Mine is the taller combo with the blue front facing control panel and silver grill with black tolex. Complete with large gold Supro logo. Features are a 1X10 Jensen speaker, 1 GY3GT rectifier tube, 1 6V6 power tube and 2 12AX7 pre amp tubes. On the front panel there are 3 input jacks and 1 foot switch jack. The footswitch is an on/off for the tremolo. 1 knob for volume, 1 knob for tone and 1 knob for tremolo speed. This amp has all of the features to be expected at this time in the 60's for an amp this size. Most amps at this time had very limited features. The tremolo is one of the sweetest ever. This is no doubt a recording amp and when recorded the tremolo shines like you would not believe. Just adjust the knob so the trem speed matches the tempo of your song. It's creamy sounding, so smooth. The amp has a completely open back. The speaker and tubes are completely exposed. Get this, even the circuits are exposed under the chassis! There is a carrying handle on the top of the amp and a very thin grey hardwired power cable with 2 prong connector. The amp is a loud 5 watts. Because of the tremendous functionality of the few features it has there really is no wishing for more here.

Think Led Zeppelin I. Max the volume and tone on the amp. Plug in a Les Paul (w/ 57 pickups) select the any combination of the pickups and your guitars volume and tone controls and you can absolutely nail any tone on that record. With everything full tilt and a little roll off on the guitars volume and the bridge humbucker you can even get that gritty clean tone Page captured on his electric leads during Babe I'm Gonna Leave You in the bars before "...We're gonna go walking in the park everyday". Remember those bends? Thats's the dirty/clean tone you get by maxing the amp's volume but rolling off the guitars volume. With the neck pickup you have the chunky lead tones of "How Many More Times" Other Zeppelin tracks exhibit this amps tonal capabilities. "The Girl I love (she has long black wavy hair)" is exact.
Also...
Think Aqualung lead tone. In fact, I heard Jethro Tull's Guitar player liked to use supro's in the studio. Again, with everything full tilt and a LP with 57's and bridge pickup and your there.
The amp is also very quiet. Perfect for all types of classic/blues rock.

I've only had mine for 6 months but no problems at all. Which is a LOT more than I can say for some of the newer 5w tube amps like the epiphone value jr. Which I had to return 3 of due to failure.

Love it. It is my main recording amp for classic tones. What else can I say? If it got stolen I would buy another. And, In my opinion, due to its rarity and amazing tone this amp is worth a TON more than some people are selling them for. I wouldn't sell mine for $2000. And you can find them for $400-$500!!!! In other words, no buyers remorse with this one! More like sellers remorse!!!! I also run a Boogie Mark IV, Orange Tiny Terror, Gibson GA-5 Goldtone, fender deluxe 90 and a vox pathfinder 15. The Supro is my favorite.

Mine's a '63, controls & tube lineup have been covered. Prime ones though are a killer tremelo, superb build quality like most valcos, & tone for days. I really wish the trem' had a depth control & reverb woulda been nice, but it's a stone simple tone monkey.

I'm really fond of single ended 6v6 amps with 5y3gt rectifiers & have had about every vintage make, but the Trojan might be the best. (Only the old Silvertone 1481s can compete!) As the other reviewers have noted it is amazingly flexible. Serves up a crisp clean tone & when stabbed with my Gretsch it drives perfectly. Sounds huge mic'd --one of my prime weapons live & in the studio. So light & small that the mic'ing is much easier (& better) than hauling a bigger rig, plus the sweet spot on the verge of breakup is easy to find. Records huge & stellar. I play rootsy stuff w/o many boundaries, from Stooges to Merle to Waits & the Trojan is the go-to unit. Amazing amp. I'll say again that it has a stunning Tremelo. Plus it is nearly dead quiet when idling. Just a phenomenal tone machine

I mainly play vintage amps because they serve up the tone & the reliability at a fraction of the cost of new boutique stuff. They take some maintenance though, which ain't a big deal, because they are so reliable & easy to maintain. That said, my Trojan hasn't needed squat even with being played a ton & hauled around for years while I've had it & had who knows what done to it in the 30 years before I got it. Unbeatable on this front.

I've been laying it down for more than 20 yrs. The Supro Trojan is now one of my main tools. I came to it fairly late after playing lots of other great gear, but it beats most for most applications. Most importantly, it consistently inspires me whether gigging or recording. I ain't letting go of mine.

I've been told that this amp was made anywhere from '59 to '63, but '63 seems closer to the truth because of the seafoam blue trim, black vinyl and chrome. I play anything from alt country with a lot of clean slide to overdriven neil young type stuff to jangly Byrds-style junk and heavy Randy Rhodes/Frippy overindulgencies. This amp never lets me down. It can't compete in volume with a marshall stack but I've been playing it live exclusively for 10 years and have never had any problems with it (I don't do to many arenas). It's got three channels and for some reason the middle one sounds the best. I imagine that the three channels are for instrument, voice, and accordian as a lot of these vintage amps were. I would love to hear the reverb like on the Corsica, but most studios and sound men have effects so I've never had a real problem with that absence. Everything about this amp says simple is best and all the efforts in design seem to have gone into tone, and this amp has it in spades. It has a 5Y3 rectifyer tube, a 6V6 power tube, and 2 12AX7 preamp tubes. I usually overdrive it with a moderate amount of distortion from my Tube Works pedal and set the volume at about 4, which gives me enough presence to lay back or scream without have to adjust anything except my attack. I have an old Ampeg VT40, and a Silvertone twin, but I use this one for everything.

I play a '61 Strat, '65 345, '73 Tele Custom, '83 Rickenbacher 330, and occaissionally I'll pull out my '60s Vox Phantom 12-string just to hear the oohs and aahs. Each of them requires a little adjustment on the tone and overdrive settings but they each sound incredible through this amp. The Phantom screams real bad and I have to turn the tone on the amp all the way down, and the Rick comes off a little thin (it sounds better through a Vox AC15, but what doesn't?). All the guitars have stock pick-ups except for the Tele which came without the bridge humbucker. I put in a Seymour Duncan which is as warm as buttered popcorn. The amp is not grounded so it buzzes pretty bad with the Strat, but that is usually due to the wiring of whichever building I may be in. It doesn't buzz at all in my home. You can also usually get rid of most of the buzzing by turning the plug over (the plug does not have the one larger side). I have been able to get every sound I've ever tried out of this amp (which is not to say I've exhausted every possibility, it just works for me). I have had some problems with the amp in tone in relation to how it comes off in the mix because sound guys usually boost the highs and mids for guitars and this causes it to get lost in the mix sometimes. It has a tone of it's own and once you play it you'll begin to hear it on other recordings, but as I've said it's versatility is why I play it exclusively.

Occassionally I get a dirty tube sound that is like rustling paper, and sometimes it picks up CBs, but that seems to be true of most vintage tube equipment. It has never broken down and I always only bring one amp. Everything on it is original except for the power chord. It was flimsy and wound up shorting out. I repaired it before it ruined a gig. Also, the handle broke off about 5 years ago. It's easily repairable, but as it is so light and easy to carry I haven't gotten round to it.

I've been playing about 25 years and have been through about as many different amps. I only buy vintage equipment (except for the Rick, which is young at 20) so I understand the problems that 30 and 40 year old equipment has. Of all my gear this amp has given me the fewest (near none) problems. I've been trying to buy another one on ebay for a while now, but it seems like everyone has caught on to these gems. If it were stolen or lost I would be devastated because when I think about how I play and what I sound like it is described by this amp. I wish it had a grounded plug and the handle back on. I think reverb would be nice, because then it would be plug and play in any situation.

Not much for features...BUT...it has the most important feature....TONE ! Seriously, though, the only "controls" on it are tone, volume, and tremelo speed.
This is a small, low wattage, 1x10 combo amp...it has (1)6V6GT, (2)12AX7's, and (1) 5Y3GT rectifeir tube....pretty simple, no B.S.

This amp sounds amazing...I generally use it with teles or 335's, but it also sounds incredible with a 58 Les Paul Special....tons of tone, clean or overdriven. The tremelo circuit is among the best, if not "the" best i've ever heard. Plus...it looks cool too :)

I primarily use this amp for recording (along with a fender bandmaster, a fender bassman, a fender pro jr, a marshall JMP, a silvertone 1484, a ampeg jet, and a few others...what can i say...i like amps...), and in the studio, this thing is amazing...great texture to the sound, and the tremelo circuit absolutely kicks ass. If it was stolen, i'd spend the rest of my existence hunting another one down :) Best $175 I've ever spent...PERIOD.
BTW...i play primarily alt country and rock, kinda like Neil Young, Tom Petty, Whiskeytown, Steve Earle, Lucinda Williams, and Wilco...that should give you some ideas about the tones you can get with this amp.
