see other reviews. Actually, mine is model Alpha 112 pr but I guess it makes no difference.

Actually, although it is supposed to be a guitar amp, I bought it for bass. It puts out a round warm fuzzy tone which I quite like and suits my style nicely; much better than many proper bass combos that I used in the past. Loud enough to rehearse with 2 guitars a drummer and a PA. The bass reflex enclosure and parametric mid makes it a lot more versatile than you would expect from such a small combo. The shop assistant said the previous owned used it for keyboards, which I am prepared to believe. I tried to plug in a strat and play a few licks I wasnt really impressed, but I think the parametric mid requires quite a bit of fiddling around to dial in a good tone. All in all, I like it a lot.

Its old but works perfectly.

just bought it.

I like it a lot. Not an obvious choice for a bass amp, but I was looking for something inexpensive that I could buy in my local shop. It is good for retro rock/rnb thump, and it looks really cool. If I blow the speaker, (which is quite likely cause its not supposed to be a bass amp) I'll definitely replace it with a more powerful 12in.

The amp is pretty flexible. I use it for recording at home. Bright and Normal inputs, Bass, Parametric Mid, and Treble, Solid State Reverb and Master Volume. Eff loop, Reverb footsw and Head Phone Out. 50 watts and a 12" speaker in a closed cabinet. Big noise from a small footprint! The amp is solid state using what Sunn termed C-Mos technology. It is one of the warmer solid state amps I've heard but that's not saying much!

I play around with various blues, r&b and light jazz styles, really still looking for mine to be honest. I haven' gigged in about 15 years so this amp gets used at home with a simple home studio setup. I have it paired with a siver face (70's) Princeton and find that I can get about anything I want out of one or the other. I find the Sunn to be very quiet. I mike the cabinet for a closed cab clean sound a'la' Polytone/Roland Cube. More often I take the headphone out direct. Again no noise! I using a stock, generic Strat at the moment. I used to use a Hamer Standard but the thing really wanted to Rock n Roll more hatn anything else and I find the Strat more suited to my hand. Because the Strat is thin I use a symetrix 201 ahead of the amp to thicken it up sometimes. My only complaint about the sound is that the range of useable distortion is narrow. There is basically only one acceptable distortion setting. I also use a 70's Fender Princeton and drive the heck out of it for the distortion sound I'm looking for. This pairing actually works pretty well. The Princeton has that classic open-back Fender sound and the Sunn does a reasonable job on everything else. Oh yeah, I also use the Sunn as my bass amp. If I don't take the bass direct, then I mic the cabinet. As the speaker is stock naturally I don't crank it up too far. The bass I use is a G&L L-1000 which is a passive but flexible instrument.

Sunn's just don't seem to break.

If you define customer support as not having to contact anybody, they did just great. I dont think these folks are around at this point so it's moot anyway.

I'd buy it again. I've had the Sunn for about 7 or 8 years. It's been a useful addition to my simple studio setup. There are probably a zillion other small solid state combo's out there that would do as well. Offerring the same clean, closed back sound and a real ratty distortion. I happened on this one first and it has worked well enough that I didn't look for one better. Like I mentioned for my needs being able to mic the cabinet or take the headphone out directly to the board, as well as pairing it with the Princeton makes for a real flexible setup.
