fender "sunn" reissue
'98 i believe. two channels clean and HELL the clean would be good for very low volume recording but anything over 4 on 100 watts is muddy and dead. the second channel which i call "hell" is monstrous. 4 gl6l6 power tubes. a light angry smooth distortion or a horrendous wall of distortion and low end.

on 100 watts the distortion channel is great around 4-6 gain and 5-7 volume. plenty loud and excellent texture. i had to use a peice of garbage peavey while my sunn was being fixed. i had almost becoem acostom to the crappieness untill i plugged my sunn in after about 2 months of the peavy..and then i remembered why i love sunn.. a smooth wraped distortion. wonderfull midrange for a little over teh top classic rock sounds. blistering highs if your into 19th fret soling and that crap. ohh yes
the palm mutes are a special treat for anyone interested.
teh high gain channel is pretty damn versitile. the clean however is not
it could sound good wiht a nice distortion pedal if yo uwnat to blow them away with your second channel.

i got this amp second hand form a good freind and he didnt want it because it has some severe feedback issues. i went in to the local amp shop and they wouldnt touch it. the old sunns maybe the new sunns definately not. it had been used for low volume recording initialy with me, but when idecided to write some stuff with my freind and i turned it up i blew a tube and took out some resistors. i took it abotu 20 miles to the closest fender authorised repair shop and spent 90 bucks to replace the resistors and 80 bucks on new tubes and biasing.
other than a freak blow out it has been solid and a joy .

like i said
the new fender imitations of the model t arent loved or respected by amp clasicists. find a fender tech and your good to go. parts arent that expensive

ive had this amp for almost a year. playign guitar for 2. i use a jackson pro circa 1994 with a floyd rose tremelo system.
if it were lost or stolen i would be devistated. o am currently looking for a second generation model t to do some serious rocking.
i love teh aesthetic of the chassis teh tone the distortions versatility. i hate teh fact that it isnt THAT loud.
but none the lessit is god
ive heard teh same guitar played with a carvin all tube with a sweet ass mid range and tight distortion. ive heard teh same guitar with a peavy sheffeild 120 run through a 4x12.
it easily mames and concours both.
i am not a very big marshall fan
the shit is to expensive and sounds liek a playschool radio put in a fancy chassis.

This is one of the newer ones from like 99 or 2000 I bought it brand new from American Musical Supply this year 2002. I think sunn is no longer a company thought so i'm not sure when this amp was actually made. I like both channels it has a overdrive gain channel and a clean one with a foot switch. It has 100 watts of tube power. 4 6l6's power tubes. It is cool looking too you can see the internals through the front grill. It is an american made amp. It has a switch to switch between 25 and 100 watts which is cool but they both seem really loud. I wish it had reverb though. Would rate this amp higher but it doesn't have an abundance of features but is great just the way it is.

I didn't like this amp with my Gibson SG classic the p-90's seemed too noisy for it. But my American Hotrodded strat with texas specials sounds great through this amp. It distortion channel is really great for lighter vintage style distortion and blues distortion. I use this through a 1960 classic Marshall 4x12 cab which seems to work pretty good. My Gretsch Jazz guitar sounds pretty good through it. The guitar amp is really loud in general but does sound very good. The distortion channel with my strat inspires my blues guitar playing.

I would use this for a gig where I needed a lot of power. I have one concern I was playing this amp with the switch on 25 watts and I had the distortion channel on. I had the volume up to about 3 or so and amp cut out and didn't work for about 4 minutes or so and then it started working again. I don't know if I drove it too much on the 25 watt setting or what but it hasn't happenend again which is good but it did concern me a little.

I think sunn is no longer a company and I don't know if fender would support them or not but you can still get a lot of the parts if it breaks.

I have been playing for about 7 years and I gave lessons for 2 of those. I play mostly Rockabilly, Blues, and some jazz. I also lead worship at a big church I haven't used this amp there though. The reason I bought this amp is because of the price it was very cheap for being brand new in the box. Great value for a 100 watt all tube guitar amp. I ordered it online so I had never plugged in to it before. But I was very happy with the purchase. Like I said I do wish it had Reverb but I have a nice Electroharmonix Reverb Pedal the holy grail which is cool.

This is a 2000 reissue Sunn model T (made by Fender), all tube....4 6l6, 6 12ax7, 2 channel head. Effects loop has seperate send and return levels for each channel (nice). Has selectable power level (club=25 watts; arena=100 watts). Selectable impedance (16, 8, or 4 ohms). 2 speaker outs. Footswitch for switching channels and effects loop on/off. Also, has rear bias trim pot for biasing the amp and failsafe circuit that switches bad tubes off without killing the amp. Overall...nice features, many you wouldn't find except on real expensive boutique deals. But overall, it is still very straight foward and simple.

This is the best part. I am playing mainly Les Paul classics thorugh this thing, and it is sweeeeeeet sounding. Channel 1 is...well, I suppose it's the clean channel, but it really isn't all that clean......you dime this baby and it breaks up kinda like a vintage plexi. You can get clean sounds that are useable, but not all that "clean". Basically, channel one sounds like a vintage marshall type amp...(maybe like a vintage SUNN...who knows, never played one). Channel 2 is the high gain channel and will crunch with the best of 'em. It has a really good amount of gain available....without being overkill.....I have had several Mesa Dual Rectifiers and that is a problem I have always had with them. This thing is just soooooooooo warm sounding. That is the sound I like. High gain....but good warm mids. If I want a nice scoop sound, I can dip the mids, but to really get a thrashy tone, I guess I will have to run my PQ-3 parametric eq in the loop or something....the amp is just too warm for that.......and that's what I like. THis thing just plain sounds so THICK! I give it a 9 for it's overdrive tones. It's clean tones could have been better (Maybe it's the output level of my LP classics PU's as when you turn down their volume, it sounds much cleaner), but the rest of the amp is just awesome. It's just what I like....heavy and hard without losing Mids and warmth.

Well, I ordered this from musicians friend and the first one arrived broken because for some reason, they felt they only needed to pack it with a few small pieces of foam. Well, they sent me another and their packing didn't improve, but the amp arrived intact.....so I think I can trust it if it can survive ups with little to no protection.

THis amp has to be the most underrated piece of gear out there today.....guitar world gave it 5 out of 5 (and an editor's pick), but they just don't seem to be that popular. I think me and kid rock's lead player are the only two people using this amp (and I don't get 'em free). I think it has to do with hype. Most people (and I have been guilty of this) think....hey, if I buy this particular brand of amp, I will sound like *insert guitar player here*. Well, maybe, maybe not....but the fact is you need to buy something because it is cool, not because so and so uses it. I admit, I bought a dual rectifier becasue of who used 'em, but it never satisfied me. This does. If you want a great rock amp......check one of these out. They are cheaper (and argueably better) than anything anyone else (especially marshall) is making right now. Try one....maybe it'll be your thing...maybe not....but it definately is mine!

2000 model head
this amp is moderately versatile I play grindy punk as well as rock and roll and it overs the basses pretty well.
it has two channels and a foot switch with a channel switch and an effects loop switch.
The only thing I wish were differant about it is its clean channel, it is kinda trebbley and distorts around 3 which makes me sad.
I gig at partys and local shows in small clubs and the amp has more than enough power for those applications.
Its a hit and miss amp, but it has more hits than misses
oh yeah its handles on the side are very cool because I can put my effect prosesser on top

I use every thing from a Gibson Les Paul Jr. with P90s to a Gibson SG with clasic 57 humbukers with a Fender Telecaster with sigle coils, a Univox High Flyer with humbuckers, a Gibson Les Paulwith humbukers, and a Fender Music Master with single coils in between.
It sounds best clean with my tele and LP jr. and it goes well with my playing style I play wierd chords and eratic notes and its distorion breaks up just right for my sound.
It is noiseless (probably because there are brand new tubes in it) in all enviroments.
This amp cant make that many sounds because of the lack of sensitivity of the controls. You can turn the bass up all the way and only get mabey 25% more bottom and the presance seems only to work on the distortion
the clean channel distorts around three on any setting and I dont like that.
but as I have said before the distortion tears so the laimness of the clean channel can be over looked it is kinda like black sabath mixed with mud honey sounding

I havent had it long enough for it to break down yet but it seems so well buit that I shouldent have any probles in the future.
plus it has bias adjustment thingies so that wont be a problem

I have been playing for seven years and I have played on almost every kind of amp. the Sunn T Model is ok its not the best and its not the worst. It could be the king of the amps if the good people at Sunn made some modifications to it. It needs to have no distortion in the clean setting and more bass.
I like my amp alot, its better in tone than a Fender Roc Pro 1000 and has better projetion than a Sovtech Mig 50
I play it though a Marshall JCK 900 B cab and it sounds good even though I am probaly going to get a sunn 4x12 cab in the future.
