This is the Electro-Harmonix version of the Sovtek 4x10. The cab's features include: a slanted front, Russian pine construction with finger-jointed corners and solid carved recessed handles, a cane-like grill, and 4-50 watt Eminence speakers. I rewired the cab stereo. One important point if you are considering this cab--the finish is natural and not as red as the web photo would have you believe.

Obviously, the only way to really tell how a cab sounds is to try different amps and see what frequency it consistently produces. At first, I feared that the cab was making those dreadful 200Hz honky mids. Trying a different power amp proved it wasn't the cab at all. I can say this cab produces a very tight and responsive sound and accurately reproduces a wide range of frequencies. Because of the deep design, the lows are there too. I don't believe the only reason why the lows are present is because its solid wood, either. The regular Sovtek 4x10s can also produce a lot of bass. They claim its the deep design; I don't doubt it.
Reliability

There are only so many things that can go wrong with a cab. Speakers are more likely to present problems. I will say this: this cab is EXTREMELY well made. The joints fit nicely and the inside reflects quality construction. The only disadvantage to this kind of cab is external damage. Because pine is a soft wood, very minor contact will nick and dent this cab. Save this cab for home or the occasional gig (especially if you can leave your gear there).

Sovtek (New Sensor) was accessible. In fact, they're the ones who faxed me the rewiring diagram to make it stereo.

I personally like Sovtek stuff. It's inexpensive yet reliable. I appreciate their making decent gear affordable to those of us who love to jam but can't spend a fortune on equipment.
