Heard Led Zeppelin I? 'Nuff said. It's like baby AC30 or Marshall bluesbraker combo. Mike it up and destroy the world.

Had to replace the original tubes and have gone thru 2 vintage Jensens, cuz the distortion will shred a speaker. Other than that, 40+ years old and will fry an egg.

The man at the flea market said ten dollars. I said "would you take 8?" He said sure. I was very happy. Sounds especially good with my Fenders, but the Gretsch sounds great theu it as well. A p90 will give the nastiest, rudest tone you'll ever hear. I have put it side by side with a tweed Champ and the sound is the same!

Very limited but that can be good. 8" speaker, volume control, that's it. It does require a good guitar set-up and decent playing technique to control the sound, like any one or two knob amp. Also the guitar must match the amp, tonally. Mostly used for practice, some recording, although I prefer a Champ for that over this one.

I use single coils mostly and they seem to sound better with this amp than humbuckers. The small speaker, 8" has its limitations and can be overpowered easily so one must be careful. It has a pleasing clean richness at low volumes and gets a overdriven at higher volume levels, but not as much as a champ will. Also, the distortion can get a bit harsh, compared to a champ.

It's worked pretty well since I bought it, in 2002, but I haven't abused it. It's so simple that there isn't much to go wrong. The parts that are there have been reliable so far. For an old amp it's holding up well.

I've been playing since the Led Zep days and I've had lots of tube amps and played through lots of tube amps, and this one is pretty decent, but not great. Mine is in good condition and sounds pretty good for limited application, though not as good as a Fender Champ IMHO. The Champ seems to be more versatile too as far as pickup and guitar combinations paired with it go. Someone, here, mentioned that this is the amp that J.Page used on the first album and I'm not sure. I'm a big Zep fan and I've read many interviews with the master over the years and he only mentions using a small supro. That could be a lot of supros other than this model! I've tried a wah, original tonebender with a few vintage teles including a late fifties one with this amp and it just wasn't the sound on the record. It wasn't bad, but it must have been manipulated to a great degree or another supro model amp was used. I'm thinking something with a bigger speaker, but still low powered and "small" as Page states. Also, compared to an older Champ this amp just doesn't have the goods.

not sure what year.
I have used the amp in the studio with awesome results. the producer was well please with my tone. I did use several pedals with it but it does sound pretty good by itself especially for jazz.
I use this amp for practice and in the studio for a varity of styles.
Its a great simple tube amp. Its strange ive owned this amp since the late seventies and now manufacturers are making new amps with the same simplicity of this amp. I was blessed it was given to me by a singer in a group I used to be in. He saw it at a goodwill shop and paid like 15 bucks for it! Bought it to practice and said here I thought you might like this. Since then Ive grow to love it.

I use a strat. My sound comes mostly thru pedals. I usually run into the board live. I have a solid state amp but I cant get to great a sound with it. But with the supro my pedalboard comes to life. All my model sounds are warm and rich.Im thinking about using it live miked with a 57. I can crank it almost all the way with no distotion and thats what i need.

My little Supro was built in 1957. I've used the amp on stage numurous times, miked and raw. Three tubes, one knob, and an eight inch speaker is simply one of the best sounding setup I use. I play either my Esquire or Tele into the super or supro input and away I go separated by a patch cord. For playing slide I run my Japanese Beltone on full. Nothing sweeter sounding than that rig. I've owned it since 1990. Extremly portable and if any one has a chance to obtain one don't ever get ride of it.

This little guy was made by the Valco company of Chicago. Valco manufactured amps for numerous distributors, including Gretsch, National, Ward, and Supro. Not sure of the year of manufacture, but I'd guess this one's from the late fifties. It's not a versatile amp at all; it is the ultimate "one-trick pony" practice/recording amp. It pushes around 5 watts through a blue-label Jensen 8"-speaker, and has three inputs, a fuse, and a white jewel pilot lamp all located on the top-mounted silver faceplate. The lone knob doubles as the on/off and the volume; there is no tone control. The tolex covering is very unusual, sort of a dark-gray tweed in appearance, and the grill cloth that was once silver has been discolored after years of cigarette smoke. A metallic "Supro" logo is affixed to the grill in the upper left-hand corner. Tube complement is one 6V6 power tube, a 5Y3 rectifier, and 1 (or maybe 2?) 12AX7 preamp tubes.

I use this amp strictly for home practice with my '52 reissue telecaster. While P90s or humbuckers might overpower the tiny speaker, my tele's single coils are a perfect match for it. Even the neck pickup can produce some boominess at full volume, but the bridge is sweet and biting on all settings. This amp has a pronounced mid-range hump similar to a similar-era tweed Champ, and lends a wonderful character to my tone. Next to this Supro, my '73 Vibro Champ seems almost polite.

While this is my third "vintage" amp, it is by far the oldest of the trio. This means that it was well-built and simple to repair, but it also means that a certain amount of preventative maintenance should be expected. I plan on taking it to a qualified amp tech for thorough inspection, since I don't know the last time it was ever serviced. After this, though, I expect years of trouble-free enjoyment. In any type of performance situation, however, it would be silly not to bring a backup.

I've been playing for almost thirty years. I concentrated on acoustic guitar until my early thirties, and then I became interested in electric guitars and amps. I have also been a bassist in a working band. Besides my acoustic stuff, I own mostly Fender gear: a '52 Reissue Telecaster, a 1977 Pro Reverb, and a 1973 Vibro Champ. The Pro (45 watts) is used at gigs and jams, and the VC does a fantastic job of recreating the Pro Reverb's tone and vibe, as well as its interaction with my pedals, all at a reasonable volume. The Supro allows me to get a decidedly different tone than my Fender amps without resorting to pedals. It's really just an inspiring little plug'n'play amp, which is great motivation for effective practice.

I don't know what to say for this category. It has only one knob (the on off volume knob) That's it. I guess you could say that it has alot of options if you use different guitars ie humbuckers or single coils. It only has one knob and even that controls the on off.
It has one 6V6GT and one 12AX7 and one 5Y3 rectifier and a 8 inch Jensen special design speaker. two inputs, it is also a very pretty amp. I love the color of the jewel, it is a spooky hypnotic sea green type color.

Well let's see. Jimmy Page supposadly used this one for a lead amp for hich screaming. This is supposed to be the amp used for the lead on Stairway. ALso it is the number one favorite amp of the Stone Temple Pilots guitarist. SO if you like these guys sound you'll love the amp because it is the one they use. As for me personally I think the amp is one awesome piece of sonic hell gear. It kills a Fender Champ (tube) Tweeds to. I do not think there is a more awesome little sized amp in the world that could beat this thing. It sounds like pure demonic possession of an amp. I will never get rid of it and it along with my THunderbolt will be buried with me. 10 is not nearly high enough for this amp I give it on a scale of 1-10 I'd give it a 1,000,000.

Long gone and again Matchless has the name and still hasn't done crap with the name. I hate you Matchless. The guys at Oahu amps want to reissue Supro line and they can't because you Jackazzes are sitting on the name and rights to Supro. Either do something or give the name to the Oahu guys at Jester Enterprises.

Mine was mint so it was worth the couple extra for a mint one. What do I love about it? Well it is the most awesome amp I've ever heard for only having one knob. Sound wise it kills a Champ tweed or black or silverface. This is one incredible amp.
