The Standel Company is still in business. The current president is Danny McKinney. Their excellent website can be reached at:

They have answered all of my questions promptly and succinctly.
More companies should operate like this.

Manufactured in 1969. Solid State 2x12 120 watts. 2 channels reverb and tremolo one channel number 2. This is a very clean powerful amp. It is for stage use. It is so heavy it shoould have wheels. I mostly use it with my bass. If I use it with my strat i often go through an american metal pedal in order to get some distortion. I purchased the amp used for $50.00. I would buy other Standel gear.

I use it with a stat and a p-bass. It is fine for blues but requires some effects. This amp will NOT distort. It is not noisy. I was told that Standels were popular for country music. I could imagine someone using this amp with a pedal steel.

I have been playing 25 years. I own a 66 fender champ, A black face fender deluxe reverb, a harmony 400A, an Alamo Emperor, and a Standel bass pre-amp. The Standel Custom is comparable to the Deluxe Reverb in power, but it has a tone of its own. I am glad I own it. If I could find another (I have never seen one), I would buy it.
