The amp is pretty simple in layout which is why it sounds so good as far as I am concerned. You have your standard gain, treble, mid and bass control and then the mighty "power scaling", individual controls for poweramp drive and poweramp level, allowing you - in combination with the preamp gain - to dial between cristal clear sounds with quite a lot of headroom or heavily saturated poweramp crunch or singing overdrive. The only drawback here would be the "or" since it's a one channel amp. FX loop on the back works great. The sonic versatility however deserves a ten since when you buy a single channel amp you know what to expect beforehand.

Sound Quality : 10
When using it live I set the amp to the point of breakup, roll back the guitar volume for cleaner sounds and use a booster for dirty crunch or a distortion pedal for serious "solo" sounds. In the studio this amp just delivers in tons! I have just recorded half an album with two guitars (one w/singlecoils, one w/ humbuckers) and this amp.

Reliability : No Opinion
So far no issues at all.I used the amp extensivly live and in studios for the past 6 months.

Suhr has one of the best customer services in the music bizz, for any problems simply email them and within two days you will get help from the guys who develop the stuff.

In the past 20++ years I played a whole shipload of amps, this one is a keeper. The sound is just so "on the button" you can tweak it all you want. I play it through a Suhr 1x12 cab with a Celestion G12H30 Heritage mostly and the only thing I would consider is a 2x12 or 4x12 cab. If I have the funds I'll buy a 100w Suhr, maybe a PT100 or a OD100 classic+ next. I only give a 9 here because I think Suhr stuff is a bit pricey and 10 would mean "fantastic value" which implies a certain bargain to me...

I own the Suhr Badger 30 head that I use a cab from Reinhardt. I put a 9 because you don't have two channels, but I would not use it too much anyway (mostly studio playing), so I don't really care. Also a potential issue; No reverb, but when you get into that price range, just go get a Vanamps Sole Mate. A good point: Fx Loop.
See website for info

AMAZING. You get every kind of classic tones (as least the ones I am looking for). So far I have also owned cheap amps (Roland Cube or playing with headphones through a line 6 pod). Since my guitars are high end (James Trussart, Gibson LP Custom shop, Fender Custom shop, PRS), I decided to go ahead and get a matching amp. I did some research and this head is the best, clean, crunch and distortion are great. I can play at ANY volume with amazing tone thanks to the London Power scaling. The head looks great. I can get jazzy, rock, blues sounds. The knobs are very responsive. GREAT. My dream amp. Look at youtube videos and demos, especially from a guy called Pete Thorn.
Also good with pedals. I use a Vanamps Sole Mate reverb, a Speedster chorus, a Proco rat II and I will soon get a vibe (probably Roger Mayer Voodoo Vibe) and a Boss DD3 delay

Reliability : 10
Looks great, solid and reliable to me. No issue despite having bought it used

Great amp. Do some research and try it at one of Suhr dealers. You won't be disappointed. I was looking for a versatile, no headache, great amp with power scaling system so that I could actually use it. I don't see any reason to change. It is reasonable in size, looks cool, sounds amazing and allows to play anything

Built in April 2008. This is the new Suhr Badger 30, #003. This amp includes the breakthrough London Power Scaling that allows the user to reduce the volume without affecting the tone quality. See Suhr's site for specifics on this feature....but let me tell you, it works like a charm. As result you can get all the clean or crunch, at all volumes, from ear splitting to midnight music room levels, without waking the wife, much less the neighbors. No reverb, but it does have an effects loop that I use with a Line 6 Pod ProXT....excellent match. The knobs are, Power, Drive, Treble, Mid, Bass, Gain. There are several ways to control volume and tone....see the Suhr site. Two speaker outputs with variable ohm ratings, 16, 8, 4. Slow and Fast fuses in the back. On Switch and Stand-by Switch (the latter is a new feature on the badger amps). This amp uses a Solid State REctifier for consistent performance and reliability. I would like for it to have reverb. I am using this amp with the Suhr BAdger 1x12 close/ported speaker cabinet.

Absolutely stunning at all volume levels! In combination with the Suhr 1x12 Badger cabinet, the sound is beyond belief from such a small package. I use two of the Suhr Badger Cabinets at gigs.

one of the 12AX7 preamp tubes failed after 4 months. Replacement was simple.

Customer Support : 10
Due to Guitar Center selling me a dead replacement pre-amp tube, the solution became a problem and I did contact John Suhr about the problem (not realizing the bad tube, yet) The Badger has aluminum tube covers/retainers and I couldn't tell the tube wasn't lighting up. John contacted me personally through email, gave logical solutions. I reapproached the task, located the "new" dead tube.....problem solved.

I've played for over 40 years as an amateur. I own a Suhr Tele, a CpThornton Fusion, a CpThornton Professional, a Melancon CAjun Gentleman, and an Anderson Crowdster. Mostly rhythm and blues and classic rock. I play several times a month at gigs and practice daily, so this amp gets a good workout.

I'll be honest...I love this amp and can't wait to see what the Suhr company puts out next. I would ABSOLUTELY replace this amp in a heart-beat if lost or otherwise. This is my preferred amplifier and a joy to play.
