This is a bad to the bone Standel 30J15T which I recently acquied online and it smokes! Originally fitted with a Jensen15 but now has a vintage Altec D130 like speaker 15", ALL TUBE, grey tolex, silver face plate with front mounted volume, treble, bass, tremelo speed and intensity, 2 channels. 30 watts of pure tube tone that will knock your socks off. It has all that intricate coated circuitry and looks to be all point to point handwired. Man I spent a few hours just glancing at the schematics and trying to draw charts but my brain fried. I will continue that quest though. It must weigh about 70 lbs and the combo cab is bigger than you might expect with a single speaker. It is bad ass for sure.

Sound Quality : 10
WHEW!!! This amp does not lack in the tone department. This is an incredible amplifier. The clean channel is just pure velvet!!! The vibrato is AMAZING!! The power and volume is down right ear busting, but it sounds great at all volumes. I had my buddy bring over his pedal steel today for a jam and all were just taken by the clean clear steel tone with amazing volume and warmth, but always maintaining clarity. I knew these were the ultimate inn steel guitar and that was confirmed. As for my other guitars, james Trussart steel caster, ES-335, Myka Dragonfly and just the obvious two great matches for this amp, vintage gretsch archtop and a mosrite ventures.

Reliability : 10
Vintage tube amp that has lasted for many years and has many years to come. Just an amazing quality amplifier, built when things were built like tanks.

I gave it a 9 as it is not a fantastic value just given the price you will pay for one. Is it worth the price? You are damn right it is!!!, but still you have to be willing to pay for this type of authentic and soul provoking tone. At the same time, considering the original selling price and cost and workmanship in the 1960's, so in this boutique amp market, I feel like I got a bargain of a lifetime everytime. I could pay more for a reissue that is trying to emulate this amplifier. Best money I spent on an amp and it cost more than my car. Given I drive a used Honda, but play a Monteleone archtop daily. Priorities!! Personal taste is certainly the main factor in comparing this amp say to other well known vintage amps. In my opinion this amp beats any vintage fender or gibson amp, and I still have several valuable fenders. I also have two alessandro heads an italian grey hound and Beagle and a great 2 x 12 D-130 JBL loaded Alessandro cab. They have clean tone s that are pristine as well, but still this Standel has some special character to its clean tone.
