Rectifier: 1 X 5U4G
23.625 in. wide, 19 in. tall, 11.25 in. deep, 38 lbs. Manufactured by Valco from 1964 to 1967 and then by Kay in 1968 until the end of the model. Serial # is usually hand written inside the cabinet however some models did receive chrome placards which had the serial number and this would have been displayed on the outside of the amplifier on the back plate that covered the panel.
Retailed for $227.50 when released in 1964. As a side note $277.50 in 1964 would be equivalent to $1,895.00 in 2008 so this was not a cheap amplifier in it's day.

The standard sound would be through a Fender Telecaster with no pedals; in this configuration it sounds amazing. It was designed with rock a billy and blues in mind and last minute addition as an accordion amplifier allowing the musician to take full advantage of the power coming from the 15" Jensen. With 4 inputs the sounds you can obtain are endless.
The tremolo is smooth and warm and seems to swim along forever and in the foot switch and it makes it easy to go back and forth between clean and effect.
Take this amp to the next level and push it hard to the limits and you might just find that the breakup of the Jensen sounds really good and it is no wonder that it was a favorite amongst early rock bands of the 60's. Throw a TS808 pedal in front of it and listen as the heavenly sounds of rock and roll just pour out of this combo.
Reliability

This amplifier is now 40 - 44 years old and if you are lucky enough to have one then you know how reliable this amplifier is. Point to point wiring, easy to find and easy to replace tubes makes maintenance on these units very easy. I own one that is 44 years old and it looks worn but it looks a lot better then my 5 year old Mesa Boogie.

Customer support... well that is you! This company went out of business years ago and even though you can find the company name being used by a company out of Arizona you can guarantee they do not stock parts for this amplifier and probably wouldn't know it was a Supro if the name wasn't on it.
You would be better off finding an amp guru and making close friends with them.

If you are looking for a period piece to complete your collection and you already own the majors such as the JCM 800, AC30, 59' Bassman or the Mark 1 and you are looking to add yet another style to your quiver, if you can find one of these rare amplifiers then you had better jump on it before these are too expensive to justify the cost. When it comes right down to it a guitar and amp combo can make or break a sound and if you have this amp sitting in the studio you have half the equation decided.
