amp to look at, genuine simulated snake skin w/black and white trimmings

I will start with some of the positive aspects. This amp makes playing fun with an interesting tube compression that covers up a multitude of sins. You can hit it hard or soft and you receive about the same compressed note. This is bad if you are an articulate type of player who likes to finess the fret board but if you enjoy ballsy rock aka marshall-esq tones and you want an amp that goes to eleven, this amp can dish it out and keep you well balanced with the other members of the band. An even better practice amp! Mixes well with compressed recordings. The presence knob opens up more of the undesirable top end sizzle/buzz which makes this amp annoying at times, they could remove this altogether. The sound is definately not 3-D. You wont hear your fingers on the fret board and you probably won't notice a big difference in what kind of guitar/ pickup combo you plug in. That is why it loves an Ibanez as well as a Tom Anderson. Don't look for a glassy clean channel with sparkle for your strat and don't expect smooth overdrive like Santana or Johnson but it will crunch and grind for rock and roll and almost twang if it had any bass, which this amp does not (see previous reviews and ask yourself why all the bass mods done on this amp?...hmmmmm.) Yet there is something very satisfying about the grind. Neither marshall nor fender but a bred apart. Its definately soldano and it does one thing right. If all you want to do is R O C K then this amp might be for you Not a versitile amps at all but well built. I would recommend finding a used one as they are pricey for what you get. Many boutique amplifiers are only a few dollars more and can dish out several different sounds by just changing the volume knob on the guitar. Lastly if you spend alot of money on your pedals and would like them to sound their best this is not the amp for you. Because of its lack of clarity, depth and articulation in its voicing your pedals will not sound 3-D dimentional either. Just better plug in a guitar straight and wank because this practice amp can do that.
