I ordered two cabs from bill: a JTM style smallbox marshall cab, and a prosonic head cab. Both were spec'd to be made out of black walnut and flamed maple. We agreed on a price of 600.00 even and I sent him the payment via PayPal on April 7, 2005.

On April 13, 2005 William Boekhoff told me it would be about 8 - 12 weeks before I saw the first cabinet for the Whitney head I had purchased. A few months past and I again talked with him in late June of that year. He said he would have them to me by mid July. After that, he dropped off the face of the earth. Speaking with the guy who made my amp, he said Bill had gone through some personal issues. Well, its now March 25, 2006 and I haven't yet heard from him. I have tried to email him every other month, and have even left voice mails on the number I have for him. Nothing - not a word.

Basically, I don't care how well everyone else has loved their cabs. In my humble opinion William Boekhoff of Sultone.com stole $600.00 from me. If he couldn't fulfill the order, then he should have refunded my money. The only excuse he has as far as I'm concerned is that he is either dead, or ended up brain damaged in an accident. Even then, the executor of his estate should refund me my $600.00! You know what? Bill, if you're reading this, just give me my JTM 45 head cab for the amp we can call even.

A pair of head cabs for 2 Music Man HD-130's arrived a few weeks ago. A long wait, but worth it. Fantastic wood selection, great design work on the grille.

Sound Quality : 10
Can't say that a head cab sounds like anything, but I really like the MM amps!

Reliability : 10
Built to withstand a direct hit. Just make sure you use a coaster if you put your drink on it!

The only downside is that the cabs took way longer than expected to get here. But they were worth the wait, absolutely phenomenal craftsmanship. On the other hand, I needed to get the holes for the mounting straps plugged and re-drilled after the cabs arrived. To his credit, Bill offered to pay for the repairs. The woodsmith who did the repairs was completely blown away by the quality of Bill's work, he said it was absolutely perfect.

Overall Rating : 10
I now have 5 of Bill's cabs, and as soon as money permits, a cab for my 63 princeton and MM 112 RD 50 will be in the works. His work is amazing, and I'm glad I came across his site.

Bill at Sultone built this JTM45 head cabinet. And when I got in a jam, he finished up the head for me too. It is solid walnut with flame maple piping. It is the most beautiful head cabinet I ever saw. The amp is a Weber chassis and power transformer, ceramic sockets, a Ceriatone card, Heyboer output tranny, Mercury 7H choke. Chinese preamp and Rusky output tubes. The pots and switches are Marshall. 2 Channels, no effects or loops. I use it to play occasional gigs, mostly outside. I practice with it once a week in my home garage. It is loud.

Sound Quality : 10
This cabinet sounds great just in looks and vibe alone. Gibsons, mostly humbukers. The amp is quiet, no hum what soever. My speaker cab is an Eminence 2x12 with Vintage openbacks and 39 oz magnets. I wanted to try and get a unique Bluesbreaker sound. Early Cream/Zep. Success.

Reliability : 10
I use a backup, but, I'm beginning to trust it more and more. Quite rugged for a cottage made unit.

Lives about ten miles away. Nicest guy you ever met and a craftsman deluxe. A genuine artist. He bent over backwards to do this and it is probably worth more.

Overall Rating : 10
Best amp and most beautiful I ever owned or played through. I'll never go anywhere else other than Sultone for a product like this. The best price I could find on a new birch plywood cabinet was $180. This is solid walnut. At the price, an absolute bargain.

For the head cabinet alone, without the amplifier installed in it, it sounds very nice!

Bill, of Sultone is what one might call a master craftsman. If he is not yet, he is on his way.
His wood working skills are excellent, all joints are flush the dimensions are exactly as I had asked. The wood choice was excellent and the grain is all going in on direction. Bill knows and loves his wood. A note to metric countries: have no fear he is good with numbers, has a very sophisticated calculator and had no problems with metrics. Unlike another builder I came across who scolded me for using metric, " this is america, use inches!" Bill on the other hand is aware that other country exists outside of the US.
All emails were replied to promptly b4 the sale was consumated and afterwards as well.
Bill will go out of his way to make sure you get what you ordered. The qualit of the product is at least more than what you are expecting when ordering and this in my mind is the mark of integrety and hard work, something I have no qualms about paying for.
Mind you, the prices are exactly as he describes on his web page, a lot less than you'd expect.

Features? This is a great custom amp head CABINET from Sultone amp cabinets. I built the amp, Sultone built the cab. It is mahogany/flame maple and features the usual detachable back panel and grill. It has a black fender-style handle and tallish rubber feet. The finish is some kind of oil, possibly tung oil. The fit and finish are very good. Also, the choice of woods was excellent, with beautiful grain showing on all surfaces.
I specified roughly the type of cab, the width and the wood choices; gave Bill the dimensions, and he went to it.

This is a head cab and does not affect sound.

I just received it but it looks very well constructed. It ain't gonna break.

Bill Boekhoff is very friendly and easy to talk to. He'll talk to you on the phone and via email several times during the process as well as SENDING YOU A PICTURE of the thing right after he ships it.

This is the second amp I have built. This one from scratch. It looks great with the chassis and faceplate I chose and also good enough to sit in the living room!
