I really should have listened to Cory. He was and is truthfully devoted to this amp and I now would / could sell these amps to anyone with true desire to create very special and most fulfilling music.

Overall Rating : 10
This is the first time EVER! That I have absolutely no regret/remorse for spending that much money on something some would consider lavish, wasteful or not wise.

I have only played on it for 30mins: without even using the speaker/just headphones, But the pure joy I got was like no Drug / Sex / Food / Compliment / Money ? Anything I have ever felt. Then again, I love music and have an ear for good tone.

Truly this is the best, purest, sweetest, most enjoyable tone I?ve personally been a part of. Meaning I could feel the future of my own shaping actually working with the almost controllable sustain and effortless singing, most honest clean tone. It makes me feel like I?ve finally found the one thing I?ve been lacking all along? This amp changes everything, musically, for me.

I have an honest, true desire to advance, and be successful and happy.

I do regret, however, waiting so long, to be so Happy! With what I now consider my most valuable object. Priceless!

I think I may need another one to keep my ?tolex? company.

Have Zest for life, Play a speedster for yourself!

See the other reviews. Very basic. The one cool thing is the Bias knob. It lets you break the amp up a little more by running hotter. I gave it a 10 for that alone. Good idea.

Sound Quality : 10
I use a PRS with humbuckers. This amp works well with it. I also use a Fulldrive 2, Roger Mayer Voodoo Bass, Clyde Wah. The amp really reflects the effects unit and allows the tone of the guitar to come through. I gig out and it works in any venue. We mic all our gear anyway. I prefer a straight forward amp that sounds great clean and then dirty it up with my Fulldrive. With the VooBass Fuzz I can make a perfect Hendrix Voodoo Chile tone.

built like a tank.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Haven't dealt with them.

I really like this amp. I think that it allows my guitar to have its own tone without taking over like most amps made these days do. Soem off the best sound that I have heard comes out of this amp.

Adjustable tube bias, spring reverb (loud), 2 6V6 tubes, 3 12AX7 tubes, bias meter on front of amp. Then regular, Bass, Mid, Treble, Volume. The bias knob is so cool you can run your tubes hot or cooler to get differnent tones.

This is the stuff that dreams are made of for a tube amp lover. These amps really kick. Tone out the A**. I have had everything from old Fender to Victoria and satcked next to this amp they do not sound as good.

Reliability : 10
Hand built in the USA. Very clean inside the head. I don't think it would break down on me during a gig. Carry some fuses and tubes and you're good to go.

Customer Support : 10
Talk to them a couple times during the order prcess. Very helpful.

Overall Rating : 10
Overall, I have been playing for 27 years and I have finally found a tube amp that sounds great. I have stopped my quest for tone! It sounds good with my Strat, PRS, and Les Paul. I waited 4 months for this amp. They build them by hand so they are in limited quantities. I love mine and would buy another if it were stolen.

This amplifier sports two 6v6 and four 12ax7 tubes. 1 high and 1 low input. Treble, mid, bass, bias control knob and meter and reverb. This amp is perfect for playing harp as well as guitar. This 25 watter has enough power for small or medium sized venues. The tone is to die for.

Sound Quality : 10
I mainly play harp through this Speedster. I use a hot 99A86 Controlled magnetic element in my Astatic jt30vc. I have finally found my tone. This amp breaks up very nicely even at lower volumes. The tone controls are a major element in over-all volume and has extreme tonal possibilities. You really have to play with this amp to believe it. The bias control will also determine it's clean or dirtiness. I have mine set to about 3 o'clock.

Reliability : 10
I depend on this amp with full confidence, however it is always a good idea to bring extra tubes along to a gig. So far it has performed flawlessly.

Customer Support : 10
Since I bought this amp used, I brought it to Speedster to ensure all was working as it should. The folks at speedster were extremely pleasant and very accomodating. Very professional.

Overall Rating : 10
I have been playing through the speedster for nearly 4 months and have absolutely fell in love with it. I should mention that the aesthetics on this amp is unique and absolutely gorgeous. I own #0127 and the chassis is signed by Michael Soldano. I understand that there are still only about 350 of these amps in existance, but production is underway for more. If your lucky enough to find one, snatch it quick!

No gimmick tube amp. No master volume. This amp is what tube geeks need to play and hear. The amp is very clean and can break down in certain tonal ranges depending on how you set the tone controls. You start with the volume at 1 or 2 o'clock and the tone controls all the way left. You then color the tone with the treble, middle, and bass (and I mean bass. All of the tone controls increase work off of each other and act like volume controls for that tone range. Once you get your sound, crystal clear rich timbres, you then go to the ten turn bias nob which is located on the front and adjust the bias voltage with a visual indication via a simpson millivolt meter. All of the way left is really Fender vintage and all of the way right is Marshall presence. Somewhere in between is the setting which literally sucks the sound out of your guitar (your sweet spot). When you find it, you know it! You tend to think that you can really hear what your guitar really sounds like. The trick is to set up the tone the way I described it. The amp is different from anything I have ever played and the usual approach of dialing in the tone and then turning it up didn't work for me. I called Lynn Ellsworth about that (the owner of Boogie Body guitars and Speedster Amplifiers) and he explained the process to me. The amp is considered a "boutiuqe" amp by Guitar Player and is pretty pricey but you can call Lynn and get the amp in your favorite color or even exotic woods. By the way even at 30 watts, this thing is loud! No problem in a live situation. It holds it's own. I tried it through a 4 x 10 and 4 x 12 and I was back to arguing with the sound dude about volume! I have played through everything - racks, stacks, direct, and this amp inspired me to start geeking out on tube amps, so I looked at the Matchless, TopHat, Dumble, etc, and decided that the Speedster was rare and beautiful. I was getting some "All along the Watchtower" Hendrix as well as some "Stairway to Heaven" Jimmy Page, with Pauls and strats. A lot of pros and rich kids are picking these up. The first 100 were signed by Mike Soldano. The story goes that Lynn had a design and took it to Mike and said make this bullet proof. Mike oem's the electonics and Lynn guarantees the amps for life. I turned Eric Johnson on to a cute little purple one in Austin and he took it the his studio. Joe Walsh has picked up a couple and word is getting out to collect them. I have one on order which is a combo with a custom speaker configuration a 10 and a 12. These amps the the amps of choice in the studios around Tacoma and Gig Harbor, Wa. If you need tips on setting these up or tube types for tone feel free to email me at dongarcia@usa.net. No agenda here except that...you gotta hear one!

The amp is capable of some very good lead tones. It is a lead amp. I t does react to your mood playing. The bottom is more than my own playing can take advantage of but it is there. I'm talking BOTTOM. I played a Marshall and realized that the Marshalls don't even get close to reproducing what can come out of a guitar. This is a clean amp but can break down very nicely in either if the three tone ranges,if you take the time to dial it in for your guitar. After that, you soar. If you need a dedicated lead amp set it up for that. If you vary in styles, use your effects and set it up for clean and hear what your effects really sound like. I have done both and really want one of each set up so that I can take advantage of the pushed tube sound .

Reliability : 10
Never had a problem. The only thing I might mention is that the finish is very high quality paint and you want covers or road cases.

Customer Support : 10
Did I mention that Lynn guarantees them for life? The company is small and Lynn is personally involved with all operations and everything that goes out the door. He seems to really be sincere about what gets to his customers. He realizes that when you finnaly say you want one that you are expecting the best amp ever made and he makes it a very special occasion when you get it. He has to play it!..you should see his face when he turns the amp on and cranks it!

Overall Rating : 10
I've been playing for 30 years? ...<WOW!> I own all kinds of processing crap and got rid of my other amps! This does it all for me. If it were stolen, I'd cry first because it is like a part of me. Plus it is one of the collector (Mike Soldano signed the chassis)models. Then I would get another one. It would be nice if it had a master volume and perhaps little quieter but I really don't think something like this should be tampered with. My other amps were certainaly noisy.
