This amp features volume control, bass control, treble control, distortion control (allthough isnt that effective its has a nice blues jazzy tone) and a very good reverb control. it has 2 inputs high and low so you could easily run a mic through it and it would sound good. The only problem is the company who made the amp went out of buisness 20 odd years ago so it would be hard to get parts.

Sound Quality : 10
I mainly play punk and Metal and using my Marshall JH-1 Jackhammer distortion pedal its is very very beefy its is reall loud considering its my practice amp as i dont have a giging amp as im not in a band. The only downfall is when it isnt distorted its can be alittle quiet

Reliability : 9
I've had the amp ages it doesnt nees sevicing allthough i am missing the treble knob wich is such a shame because it is such a good amplifier

This amp isn't very versatile, but what it can do is excellent. There is two inputs, hi/lo, and controls for bass, treble, reverb, volume and overdrive. There is an input for headphones (mono), a footswitch (which I dont have and haven't found), and a 'slave out', which is basically a direct output.

The built in reverb is excellent, very vintage sounding, and can be switched on and off via a footswitch, which I dont have because I bought the amp second-hand. This is a problem, because the reverb is brilliant and is going wasted in a live situation because you can't switch it on and off.

I play a Fender Mex Strat (3 singlecoils), with a Boss HM-2 Distortion pedal and a Dano Chorus.

The amp is best used as a clean/slight overdrive, getting your distortion through a pedal. Although your options are limited, the amp sound is awesome. With volume and overdrive on full, it produces an amazing just overdriven quality that is unique, vintage and almost funky.

Thats by using a bridge pickup, if you switch to the neck it produces a bright, bluesy cleaner sound that works as a brilliant clean channel, though switching pickups mid-song isnt the best option.

With distortion pedal, it produces a viscious, unique 'vrooom!' sound thats a delight to behold. As long as you have other sound options through pedals, its a special amp.

It is, however, quite noisy, but I am using singlecoils. Also, when turned up, its on the limits of gig levels, but just about does it.

I play grungey, punkey alternative rock, and this amp gives you a different, and brilliant variation of sound. Better than any other amp I've used.

Reliability : 9
I gig without a backup, and have never needed one. The amp is pretty old, but cant fault its reliability.

Sound City went out of buisness in the seventies, so contacting them would be impossible. That makes the amp at least 25 years old, a bonus in my opinion.

Then again, I have never needed to contact the company, although the aforementioned footswitch would be nice.

At #50, a bargain, an absolute steal. Amazing sound, though limited, very unique.

If it was stolen, I'd be very upset, and my bands sound, been giging for bout six months, would be devastated.

I love everything about this amp, though more power would be nice, as it sometimes struggles at gigs.
