I don't know much about supro amps. I don't even know what year it was built.I bought the amp 1 year ago not in working order.50$ and a set of groove tubes 6l6's and it has worked great every since.Has the bass guitar input (supposed to be a bass amp), and accordian input, and guitar input. The guitar input has the sweetest overdriven tones immaginable.I play teles, strats, les pauls, gretsch's guilds and a couple others if I left anything out.I like the fact that I can take it anywhere and play guitar though the guitar channel and my wife play bass through the bass channel.

Sound Quality : 10
First off i already mentioned the guitar channel sweeeet! This channel alone would covince me this is an awsome amp.If you want real loud and clean like a fender twin then this is probably not your amp.If you like botique(spelling?) sounds @lower volumes so your ears are not bleeding then this amp should have you covered.Today I plugged in a guild starfire II into the accordian channel and was just blown away with the sweet jazz blues tones it had, I have never heard anyone mention this in reviews. The amp is quiet no unwanted hum.I haven't gigged with it yet but I am shure that I will.I plan on buying a fender 63 reissue reverb unit to compliment the amp,I play country , classic rock, and rockabilly and blues so the reverb thing is important to me. The tremelo works fine not as deep as my fender though.

Reliability : No Opinion
the 88t is a 40 year old amp that sounds fantastic still going strong what more can I say.The repairman said he had to replace caps and when doing so i replced the 6l6,s with groove tubes. After I have played the amp longer I will gig with and take along a backup.Probably my Peavey classic 30

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never had to and I do not believe there around anyways

Overall Rating : 10
I have about ten amps most of them tube reissue fenders ,
63 vibroverb, vibrolux custom, 65 twin ,music man 115 w/jbl,two woodson w150's and gibson ga5, silvertone 112 .This amp has a sound all of its own or at least different than anything I have played. If lost or stolen I would definately replace.I may even look for another. These are a bargain for what they are selling for on ebay.Mine gas the original Jensens and is in exellent shape I would easily pay a 1000$ for another if mine was gone.I have used a zoom 505 II and a pod line 6 floor pedal and with the boost of power input I have all the volume i should need.

2 channels "standard", and "bass", each with a volume, and tone control. 2 inputs per channel. Tremolo speed, and intensity controls on the standard channel. 2 6L6s driving the power amp, and 12AX7s for the preamp. 2 Jensen 12" speakers. This might sound like a very spartan control layout, but the "tone" controls are tuned so correctly that you really don't miss having seperate bass, mid, and treble controls. Since this is really a forum for personal opinions, I have to say that for my purposes the features on this amp are tops. Only thing that I changed was to replace the old 2 prong power cord with a properly grounded 3 prong

I mostly run a my Telecaster, or my Les Paul through the amp. I jam with 2 other guys in a power trio line up (both loud players) and was surprised to find how well this amp cut through in that situation. While this amp has a beautifully pure clean tone at before you get above say 5 or 6 on the volume knobs, you really need to "turn it up to 11" to hear that famous Supro tone. Just a little added gain between your ax and this amp turns it into a real fire breather ( I would compare the volume and style of distortion to an old 50 watt Marshall half stack. When I first got the amp I was using the gain controls on an old Peavey SRP-16 digital reverb pedal to boost the input signal. Now I'm using a Scott's Crispy Cream pedal to do the same job (nice pedal...I've got a sound sample on the Crispy Cream website doing "Moby Dick" through my Champ Amp, but I digress....). I don't think that the new Metal guys out there would find what they're looking for in this amp, but if you want to dial in a really stripped down, basic hard rock tone, you might equal the Supro with another amp, but I don't believe that you could top it. Now the one added feature, the tremolo very spooky/swampy thing going on there! I own an original blackface Twin Reverb from the 60s, and I'm telling you....the Supro trem is the hands down winner! And a little trick I stumbled across...if you patch the tremolo, and the non tremolo channels together, and play with the volume controls you can arrive at an almost "Univibe" sound.

The Amp was newly overhauled, including new tubes when I bought it in the spring of 2001, and since then about 2 or 3 times a month it has been cranked for 3 or 4 hours in a jam situation, no problems yet. I'll take a point off because it IS almost 40 years old, so who knows when it's going to need a little work

Customer Support : 8
Obviously no factory support available any longer, but just like an old classic car from the 60s, much less complicated to work on than todays amps, so no real problem finding qualified service person to work on it.

Overall Rating : 10
If this amp were lost, or stolen I doubt if I'd be able to find another amp with equally gorgeous tone for less than 3 or 4 times what I paid for this one. The amp is just perfect for the classic rock sound that I favour.
