This is a one trick pony but its great for what it does. One channel two intputs- hi and lo. three speaker outs 4,8,and 16 ohms. line out 0dB 200 ohms. no effects loop. no reverb. Simple. For people like me this is great. just plug in and play. I've seen people pay a grand more for amps as simple as this and to tell you the truth its mostly for the name. This head is the Ivan Drakko of amplifiers. It will break you before you break it.
I rate this at five because even though i love the amp it is still very limited compared to most others.

Sound Quality : 10
For the price it can't be beat. The clean sound on this is amazing, very powerful but stays intact. with the gain cranked up on the hi input its sounds very close to my Orange AD140...actually its a bit more brutal than that. i'm using a Gibson SG, and Fender Jaguar and the both sound amazing through it. i got it last saturday and used it at church the next day and it sounded superb.

Reliability : 10
So far so good. built like a tank

I have been playing for 10 years, own an Orange AD140, 77 Fender Twin Reverb, Fender DeVille 4x10 combo. i buy it again coz it was so cheap and a great deal. i at least wish it had a second channel but one is better than none. Buy one if you see one.

I bought this amp about 5 years ago at a pawn shop, with a 4x12 Sovtek Cab. This is a great amp. Its only 1 channel with 2 inputs, but thats all one REALLY needs. 2 channels would be nice, but we can't have it all. The EQ could be a little more better, they do not cut/boost enough, although it has a nice presence knob.

Sound Quality : 10
Here is where this head comes into its own. It sounds fantastic. It doesn't have near the gain of the H model, but its got a good vintage punk/Hard Rock crunch. The distortion is kinda like a Boss Turbo Overdrive. But where the amp really shines is in the Low input. Plug any effects in, and you get tube colored tone, what goes in, come out loud and clear. Speaking of loud, the word doesn't do this amp justice.

Its very quiet at idle, and in a stage environment, you can't hear a hiss even cranked almost all the way up.

This model is build like a TANK, I'm told many of the parts are from the same Pots and Switches used in Russian T-37 tanks! Although this may be a rumor, I wouldn't discount it. Mine has metal input/Output jacks, but plastic switches. Not a problem, just don't break em. Other than the switches, which I do no deem a problem, it is built as tough as any amp before or so far after.

Customer Support : 10
I needed a schematic, emailed New Sensor at 3:00 in the AM, at around 9:00AM they emailed me back and told me one was in the mail. Free no less. So from what I have dealt with them its a 10 all the way. Other than things like this, its a Sovtek, you are not gonna find a dealership, and since they are all out of warranty, well your on your own.

Overall Rating : 10
Really all I can say is, if you find one BUY IT! They are starting to become collectible, and since they are cheap, you can't go wrong.

This is a Sovtek MIG 100U from who-knows-when (I haven't had it long enough to search that out). Let's see...the features on this amp are fairly limited: 100 watts courtesy of four Sovtek 5881/6L6WGC's. Three 12AX7's in the preamp; these are Sovteks too, I guess, but there is no name on them...only the "12AX7" label. High- and Low-sensitivity inputs, Presence, Bass, Midrange, Treble, Master Volume, and Preamp Volume. There are three speaker outs; one each for 16 ohm, 8 ohms, and 4 ohms. Also fuses for the mains and for the preamp. That about covers it. I don't care for too many bells and whistles, and this amp fits the bill; it just gets down to business.

I just got this amp yesterday, so I'm still feeling her up (I mean "out"! 'Scuse me! ;-) ) I'm mainly using a '96 Gibson Les Paul Custom, but sometimes a Strat copy ( a real Frankenstein by now, I've changed so many parts!) I'm mainly running it through a Red Bear 4X12 loaded with Celestion Vintage 30's. This makes a good pairing, because the MIG is a relatively dark sounding amp. The speakers break up early, so there's no problem getting distortion from this monster; in fact , the more you crank the amp, the better it is if you back off on the preamp a bit. You'll be treated to a nice, dark, crunchy sounding blast that's great for metal or industrial styles. Be aware, though: if you do crank this baby, it's gonna rattle your jewels! Man! I mean, I can get good sounds at lower volumes, but this amp was made to be cranked! I give the sound an overall 8, because I plan to experiment with various tubes to see what else is lurking in the wings! The clean sound is good, but I really don't think anyone will nominate this amp for Jazz Amp of the Year; it sounds best for metal, but does well for blues and blues rock...IF you don't go too far with the preamp knob. Yep, this is pretty much a very talented One Trick Pony. Anyone who wants to dive into darker sounds should be very pleased with this amp (IMHO). BTW: Although you can get pretty good clean sounds when plugged into the High input, your best bet is to plug into the Low input. The High input will definitely scorch and rumble!

Reliability : 9
Like I said, I've had this amp only since yesterday, but so far the only problem I've had is that the fuse covers don't go on very well, and I had one fuse fall out in the car when I was bringing the amp home. Big surprise when I turned the amp on and nothing happened! Oh, well...this amp is staying in my home studio, so I shouldn't have to worry about this much. Other than that, I've had no problems. Seems very sturdy (industrial strength? :-) )

Haven't needed any yet.

I own various other amps (mainly old Ampegs from the early '70s), and I'm always on the lookout for another amp to expand my sonic palette. This amp meets very well my need for playing metal and industrial styles. If it were ever lost or stolen, I definitely would be on the lookout for another one. If the On and Standby switches were only metal instead of plastic!

The model number on the back says 100U, which I don't know if it is like the Mig100 or Mig 100H. This amp is very simple, but at the same time very versatile. I like to play various different types of music like punk, metal, rock etc. This amp rocks for everything. The only place it comes up short is that there is no way to switch from clean to distortion. I use a Boss ME-30 pedal which has great clean settings on it, but I would much rather use the distortion on the amp and have no way of switching with a pedal. This thing has plenty of power but gets a little out of hand at higher volumes on the high input. The low input is great for a Metallica/Pantera crunch and also works well clean. The amp has Musicman tubes in it right now and I also have 5881s for backup.

Sound Quality : 10
I use an Epiphone Les Paul and a Fender Strat and they both sound excellent on this amp. I'm thinking of purchasing an ESP or an Ibanez to get a little more crunch out of it. The amp gets very noisy when you crank the preamp up but sounds awesome when playing. The clean sound you get when you leave the preamp at 1 and crank the master volume is the best and never gets distorted. I use an old Ampeg 4x12 cabinet with Celestion speakers and it works very well

Reliability : 10
This thing was brand new when I bought it off a Russian dude who was moving to the states. The only thing I had to do to it was paint over the red Soviet flag on the grill of the cabinet with a Canadian flag. I waited a long time looking for a good deal on a Marshall, but this was a much better buy (I was looking at about $600 just for a Marshall head!)

I have tried to find a website for Sovtek, but can only find something on the tubes. I have never had to find parts for it but a lot people have either never heard of them or don't know anything about them.

Overall Rating : 9
I would deffinately rate this a nine for the price I paid for it,even though I have nothing really to compare it to. I had a really old GBX 4x10 with the amp bolted on to the back of the cabinet before this (no one knows anything about these either). I have been playing for about 3 years now and bought this because I would like to start a band very soon and would deffinately buy it again. The only thing that would make it better would be the pedal to switch from clean to distorted channels.
