Fairly straight-forward. Volume control, on/off switch, active eq, XLR in and out, 1/4" in, and ground lift switch. 60 watts, solid state.

I bought it to compliment my Digitech GNX2. I tried using my Marshall but the amp, speaker, and cabinet colored the sound too much, especially when you turned up the volume. With the Power Engine you get the same tone regardless of volume. I didn't realize how good the GNX2 sounded until now. The PE is a must have for the multi-effects users out there.

I haven't had it long enough to say. It looks well built, very sturdy.

I have e-mailed Tech 21 twice over the last two weeks and have not received a reply. Makes me wonder why they even have the address on their web site. A simple technical question was all I asked. The question: What type of wood is your cabinet made of?

I've been playing for 20 years. I enjoy my GNX2 and with the Power Engine, I enjoy it even more. I don't believe in a perfect product but the PE is an excellent compliment to my effects processor. If they had answered my e-mail - I would have given it a higher overall rating.

XLR In & Out 1/4'' Jack In & Out. Best suited for use with guitar pre-amp. I am using this with POD 1.4, use a stereo jack out of POD - XLR in (balanced out) for optimum output.

Using POD and 'PE60' for Funk/Rock styles. This is the best combination yet. Tried POD with Fender Blues DeLuxe... too much top and a bit uncontrollable. This combination will fill a hall/bar 150/200 people without going through PA.
EQ is pretty good. You don't have to add much.
I'm using with a 'Strat' fitted with single coil 'Bill Lawrence' P/ups.

Would appear reliable although not gigged enough to test. Very well made and good cover. Don't know yet

This unit didn't have a manual, I emailed Tech 21 asking for PDF or send manual.... still wating. You don't really need a manual to operate.

Excellent if you are looking for something to amplify POD. It is light and not too expensive and loud enough to cope with a loud drummer/bass player. Can't comment if you are into seriously loud metal.

1x12 open back cabinet (full range speaker, not guitar speaker) with solid state 60W power amp. Volume control, Active 3-band EQ, 1/4" in, XLR in, XLR out w/ ground lift. For what it is supposed to be used for the features are suitable. Weighs in at around 35 lbs.

I initially bought this to use with my Boss GT-3 preamp/processor and had good results. That said, I would highly recommend this to anyone with a rack/floor preamp who needs a transparent *practice amp*. My current setup is a PRS CU22 into rack with Rocktron Piranha, and T.C. Electronics M-One fx. I use the XLR out of the Piranha into the Power Engine 60 XLR in. I must use the XLRs of the Piranha because they are speaker simulated, and the PE 60's speaker is full range like a PA. ***Remember that this amp is basically a mini-PA so you have to treat guitar signals appropriately.
The Power Engine 60 does a nice job of amplifying what is put into it without additional coloration of the programmed sound. I will caution that this is a 1x12 *very open* back cabinet and the sound is affected by this. For the kind of music I play (hard rock), I wish I had bought a 2x12 closed back cab and separate rack mount power amp. I plan to do just that when I get out of the apartment scenario or play out again. My future plan for this unit is to amplify Electric/Acoustic guitar sounds which I think it will excel at. I could even see using this as an on-stage monitor for live work. Just connect a slave out from the mixer into the XLR in and you are all set.

I have not really put it through tough times yet, but it seems to be fairly robust. Just don't slam it down or throw it.

I had a PSA-1 in the past, and they answered some of my questions about it. They seem to take pride in their product, and the customer service is better than most companies.

I've been playing off and on for about 10 yrs. with 4 yrs. of college falling into the middle of that time. It this unit were lost or stolen I would consider getting another one, but only if I were still living in an apartment and needed the low power option. I think it is a great option for someone who owns a POD, DG Stomp, Boss GT-x, Zoom pedal, or a rack preamp w/ speaker simulator to use as a practice amp or small gig amp.

This is a power amp in a 1X12 cab; you must supply the preamp or run it from another amp. I use it with a Korg ax1000g multi-effects pedal. It has level, bass, mid, and treble controls which are active - i.e. they cut and boost their respective frequencies. It's clean, solidstate power designed to faithfully reproduce what's put into it. Oh, the best feature of all: it weighs 33lbs!!!!

I use a strat and a 335 through my pedal and into the power engine 60. They bill this as being able to reproduce whatever is put into it with no coloration. While it will reproduce what's put in, it still is an open back 1x12 combo and sounds like ...well, an open back 1x12 combo. I guess it's just a matter of physics. Anyway, this thing is good for what I wanted. The wattage doesn't translate to the same db level that a similarly rated tube combo does and so I mic it. Sometimes it's hard to get the "in between" sounds you can get with a tube amp by changing attack, but this has more to do with whatever you're using as a preamp than with this amp. The only negative on this amp's sound is the fact that, when cranked and when I play over the 13th or 14th fret, the speaker emits a real shrill harmonic-- like the speaker can't handle it. Although this is the only problem I find with the amp, to me it's a significant one and really shouldn't occur with a 60 watt solid state amp with a speaker that's rated at 100 watts.

Seems dependable, I just wish it didn't have the shrill speaker syndrome I mentioned earlier.

I own/have owned quite a bit of gear. My mainstay is a Trace Elliot Custom shop 4x10, 50 watt tube combo(the Bonneville). The power engine 60 is good for when I want portability and that's what I love about it. The sound, in general, is good. The only thing I hate is that shrill speaker thang.

This is a 1x12 with a sixty watt power amp made to not color the sound. It has a three band active EQ to compensate for the room your playing in. It has several connection options. The cab is covered in black tolex with a tweed grill. it has metal corners and a carrying strap. I rated it very versatile since it is made to sound like what you would hear in your preamp or processor through headphones without adding its own character. it is made to work with tech 21's own stuff or any other manufactures products.

I currently use a les paul studio or a warmouth strat with a zoom gfx8 and a sansamp psa-1. You can use this for any style you can throw at it. What you put into it is what you get out of it. my only problem is the speaker is very directional. You must be positioned well to get the actual sound.

Overall I love it. I can get another one and run in stereo or chain them together with as many as I want. Again the only negitive thing I can say is the speaker is very directional. i just wish they made a 2x12 version that could be run in stereo.

Fairly recent. The amp is a power engine. It is very transparent--as it should be. I use it with my Trademark 10. 60 watts, 12-inch speaker, three e.q. controls and a volume. That's it. For what it is, it is very versatile for running a pre-amp device through. I sure it would be great with a Pod but I sold mine because I like the TR10 so much better. I prefer analog to digital and I don't use much effects. It's easy to find the tone without scrolling menus and twiddling knobs for hours on end. Not that that's a bad thing. I just spent too much time searching.

I play a Telecaster Nashville and a Peavey Predator Plus through a Trademark 10 into the Power Engine. It sounds like my amp--only louder. To me, my amp sounds great and the sound coming out of the Power Engine sounds great. I am still using a standard hi-z cable between the two. I will be getting an XLR cable soon but I can't complain even now.

I bought this unit used but it shows no sign of abuse and works fine. If it's like my Trademark 10, it should be great. I would recommend these products for anyone who needs a versatile, well made amp that won't break your back.

I currently use this with Tech21's Trademark 60. Whatever tone I get out of the trademark I also get out of the Powerengine. There is also a 3 band active eq on this so you can alter your tone if you wish. This can be useful. I boost the mids on mine slightly and get a huge tone between the two tech 21 products. In essense the two of them together gives me one real powerful and portable amp. I have also used it with a gt2. I've tried it with other processors and it faithfully reproduced the sounds I had in my headphones or had gotten to tape.

I've come to totally depend on tech 21 products. I'm not sponsored by them but I have a few items from there line. They have never let me down or even had a glitch. I've used my powerengine/trademark combo all over manhattan and long island and for constant rehersals for about 2 years now...never a problem

60W single channel solid state; 1/4 and XLR input/output; 12 in specially designed speaker, volume and active 3 band EQ. Eq controls produce a flat response when set at 12 o'clock and cut/boost (vs cut only for passive controls). This amp was designed to be a "blank slate"...i.e. not to impose it's own sound, but to accurately reproduce a signal without additional coloration that often occurs in guitar amps.

I currently drive this amp with a Digitech RP 2000 modeling preamp with 1/4 outs (I wish the preamp had XLR's so I try this setup). My primary guitars are 2 '96 Hamer Daytonas, an '83 Hamer Special Flametop, and a '54 Les Paul Goldtop (not the reissue, mind you). With the exception of the Les Paul, which has Seymour Duncan Soapbars, the guitars are completely stock. I bought this amp so I could accurately reproduce the sound I was hearing in my headphones in a "live" environment. My previous setup was the RP2000 driving a 50/50 Tube amp with 2 1x12 Celestion enclosures. My problem was the tube power amp and the celestions were imparting so much of their own color that it completely (and negatively) affected the sound I had worked so hard to get in my headphones. This is especially important since I'm an apartment dweller and can't experiment with "stage" volumes in my home. In this regard the Power Engine has been absolutely terrific...as advertised it accurately reproduces the signal without a hint of coloration. Now I can tweak to my heart's content and know the sound I'm hearing on the phones is exactly what will come out of the speaker. However, be very careful with the active EQ...if everything's set at 12 o'clock, you get a flat response but even minor tweaks to the amp's eq will make major changes. My advice is to tailor your sound before it gets to the amp and only use the onboard eq to fix a bad room...i.e. use it to cut rather than boost. Also remember that this amp sounds as good as the preamp that's drivin it...garbage in, garbage out. In my case, I'm very satisfied with the sound I'm betting with my currentl setup. I have never heard a "10"...not sure it exists because for 30 years I've been trying to find it. This little amp comes close

I live in Tokyo and this amp was bounced around a bit in shipment, causing a bit of damage to the output "ie" (whatever that is). It was an easy and low cost fix (even in Tokyo) and I can't blame the manufacturer for rough handling from the postal folks. I can't say much about it since I've only owned it for a short time. If it's like most Tech 21 products, I expect good reliability

Overall, I'd recommend this amp to people like me that rehearse quietly or with headphones and record direct, and need to reproduce their sound at high stage volumes. I'm looking to buy another in the near future to complete the stereo effect of the headphones.

this amp is used to amplify everything from a fuzz pedal, to a effects rack, to a pre-amp rack unit. the tones you hear from your
rack is what comes out of the speaker. it's not colored by a amp pre-
amp. the speaker is rated for 100 watts. if you have xlr outputs on
your,use them,because it does make a difference.
