This actually an earlier Artist amp built by Standel. It is the pure vintage ALL TUBE amplifier with an altec alnico speaker 15". It has 2 channels and 2 inputs for each with a lush tremelo on the 1st channel. Grey textured tolex covering, front panel controls, with chicken head knobs. Pretty bsic handwired all BLISS! I give it a 10 as Standel was one of the frst major tube amp producers that created tube magic.

I have owned many a tube amp and over the last 10 years steared away from acquiring any more tube amps and as a Jazzer the lightweight and great tone that has been produced with solis state amps, such as henriksen JAZZAMP, or JAZZKAT or AER have kept me from really heavily pursuing a tube amp. I stumbled upon this amp for sale and couldn't let it pass. The tub tone is the most lush clean tone that I have ever encountered. This is the real deal, and worth the money, the extra weight compared to SS, and the vintage tube hum. The bluesy tones with some effects and overdriven sounds are amazing. The Jazz tones with a tele or a semi hollow are stupendous. Couldn't be happier. I can't say it is the tone I have always been searching for , because I didn't know it could be this good. I have vintage Fender's, and a have owned several newer boutique amps, which I will not list, but none of them could hold a candle to this Standel. It is worth the vintage hype that hs been brewing around them. Absolutely blown away!!

Worked for about 50 years now and with minor servicing over it s lifetime works perfectly and sounds amazing. That being said, it will not be leaving my home for the road. Too valuable and rare to think about it, and it isn't a featherweight amp either.

I have been playing all my life and a lifetime jazzer. I mostly play archtops, but also solidbodies and semi hollows often too. I play archtop with this amp too, but at lower volumes and although it is not dead quite like my SS amps, it has an extra sparkle when chording and the notes are so fat and rich, I can't help but plug them into this standel often too. Feedback is an issue obviously with them. With my Sadowsky Tele or Steve Klein electric the results are nothing short of jaw dropping. I have only had it for a a few weeks, but also have played my personal favorite guitar, a Joseph Jesselli D'Aquisto like design, sort of a Centura semihollow through it and it brings a permenant grin to my face every time I play it withh the Standel. I have numerous guitars and basically, this amp kills!! regardless of what you put in front of it. I am now searching for another vintage Standel. The best tube amp I have owned in 40+ yrs of playing and collecting. If you can find one, don't buy it call me and I will buy it!

1964 Standel Artist XV with 15" original Special Design Jensen speaker. Two channels - one normal and one with tremelo. Basic
amp, so I use a Yamaha DG stomp box for effects when I use them
and don't roam too far from basic effects. This amp has lots of power and plenty of guts. It's an early Standel solid state amp that runs very clean. I'd give it a 10 if it had reverb or echoplex.

I have several guitars that I use with the amp, as I play several styles. Guitars: Gibson (1981) ES-369; Tokai (1980) Reborn Old; Stratocaster JV (1982); Mosrite (1969) Mark I and a Mark V; Esquire Custom by Rob Allen; Custom Esquire by Dan Ransom, Warmoth Custom Esquire. The amp is basic but I've ignored my 1969 Fender Twin Reverb since I've owned it...THAT says something about these Standels!! The amp doesn't distort unless I use the Tokai "Reborn Old" 1958 LP replica (mint! rare!) that has HOT pickups.

Well...it's a 1964 vintage amp with original speaker and is like new, so I guess it's pretty reliable wouldn't you say??

I sent a note to Standel Company that has reintroduced vintage re-issue amps and the reply was nearly immediate and directly from the President of the company and very congenial....a unique pleasure!

I've been playing since 1965...if it was lost or stolen I'd go out and immediately buy another IF I could find one! I also own a 1970's
Standel Jumbo L6N...superb. Vintage Standel stuff is outstanding based on my experience...the re-issues are also suppose to be great.
