Bias know on front, T,V,B,Reverb. Volt meter for tubes. Head separate from the cabinet with 12" speaker. Great for carrying to gigs, one in each hand and you're off. Not to heavy like a combo.

Sound Quality : 10
I use a Strat and a Les Paul and both are equally great sounding with this amp. I have been playing for 25 years. I have used Victoria for the las ten years. This amp eats my Victorias tone up. I set them both up with an A/B switch and found the Speedster just has better tone.

Reliability : 10
Built like a tank. Hand wired point to point. Comes with tuki covers.

Blues, jazz, and rock players rejoice!! The speedster deluxe 25 has the top tones in these and other categories of musical expression as well. This amplifier is definetly a "players" amplifier: meaning it has far more "dynamic range" than any other tube amplifier on the market.25 watts indeed is enough to jack this snarling little beast out and above any medium size clubs' stage it graces with a supurb applomb. Les pauls,strats,teles,solid,semi-hollow,(DIG a 335's howl through one),or really, about any guitar sounds better and more true than it ever did.

Sound Quality : 10
Tone is really the key goal for this amp,(read supurb!). I have found the more gigs I play with my 25 deluxe(200+ a year), I'm most always asked by fellow guitarists checking out my band the type of amp that I'm using. They have a hard time understanding that at just 25 watts, an amp can have the presence, dynamics and serious tone unlike any amp they've ever played or owned. From the most eloquent of clean tones to the most broken up evil natural overdriven tones, the 25 deluxe by Speedster truly is an amplifier that a player can run strait into and love life !

Reliability : 10
I've gigged with this amp out of state, in some of the toughest clubs, and even had it in my trunk for six months, and, let me tell you, this little jewel is rock solid. Of course, tubes can burn out after time so do carry an extra set with you to engagements, but, if you're like me, you want an amp that you do not have to worry about: thats the Speedster 25 deluxe.

Cory Wilds, VP of Speedster, will do "what it takes" to serve one of his Speedster customers. Can you say, "I love this guy"! Really, I've never had a problem with this rig and I've owned and played with it pretty extensively since 1998. However, I'll get a call from "The Man" from time to time asking me how things are going and how I'm enjoying the rig; but not too much!

Overall Rating : 10
I've been playing guitar for 23+ years, performing for about 20 of those and I've been through a few amps and let me say this: Speedster really is the only amp I would ever consider recommending to another player who was seriously concerned about thier tone. This amplifier will never pretend to be something it isn't, and that sure is like anyone taking the time to read this review just to see what someone else thinks about this product. The reason I bought this amp is the indentical reason any musician would...serious tone, serious reliability, serious musicality. What more would you need.

I just wanted to relay a story about these amps which are now being seen more and more around the Seattle area. A group of us were out one night down by Pioneer Square and a band was playing at Kells Irish Pub. Upon entering the front door I immediately heard THE best guitar tone I have ever heard, and I have been to hundreds of rock shows. I went to investigate and the guitarist (Snookie) had a piggy back deluxe and he was also slamming the input on leads with a Danelectro Daddy-O pedal. This monster was absolutely a killer. The amp was not even miked and the club was full of tone with only a single speaker. I'm telling you, this is the stuff. On a side note, last week at the Emerald Queen Casino in Fife, the house band guitarist was playing two of these in stereo and again, as soon as I turned the corner I heard "that sound." Sell what you have and get one of these, I am...

This is one of the early purple piggy backs. Single channel very basic 6V6 duet twenty watt wonder. It has reverb (a bit cavernous above 3 or 4)but could use a nice tremelo. It does have a front mounted bias meter and 10 turn bias control. As long as you start with matched tubes you can vary the tone with this control. I have one of the first 100, so it is signed (on the chassis) by Mike Soldano who puts these together for Speedster. Emminance speaker actually sounds pretty good. Russian tubes, particle board woodwork. Luckily, it sounds much better than the parts it uses.

Sound Quality : 9
Used with '89 strat plus, Yamaha Weddington Custom, and Yamaha SA2000,you can get a pretty wide range of tone out of this amp. As I said the reverb is a little much. This amp is a bit noisy, but on stage you may be able to filter it out. I am still learning the different sounds I can get out of it. The tone controls (treble, mid, bass)have a large effect on the volume. I just play at my house so the 22 watts is plenty.

Reliability : 10
I bought this as a floor demo and the bias control was shot. Have had no problems since I fixed that. (see customer support)

When I bought this, the bias control was broken. The amps come with a lifetime warranty so I called Lynn Elsworth at Speedster and told him my problem. He said that they would send me a new pot if I would fix it myself or I could send it in for repair. I can solder two wires so I had him send me the pot. He sent me the wrong pot the first time but got it right the second time and now the amp is like new.

Overall Rating : 8
I didn't put a price on here because of the deal I got. This amp retails at $2400 and since mine was a floor model, I got a hell of a deal. I would not pay $2400 for this amp. I also have a mid '70s Princeton Reverb, and a early "70s Bandmaster reverb. This can't get as "sweet" as either of those. But it seems to be a great "lead" amp. With the bias full right, and the Weddington Custom (Humbuckers)this thing can crank pretty good. I'd still trade it for blackface deluxe reverb.
