I bought this amp in a pawn shop the other day for 52 bucks out the door. I just played a gig with it and it was flawless. The overdrive channel doesn't get much beyond chunky, but when you hit this amps sweet spot it sounds great for blues lead guitar. I play in small clubs and so far this amp cuts nicely. I have never been a big solid state fan but this and my Peavey are making me take another look. the clean channel sounds great, and even this gets kinda crunchy in a good way when you turn the gain all the way up and the master down a little. I am really pleased. It's not an amp that you will get sweet sounds out of at low volume, like a Princeton Reverb. But at band volume this thing kicks ass. I played a pretty good size club and I cut through the rest of the band without any problem.

Well, It's lasted this long, and that's good for at least an 8.

A relatively light single 12 combo with no modeling bull**** on it (cuz they didn't have it back then, thank god). Put a Tube Screamer or a Jeckyl/Hyde in front of it and this baby kicks ass. I think they are easily worth 150 bucks and they are definitely useable in the club circuit or bigger hall if you mic it. I grade somewhat on a curve so considering this cost less than 200 bucks I call it a steal.

This is a great little amp. Clean working effects loop, external speaker, head phone jack, footswitch, brite switch, reverb, master volume control, 2 channels. But the best feature is the Mid Range Freq. Shelving knob in addition to the low, mid, and high controls. This is my trusty little back-up rig. I use a lot of pedals on the front end so it works great for me.

Clean channel is awesome. Very clean, but when you drive channel A in combination with the master volume, it's awesome. I love it with a keeley modded tube screammer sounds incredible. But I would not have felt compelled to give such a gleamin review if I didn't replace the speaker. The originol speaker was old and had some cone cry. In spite of that I still saw the potentential of this amp. I replaced it with a Makie 12" speaker that I had laying around and damn! I got more out of the reverb, pedals everything. Miced with a shure 57 this thing is absolutely gig worthy. The best part is how the range improved on the Mid range freq. I can make a tube screammer get that mid scooped palm mute that is quite tasty. You can do anything with the combination of the Mid and Mid Freq. knob. Unlimited possibilities. If this thing had tubes it would be the most perfect little combo. I plan to replace that speaker with an eminance man of war to take further advantage of that mid range versitility. With my les paul classic and a G2d Morpheus I think I could pull off some pantera songs. Then just roll up the mids plug in a tele and I can play country songs.
The reverb is very transparent with low decay. It's very useful and tasteful. The tray is small and the leads look rusty and I assume from the sound it's a medium 2 spring rig. I long for more reverb but how it sounds is fine. Sometimes less is more so I hesitate to change it.

Built great, it's a tank. Going on 30? Just a reliable little solid state. Some rust. Maybe from the previous owners storage conditions.

The Sunn Co. are no longer plus the thing is so old, also,I bought it used. I would rather just modify it myself and replace anything I need to. To tell you the truth I don't feel that anything will have to replaced. I can choose to replace stuff for improvments or modifycations. But I never take advantage of warrenties anyhow.

This amp was meant for practicing in my apartment while my main rig stays in the rehearsal space. I didn't expect much from it but this amp was engineered very well. I now contimplate using this amp over my fender tube amp just for the convience of less weight and cumbersome transporting. I never stick with stock speakers from any amp and I recommend that know one else do that. You cannot really judge any amps true potential until you find the right speaker match for your style. This amp sounds awesome for what it is.
If lost this amp I would be depressed. You can just order these things or walk in a music store and easily find another.

Made sometime in the 1980s, the exact year is not specified anywhere on it. It's a 60 Watt, 1-12 solid state amp with ttwo channels, clean and drive. The clean channel is crisp, brite and very quite even when turned up loud. The drive channel is not very good for rock, at least without some processing. Comes with a cool channel swithcher, green for clean red for drive channel. I use this amp mostly to practice jazz and blues licks. I have used it with a live band (with drummer) twice and it had enough pop, but barely. It does have headphone out and out for extension speaker. Features Bass, Mid, Adjustable Mid Freq and Treble knobs along with a Brite swich and fairly good sounding reverb. There are two imputs, high and low.

I play an Ibanez blazer, and I use to play a 84 Tele through it. I am kind of a sucker for 80s gear. When playing electic guitar, I mostly play mostly wanking jazz and blues riffs. The amp is not noisy at all, very quiet. Distortion is not what anyone would want "their sound" to be, the clean sound is quite nice, and biting however.

Sometimes I wish this amp would die. Don't get me wrong, I actually really like this little amp, a lot, but would love to pick up a little tube combo like a Naylor or Reverend. I bought the Sunn amp used in 1997 and it has worked FLAWLESSLY, and probably will for many, many years to come.

Sunn was bought by Fender. They discontined the line a couple years back. Too bad, they made some great stuff over the years.

Overall I give this amp an 8. a perfect 5 for the clean side a two for the drive channel and one extra point for style and bullet-proof reliability. I have been playing for more than 20 years and have had many amps. The amp that I have gigged most with was a Lab Series L 11 half stack that I got was used by Ronnie Montrose and Gamma. I still have it and it still works. I use this little Sunn mostly to dink on. In my current project, I mostly play acoustic jazz through a P.A. system. If this amp had a better drive sound, it would be great. The clean sounds good, very quiet and crisp, but it's just so solid state sounding. I bought it because I wanted a little combo and $175 was not a big investment. I bought it used at a cool little music store in Chico, CA. If it were stolen, lost or broken I would probably by a Reverend combo or maybe a Naylor depending on what my checking account looked like.
