this is a mid 60's teisco checkmate 66 solid state amplifier for guitar. it has one channel with two inputs that seem to be the same.i use it for bass and it has a really clean sound at low to mid volume. when it's turned wide opened it distorts nicely. it has a volume and a tone control. it has a tremelo that can be operated by a foot switch or at the amp. it also has a red light that flashes when the tremelo is on.that right there gets it a 5 rating. oddly enough it has two 6 inch speakers. they must of gotten a deal on them and had to do something with them, because most amps of this nature would have a single speaker.i just use it at the house so it's loud enough for me to pratice with.i bet this thing is every bit of 5 watts.

i play heavy metal and use a 1984 fender precision elite bass.i dont demand much from my pratice amps, so it doesnt bother me that this amp doesnt produce a variety of sounds. i will give it high marks for being quite but then again thats probably the result of adding a three prong power chord to it.

i can depend on this amp. it's too simple for anything to go wrong. if anything ever does give out on me it will be that flashing red tremelo light.

as we all know teisco has gone the way of univox and jordan. they were nice enough to paste a circut diagram on the inside so if i ever did have to have it worked on, the repair tech wouldn't be in the dark.

if this amp was stolen i would be sad and then go buy a harmony amp with the red racing stripe down the grill cloth or something equally cheesey
