I bought this amp new in 1984. I purchased the head and two 4X12 cabs. I went on the road with it for about ten years. I still use it, as a monitor amp when I am in a small club with my small PA. It is powerful and dependable. It has two channels (foot switchable) and an effects loop. I have used it as a main guitar amp, and as a power amp in my guitar rig as I went along through the years. It is solid state, but has a unique sound quality that is all its own. I love this amp.

Sound Quality : 10
I have a strat, PRS, and a 1976 BC Rich with a LP pick up. Well I have expensive tube amps that I use now, but I have it in my stdio and enjoy using now and then. It has a psrsmetric EQ of some kind, and has always been very versital. It has a solid clean sound and a distortion that was way ahead of its time...a wide ranging set of distortions. If I want that sound I have to come back to this amp. A strong personality this amp has.

Reliability : 10
Gee I have had this amp since 1984, and the only problem was with a pot in the EQ section about 4 years ago, but that is it. It is a tank's tank.

Never had to call.

I got my first paying gig in 1968. Yea, I was a teen musician. If I lost this amp it would hurt me deeply. Another thing is the speakers. They do not have a nome on them, but hey have square manets on them. The ysound very good. I guess they are broken in by now.

Uhhhhh..........Sunn's out of bizness last time I checked.

Overall Rating : 10
One of friends recently bought a Stagemaster. Loudest damn thing I've ever heard. It came sans footswitch but with a little bit of hillbilly engineering I incorporated the Sunn switch into the pedal he uses for his Orange. Tight fit but thankfully neither needs batteries. I've got enough parts to build a couple of them.

Dont know what year it was made, we use it as our touring PA for clubs that dont have sound gear. Mostly punk rock, we have never had a problem, its been bumped around a ton without ever letting us down. reverb on the amp works, no overdrive. Whenever we have played with it people are amazed that the vocals are supported by such a small 2/12.

Sound Quality : 8
Not noisy, very clean channels. Advice - don't plug in vocals to both inputs (it looses alot of power) - prolly not meant to be used in this fashion.

Reliability : 10
Very dependable never broken down, treated like shit on tour. It looks BEAT but keeps on working.

Customer Support : No Opinion
NOPE never dealt with company, no warranty, basically SUNN doesnt exist anymore so oh wel.

this amp was made in the 80's. i play country(not a whole lot though,it gives me a headache,hehehe),blues(B.B.KING,buddy guy,T-bone,etc...),and heavy metal(metallica,ozzy,pantera,etc...) this amp is great for my type of playing style or any type of playing style as far as that goes.i use this amp for at home practicing and playing live, and with 125 watts per channel,it has way more power than i'll ever need!the amp is a solid state.when i bought it,i didn't get the footswitch with it,if anyone has one and wants to sell it,let me know. i use all the features,it has a real good reverb on it,and the built in EQ is great!although the built in distortion isnt very good, but you can add a distortion pedal for that.

Sound Quality : 10
i am using a Washburn KC40V electric guitar with seymour duncan pickups (a 59' model and a JB model)effects include a marshall blues breaker,a boss MT-2 metal zone, boss EQ,a ibanez TS9,an 808,and a boss blues driver. i use the Washburn for metal, and my Gibson B.B. KING "Lucille" for the Blues.this amp is not noisy at all,it is very very quiet, when i bought it i did have to clean the pots because it had been sitting for a little while.with the EQ on board it can help you make a variety of different sounds, turn it counter clockwise and turn the treble down and bass up (a little) and you have a great bluesy sound.turn it the other way, then the bass down, and treble up,and add a distortion pedal and its instant metal! the clean channel is clean no matter what the volume is,of all the amps i have used(and that's alot)the stagemaster has the smoothest and cleanest sounding clean channel out there!the built in distortion isn't that great, but hey,buy a distortion pedal that's why they make them!i also have an ibanez slam punk pedal and hooked it up and it sounds almost the same as my metal zone pedal!i would of gave this section a 9 because of the built in distortion not being very aggressive, but when i added my own distortion pedal to it,it brought it up from a 9 to a 10!

Reliability : 10
this amp will be the last thing on this earth, well except for the guy that posted before me,O.K. "our" amps will be the only 2 things left on this earth,LOL!!!this is really a tough amp fella's,i take care of my equiptment so it should last for an eternity.i definetly would NOT need a backup at all,why whould i? it has no heart,it does not breath, therefore it cant die,and if you take care of it,it will take care of you!

Customer Support : No Opinion
i have never had to contact them, and i doubt that i will ever have to.(knock on wood)

Overall Rating : 10
i have been playing since i was 10,i am 30 now,so 20 years total.washburn kc40v, Gibson B.B. King "Lucille" and a bunch of effects pedals that i mentioned above, also forgot to add my boss chorus and my boss digital delay pedals in there.if it were lost or stolen,i would yank his nuts up through his neck and smack em' with a hammer, and take my amp back! BUT,if i couldn't find him then yes,i would get another one(if i could find another one, unless the guy who posted before me wanted to sell his,LOL and i doubt very seriously that he will)i love everything about this amp,i do not hate anything about it at all.if you find one of these amps, jump on it!(no, not literally,i mean buy it! LOL)

This amp was built in 1980.it is 125 watts on each power section.but you can bridge them by foot switch for an honest 250 watts It has a parimeteric graph.which is cool for the kind of music I play.I play country, and some rock.I do alot of stage playing and the power is great. You don't have to run it on 10 to get a good bite out of it.When I do session work when you don't need alot of volume it still has the bite .This is a solid state with 2-12,s.The age is catching up with it,it is beginning to be sort of noisey

Sound Quality : 9
I play valley arts guitars.some with duncan s/s/h some with vintage delta tone single coils.some with duncan hot rails.I play mostly country this amp is perfect for that,on hotter stuff It does no destort very well it has to much raw power when you fire it up to distort it is entirely to loud.

Reliability : 10
This old gal has never let me down.It is the only amp I use playing out.

Customer Support : No Opinion
don't know about repairs never need them

Overall Rating : 10
I been playing sence I was 8 and now I am 44 I guess that is a long time.If it were stolen I would buy another one If I could find one.I have had twins.supers, peavey's,other sunn's,but they would be hard pressed to be what this amp is.
