Not sure of the year older model for sure The amp is quite versatile to a point No metal here with out pedals but great cleans and nice blues/ acdc type tones in the drive section I wish the drive section had more punch but I hooked up a 10 band eq and wow! it made all the difference It also gives the highs more clarity as the trace is a bit bottom heavy
I use it on my gigs For blues or classic rock no pedals just the footswitch eq wa and tuner For country gigs I ad a screaming blues and a compressor for the Nashville overdrive thing Although solid state this is a great amp nice clean and one of the sweetest od channels of any amp I have played tube or not not a ton of features but how many do you really need?

Sound Quality : 10
I use my strat mostly jeff beck noiseless pickups It suits my style very well jazz/blues with some classic rock Its not noisy at all although there is some hiss on the od channel with the eq The clean is very nice halfway and its quite loud and full the ist od is nice and smooth the 2nd more saturated with a nice boost which I keep on all the time nice verb not a fender but has its own personality

Reliability : 10
so far so good I usually have a small combo in the trunk but thats just guitar player paranoia

been playing over 30 years if I lost this I would get another no doubt about it I love how simple it is and the great sounds with no pedals at all Separate master vol on clean and od would be nice If I could have the ultimate trace I would have 3 channels with separate eq for each one but for an inexpensive solid state amp it really holds its own against the bigger boutique models very impressive and it looks cool too

This is a solid state combo. 80 watts thru a Celestion G12T-60 speaker. It's a two channel amp, with two drive modes and a boost in the drive section. All operated by footswich. Also equiped with Reverb, effectsloop and master prescense and volume. This amp uses FET technology for it's tube like response. These amps were build between 1994 en 1996 and is finished in Britisch Racing Green Tolex. Mine was build in 1996. Nothing fancy on this amp. The only problem is the fact that the drive switch is small en mounted between the gain and bass knobb in the drive section. I don't understand why they did that. The sound difference between the two drive modes are huge. They should have made it footswitchable.

Sound Quality : 9
I mainly use a strat or a es 335 copy. I play in a blues/ rock style.
This amp has a rich clean sound. Very tube like. The amp is very responsive and compliments my guitars. Also the drive section has that tube feeling. Nothing fizzy here, but nice, full tones. It won't do metal, but has enough gain for most styles. The eq section works very well on both channels. The first drive mode gives you a crunchy blues sound, I know you will like. The second one has more gain, a bit warmer and more sustain. Think Gary More...

I have noticed this little combo has a lot of bass responce for a single 12 inch speaker. Cheap humbuckers will sound muddy. It's loud as hell and doesn't get thin sounding on higher volume levels.

Although no tubes, it sounds realy good. I won't be surprised if people think I am playing an all tube amp. Also because it looks beautiful and vintage with the green tolex.

Reliability : 8
I have used it without a backup. No problem. Why would you ever use a back-up amp by the way? Only reason I can think of is bad tubes. I don't use tubes..haha..
I bought this amp second hand in mint condition. So there was no wear and tear and the pots sounded clean, no crackle..I have opened it up and it looks realy well made, good components, good soldering and isolation. I don't think I will ever have any problems with this amp as long as I don't start abusing it by smashing guitars in to it.

Customer Support : 8
I've written a couple of e-mails to trace elliot, asking for some more info. They responded within a day, but could not help me a lot, because this is such a rare model. It's very hard to find anything on this amp on the internet. The model after this is fitted with a tube in the pre- amp and much more popular, but doesn't sound as good. The manual for this amp is easy downloadable from the TE website. I don't think I will be needing TE a lot, because I don't think it will break down.

Overall Rating : 9
I've been playing for 20 years now. I played in a couple of different bands and will be using the supertramp as my main gigging amp. I don't have to much gear, because I just don't use it. I use just a Cry Baby and a Tube Screamer copy. I don't need anything more to get my sound just right.
I would definately buy it again, if I can find one.
I was first looking for a sessionette 75, but then I found this one. I'm glad I did. this one has more options and sounds a bit warmer.

The only thing it lacks is a footswitchable drive switch, but perhaps in the future I will try to change that myself.

Until now I realy like this amp. It gives me all the sounds I need, very responsive. The sound breaks up nicely. I think I have found the amp I will spend the rest of my life with...

This is an 85 watt,1995 model which I have owned since new.No valves, all solid state. It has a clean channel with bass, mid ,treble and level controls. The gain channel has gain 1&2 settings with it's own bass, mid & treble controls. The amp also has a prescence control and reverb and a footswitch that operates either reverb or boost for solo's.The amp has a celestion vintage 30 speaker and is finished in British racing green.

Sound Quality : 9
Firstly let me say that I have bought and sold valve amps while I have owned this amp and have not once considered selling this little baby. The clean channel may not quite have the sparkle of an old Fender but it is better than a marshal's and many other valve models. The personality of the guitar is well preserved and the sound is rounded and full. The gain channels are even better.Gain 1 gives a great set of classic rock tones with great dynamics and with intelligent use of the sensitive mid control you can dial up a fierce sound without it ever being harsh.Gain 2 adds another preamp stage and takes you into more of a gary moore sustain.Compared to ANY valve amp I have put this next to it is VERY quiet.

Reliability : 10
I've owned this amp since 1995 and while I have had problems with valve related amps(transformers, caps.tubes)this amp has been absolutely bulletproof. Not one problem in over 12 years of solid use.

Customer Support : No Opinion
The warranty was 12 months. I've never needed to contact Trace. So I could'nt say.

Overall Rating : 9
I have'nt tried the 2 speaker version of this amp but this is a better sounding amp than the model that followed with the 12ax7 preamp valve. This is a great amp period and far and away the best solid state I've heard.Excellent tones, quiet operating, well built, whats not to like? If you can find one get one.

I think think mine was one of the earlier models with the black knobs. I think early nineties.
2 Ch. 2 gain w/boost & verb. All foot switchable.
I use this amp in an original rock and roll band (indie at times) I plug straight in to the amp after a Peterson tuner, and can get an unlimited amount of sounds with gobs of power in any room or on any stage. I don't really need any other features, but I do use nearly every knob on the thing while playing, and I change the sounds up to four times a song depending on what the song requires.

Sound Quality : 9
This amp can go from the smoothest clean chimey full rythm to the nastiest rageing dirty crunch monster at the drop of a hat. It can do Mark Knofler leads or country twang. The clean channel sounds so lush that you swear it was a tube amp (no tubes in this one though I opened it up)The gain channel is awesome. I can get the thing to sound like a synth with no peddles at all. Both channels could use a little more high end though, I often run it with the highs boosted to three o'clock. I play a 79 gretsch TK-300 (solidbody) a 73 Sekova lawsuit era SG copy, and A 63 Hohnor Prinze w/first issue Joe Bardon "danny Gatton" humbckers straight in to the Amp. The Gretsch can do fuzzy punk rock and clash style chops, also dark jazzy crap or funkey rythm chord work. The SG can just shred the crap out of you or do lussshyy jam band leads. Jerry Garcia to Jack White. The Prinz can do anything it freaking wants to. The pickups are wired to be pole switchable so think of a tone, any tone!

Reliability : 7
Got the thing for $60 because the verb wasn't working (wierd machanical buzz). I had a hunch after listening to it, so I bought it and sure enough when I got it home all I had to do was pop one of the springs in the tank back on to the hook. Presto......$60 amp that has more charm then Santa Clause. I play out every single weekend with no backup, and I smashed the post off the reverb control.*****sadness**** (found the knob thank god) I ordered a replacement solder-in pot from http://www.britishaudioservice.com/ So once that is here it will rock some more shows I'm sure.

I have been playing for 15 years now and currently play lead guitar for The Codes out of philadelphia. If this amp was stolen I would be forced to break some kneecaps. I prefer this amp to my Peavey classic 50 4X10, Ampeg Reverbarocket II, Vox VC60 VST, Peavey Bandit 112 Scorpion, and Univox b13n.
There is one of these in the local guitar shop going for $375 and I almost bought it for no good reason. I went in and was like "that is the best amp you have in this entire place". The dude was like what do you mean and then he played it for real and freaked out at how great it was. They just made sure it worked and set it in the back. Now they have it in the sealed off booth for people checking out guitars!

Features : 10
Features are all pretty basic really, but useful. It has one and a half channels Clean/Gain/Gain Boost all of which are footswicthable through a two button footswitch as well as footswitchable reverb, and volume boost which is useful. This is a working amp it's real simple but it works really well. It has one ecc83 tube in the preamp on the gain channel which gives it a slightly more "natural" tone, hardly fender but beats a marshall valvestate any day. it has an effects loop that I've never used and an external speaker jack. I use it for rehearsals and gigging, I drive it hard but it can keep up just fine, I imagine you'd get more power driving a cabinet but I haven't tried it yet. I give it ten for features because the footswitchable volume and gain boost are so simple but sooo goddam useful... why don't they put these on every amp?

Sound Quality : 7
I use it with an Esp ec-50 and an old japanese Squire affinity strat. I play old school punk mostly (Clash, Ramones, Damned, Stooges) it's mostly powerchords and the odd pentatonic riff. The amp sounds good, damn good for this stuff. you can crank the gain up and get a good classic rock sound and a reasonable metal sound for say Metallica stuff. But it doesn't do the new fangled nu-metal vomit. the clean sound is reasonable but not remarkable, I find it lacks high end. I like to play a bit of rockabilly every now and then, but the lack of twang frustrates me. It does have plenty of headroom though. Overall the amp is extremely versatile, but not highly specialised.

Reliability : 9
The reverb tank had come loose when I got it, so I've had to gaff tape it back in place. If the preamp volume is set to less than five, then it has a tendency to cut out... no idea why. I gig without a backup all the time because I can't afford a backup. It feels solid though. happily throw it around, jump on it, throw my guitar at it, hardly think it'll break. time will tell if the inner workings can hold up.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never dealt with them.

Overall Rating : 10
I've been playing for a couple of years, this is my first real amp. I really like the simplicity and the usefulness of the footswitchable gain/boost, reverb, and volume boost. The sound frustrates me when I want to play rockabilly, and you'd have the same problem with jazz or purist's blues. If it were stolen or lost I'd go straight to the fender tube amps, no questions asked. This amp is a really good workhorse, simple, versatile, compact. I'd reccomend it if you were in a cover band doing classic rock, or garage or punk or what ever. It beats the similarly priced Marshalls and Fenders hands down. This is a GOOD amp for your money.

Made in 1997,this little monster delivers all the sounds I need. Over 25 years of playing, I've used Marshals, Fender,Vox AC30 and other bits and pieces and to my ears this beats them all.
Two channel valve pre-amp (1x12AX7) with a solid state power amp, the tone controls are treble, mid and bass on both channels. There is also a gain AND a gain boost function for channel 2, ideal for switching from rhythm (clean on ch 1, dirty on ch 2) to a screaming super saturated lead sound. Plus swichable reverb plus an effects loop PLUS a seperate boost level so you can have a pre-set volume increase for lead solos, either clean or dirty.

Sound Quality : 10
I use Profile Strats with Seymour Duncan Fat Strats in the bridge position and stock pick-ups in the middle and neck. I've had Fender strats and a '68 Gibson SG for years but brand names do NOT contribute to what your ears hear. The Supertramp gives my guitars a range of sounds from an amazing clean Fender Twin shimmer to an SRV boogie to a Joe Satriani no holds barred lead. At all volumes too, from practising at home to playing out live. The Gain Boost function is a bit noisy but the clean channel is a quiet as a graveyard at all volumes

Reliability : No Opinion
No problems as yet with the amp but I was unable to find a suitable footswitch (the amp was found in a hock shop and didn't have one with it) so I ended up building one. A metal box, $40 worth of switches, LEDs, stero jacks and cable later and I have a 4-button remote on the floor; 1/Clean-Crunch 2/Crunch-Lead 3/Reverb 4/Volume Boost.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I have heard they are now owned by Gibson but there is a Trace Elliot Authorised serviceman here who I deal with.

Overall Rating : 10
If it was nicked or lost, I would DEFINITELY buy another IF I could find one. I was originally looking at a Marhall AVT100 when I spotted this amp. Compared side by side, there is no competition tone-wise (even though the Marshall has the bonus of built in effects).

To be honest I haven't had much experience with guitar equipment (I am only 15) but I have been playing for about 5 years now and from what I can tell this amp doesn't have that any features really... Compared to most modern Marshalls etc it doesnt have all the digital effects etc but to be honest I think thats a good thing. The model SuperTrame that I have (which is now rather old) just has the two channels (Clean and Overdrive) with a boost function for the second overdrive channel. It does have reverb however which gives it a bit of a nicer sound. For the type of music I play (alternative/progressive etc) the clean is perfect while I use a Zoom FX Pedal for overdrive, running for the Tramps effects loops, which sounds excellent to me and perfect for what I want! Overall there are not hundards of features but the ones it has are fantastic!

Sound Quality : 9
I use it with a 2004 Fender USA Strat and together on the clean it sounds amazing, can be both crisp and smooth, the amp on clean can pretty much cover any style you like. The overdrive channel is perfect for Brit Rock but not for anything a bit more metal, like I said I use a Zoom FX pedal to get these tones which sounds great. The clean is still perfect at near full volume, when compared to my mates Marshall 250DFX on clean it destroys it! Overall beautiful clean, for me its own overdrive is a bit limited for the music I play but get a good overdrive/distortion pedal and it sounds amazing!

Reliability : 10
I bought this amp secondhand and the date on the bottom is 1996 meaning that it is nearly 10 years old, in the time i've had it (about 4 years now)I have never had one problem. The overdrive channel did seem to be intermitent but that has seemed to have stopped now (saying that i dont use the second channel that much...) To be honest though this amp seems to be built like a tank and I completely rely on it for gigs, which is more than I can say for my mates marshall which clean channel has stopped working after only 3 years!

Customer Support : No Opinion
I've never had to deal with customer support because its never had a problem.

Overall Rating : 10
It has never broken, it sounds amazing and is just great for the price I bought it! I have heard that the newer ones (mine is a bit old now) arent as good but i'm still sure they are pretty great! Would recomend buying one to any body, its the best solidstate clean sounding amp i've ever played!

ALl the normal stuff. 2 channel switching with boost. Mine has a Celestion Vintage 30. I think some of the newer ones came with cheaper silver series speakers but I am not sure.

Sound Quality : 8
I only use this as a practice amp at my home. All my "higher end" amps are at my rehearsal space. I am not a big fan of solid state amps but this is by far the best I have heard yet. It is very clear and warm. I have tried the Marshall Valvestate and I gotta tell you, that one of the worst sounding amps I have ever heard. This Trace blows it away.

My amp was very lightly used (the speaker was not broken in yet) My Trace Super Tramp is a '96 as far as I know. 80W Butt-kicker with a single 12. Only complaint for features is no "ext speaker" jack. I installed a 1/4" jack in the chassis to add a 4 x 12 when needed and use a short pigtail to connect the 12" in the combo...cost: $4. The Super has no problem pushing a 4 x 12, I can keep up with my bandmates JCM900 pretty well. I give it an 8 for lack of proper ext jack...seriously, who needs 80W to push a single 12?

Sound Quality : 10
I like most blues-metal and hard rock music (think AC/DC, Metallica, Green Day, Offspring, Jet, Puddle of Mudd, Linkin Park). I play an Ibanez SZ with a SD Pearly gates on the bridge and a Jazz in the neck. For drop-tunings, I have a Schecter S-1 with a SD Invader on the bridge and a SD Trembucker on the neck.
First off...the cleans on this thing are freakin' HUGE!!! Especially through a Zinky 4 x 12 w/Medusas and V30's. You get a really sweet "pop" from the pick, then the string takes over and you hear it sing!
Now..for the Distorted channel. I hated it at first, because I never could get the sound I needed. Now it drives 4 12's, and the sound is right there! I needed the cab to really "open it up". Don't forget...it is still a Brit amp, you won't see Pantera or Slipknot thrashing a Trace. The tone is warm with screaming little harmonics and you can still get a convincing "chug" with the mids cut and the master cranked.
It IS a little noisy with the gain past 7, kind of a "your amp is on" reminder...like the older Kustom's had.

Reliability : 10
No tubes = reliability. It only stopped working once, and that was when it melted the solder on the input jack in the cab...no the amp's fault. It's been a tank, but I still brink the Kustom Studio 50W head with me (have yet to need it).

Customer Support : No Opinion
No warranty. I only buy used gear. It's all analog, so if I break it I can open it up and fix it. (try that with 24 bit DFX digital crap)

Overall Rating : 10
I have played off-and-on for 15 years. I also have a Kustom Studio 2 Valve head, a Zinky 4 x 12 Cab, a Behringer 4 x 12 cab, and effects pedals that never get used. If stolen, I would buy two more. The day I bought it, I took MY guitar to the music store and plugged in to every amp they had. I passed up Marshalls, Fenders, Rolands (for sure), even an Orange...to get this little combo.
The funniest thing is carrying it into a club. All the roadie wannabees and armchair rockers look at this little green combo and snicker. I carry in the cab and hook it all up, then do a "sound check" with a couple of power chords and a nasty pentatonic run that carries me from the nut to the 22'nd fret. The look of surprise, followed by "damn, kid, turn that thing down".

This is an update to my previous review. The amp is a '96 not an '86.
I have now had the amp for two years.

Sound Quality : 9
I have switched my set-up somewhat. I use this in combination with a JC-120 and I have switched to the low input setting on the chorus channel for the JC-120. This way I get a better volume balance with the Supertramp. I still run the rack , but the JMP-1 died so it's just a GX700 and an Ibanez UE-405 (stereo out of the 405 into the two amps.
With this setup I can get any combination of sounds I want. The overdrive and boost on the supertramp are excellent. Everything from AC/DC to ZZ Top. It can also copo a pretty good clean setting for ballads or country.

I used to consider the JC 120 as my #1 amp, but now if I only need one amp at a gig, I will use the Supertramp over the JC-120 and still be able to capture 90% of my rigs volume, tone and effects. The amp is amazing, the best little 1/12 combo I have ever heard. It mic's up very well, but most of the time I don't even have to mic it to cover the rooms we're playing in.

Reliability : 8
The reverb went out on it, but I have played over 400 four hour gigs in the last 2 years and it has never let me down. I have reverbs in my rack and the JC-120 to compensate.

Customer Support : No Opinion

Overall Rating : 10
I have been looking for the twin chorus Supertramp to have as a second amp. It's always good to have a backup. It would even be great to have two of this combo to run stereo. I have also been looking at the goldtones (same circuit designer (except tube class a, not solid state) but I really think I would just be spending more money for the same great tone and less reliability. Trace Elliot really knew his stuff an developed some great amp designs before he was bought out.

Bought it new about 4 years ago.

2 channel, solid state 80W amp, single Celestion speaker, channel switch and boost via footswitch (supplied). Spring reverb, overdrive.

Plenty of volume for its size.

Sound Quality : 9
I use a strat and a Yamaha SG with it, mainly for rock.

Clean channel is superb - distortion is also excellent although these days we are spoilt with multi-effects units so its just one of many distorion sounds I use.

Warm, and very valve-like in character, sound compresses nicely when cranked a bit and goes decently loud.

Spring reverb does the job quite well.

Not heaviliy gigged but no problems so far.

'86 original trace elliot supertramp, 112 celestion 30, 80 watts, solid state, 2 channels (od channel with 2 voices and ft switchable boost/channel switching),effects loop. I use this amp as a crossfill and mono/stereo send off of my rack. I have to run the master at 75% to keep up with my Roland JC-120. My rack is a boss gx-700,Ibanez Ue405, Marshall JMP-1, and an old ART SGE Mach II. I run out of the JMP-1 line outs to the input on the JC -120 and the trace.(Double mono) This was the perfect addition to my setup, because it allows me to ftswitch boost into my lead work with out doing a tapdance on my midi controller, and it gives me a controllable boost for every room, rather than having to tweak presets in my rack to compensate for the room or the acoustics on any given night.

Sound Quality : 8
I use strats with emg/s/ceramic pickups. One has an onboard preamp.I play weekends in a classic rock/country cover band. The clean channel is not fender clean but is good. The overdrives are voiced for vintage od and modern(using a mini toggle to perset the type of od)Reverb is great, but I get most of my reverbs from my rack. There is also a presence control, which is helpful if you need just a little more sound to blend with the band. I have also let the other guitarist in the band use the amp and one of my guitars with no rack gear between, so I know what it sounds like "plain". It is a great little combo that can keep up with the entire band. Switching is very good and the boost feature is excellent. I also like that you can set the switch for boost and then activate it by switching channels, when you want to go from clean to od solos. This is not a rectifier type of od (even in the modern voicing), but you can get "early metal""brown sounds"(Poison,VH,a little Metallica on modern) and great classic stones/black crowes type rythm crunch(on vintage). Also great voicing for "blues". I did A-B this in the store with a Boogie Dc-3 and it won that comparison hands down. I also tried a Trace Bonneville (the all tube version of this amp at 3X the price) and all the sounds that it had were in this amp as well. With the emgs, I can get controllable feedback swells and dive bomb techniques. Eq's are passive and you can't run anything all the way up(I don't know who would want to anyway.) There is a manual on -line for the supertramp tube. It is not the same amp but it does have some good settings noted in it to start from.

Reliability : 7
I have only had the amp about 6 weeks. But the amp is already 6 years old and is in very good condition.

Will deal with the music store if I have a problem since they were sold to Gibson.

I have been playing forever and I have owned everything from an Alamo capri, A blackface super reverb, a Marshall Superlead II,to MusicMan to Boogie,to VOX, to Roland. I have played Gibson Gold Tops, Gibson Double necks, Hollow Bodies, and Fender strats and tele's. I have been fortunate to play on good equipment. I have played all styles of music, and still am. I have recorded in Nashville and also with the current digital software. It has taken about 10 years to piece together my current setup. I have been looking for something more compact, but I havn't found any modeling amps that will do what my rig does for me.This latest addition is an excellent piece of gear which does exactly what I felt was lacking from the previous incarnation of my rig.I have designed my rig to cover all the bases, as far as amplifier selection goes. When you play covers, it is much more exciting if you can "nail" the sound, any sound. If it were lost or stolen , I would probably not be able to find another one. Every amp is different, and you have to try them to find the right one. When you do, you will know it. If you don't know it, you just don't have enough experience to recognize it.

80watt solid state with 2 channels, fooswitch, boost, fx loop. It's good feature-wise but I'd have liked foot switchable reverb and seperate reverb on each channel

Sound Quality : 7
I absolutely love the clean tones I get from this amp. Whether I use a Squier Strat, Fender Strat or Les Paul, I always get gorgeous clean sounds. There is a large tonal pallette available from the controls, and as I like use up to 8 different cleans depending on what style of music i'm playing, this amp always comes up trumps on the clean channel. I get glorious, rich, warm clean tones and this amp can sound modern or vintage depending on how I set it up. I'm not in love with the distortion at all, it lacks bass and is a little fizzy for my taste. I bought the amp because it was a very affordable step up from my first amp, and the clean sounds are superb, but I find the drive lacks clarity and punch compared with many other solid state amps. It's a little fizzy and mushy. I wrote to Trace asking for some suggested amp settings (I always think companies should give you a few with the amp)and they were okay but nothing great. I wouldn't say it was a good amp for Hard rock/Metal sounds and for some reason my tone is always compromised greatly when I drive this amp. I tend to use a pedal for my distortion rather than the amp's distortion. Also, the amp's own reverb is very nice, it kicks the butt of every single reverb on my floor multi.

Reliability : 10
This amp has only had one problem - it boomed and echoed when switched off - I fixed that myself. Apart from that I've had it for 6 years and it's been fantastic.

Customer Support : 10
I've never had to use the warranty but I wrote to the company looking for some amp settings and they replied quickly, kindly sending me a booklet with some suggested settings and a bunch of stickers too!

Overall Rating : 9
I've been playing 9 years and I've never owned an amp with such a good clean channel. Like I said, the distortion wasn't much to my liking but maybe some of the oher users could share their secrets of good overdrive with me (!) I have no regrets about buying this amp, I guess I would buy it again because it was a complete bargain. A better drive channel and it would be almost perfect.

I've been playing metal/hard rock gigs for four years and this is the BEST amp for the job yet. The VOLUME BOOST for the solos is a feature i could not do without.

I own 2 Super Tramps. 1 x 100w and quad for the stage and a Super Tramp Twin combo for the jam room.

DAMN NICE AMPS!!!!

2 channel solid state amp (I'm using the super tramp head with 2 trace cabs. Built in reverb, volume boost, and two distortion modes. It's got an effects loop. Separate bass, mid, treble, gain, and volume for each channel. A master volume and presence. Footswitch for either changing channels and turning boost on or off (this footswitch came with my amp) or for just turning the reverb on or off (both footswitches can be plugged in at once to control all these options).

Sound Quality : 10
I'm using a memphis les paul copy with a seymour duncan '59 pickup at the bridge. I run my guitar directly into the amp and use my digitech rp-12 through the effects loop. This amp rocks. I use the rp-12 only because I can't afford to go out and by all these stomp boxes. The distortion on my amp sounded better then my friends brand new $1000 marshall head (run through the same cab). I run this head through two stock trace elliot cabs (celestion speakers of course). The cleans on this amp are really nice and clear and the distortion is VERY smooth.

Reliability : 8
I've owned this amp head for over two years already. It works every time i turn it on. The only problem I've ever had with it was that a transistor in the output circuit blew, no problem though, the amp was fixed and it works great. It's very sturdy too... I'm the most clumsy fool on the face of the earth, and I bang it around everywhere when I'm transporting it (I don't have any case for it) and it still never ceases to amaze me. I gig often with it WITHOUT any backups.

Customer Support : No Opinion
i had an amp tech look at the amp when I broke it, he made note of the name (I think he must of been a fan of the band Super Tramp). I never had to deal with the Trace Elliot customer support staff.

Overall Rating : 10
I've been playing for 6 years. I bought this amp mostly because of the price (I new the price even before I tried it out). If it were stolen, I would buy another one (maybe two). I love this amp. It's outperformed marshalls, fenders, and a whole bunch of other amps. It's an awesome amp. I am completely satisfied with this amp. If I were to buy another amp any time soon, it would be as a backup for this amp (better safe then sorry).

This amp features standard versatility for a small combo. Effects loop, 2-channels (footswitchable) with gain mode and boost switches, and (2) 3-band equalizers (one for each channel). It would be better with a good chorus, and an extra footswitch option for reverb. This amp can be used for almost anything; it sounds great at low volumes, and holds up incredibly well cranked up. It can (and has) hung with much larger combos and even small stacks. Will play louder than any amp its size/power; clean channel breaks up before it should, though. Overall, can do pretty much anything you throw at it.

Sound Quality : 9
Primarily, I use a Fender Lone Star Strat. The Texas Specials on the neck through this amp sound incredible....tone rivals most tube amps. The bridge Seymour Duncan humbucker makes this little amp scream, but it can get a little bright. Gotta keep tabs on the feedback too...this little thing likes to whine. I play blues and rock mostly, but from time to time just about anything. I can, with a little tweaking, almost always get the sound I am looking for. This thing is quiet, like a solid-state amp should be. Basically, if you like fat tone but can't live with the problems of a tube amp, or want an amp that can play blues like SRV or metal like ol' Metallica, this thing will do it all. The distortion is extremely adjustable, from clean to pure fuzz.

Reliability : 5
Well.......I played this thing for about eight months (bought it new). One day I plug in, start playing, and it starts fading in and out. I thought it was a bad cable or something...turns out to be the amp! Trace ain't supposed to break, right? So I take it in. Amp tech looks at it for like three weeks. Supposedly fixes it. Take it home, plug in, fade away, baby. Same problem. Now the electronics are on their way back to Trace for evaluation!!! Meanwhile I am down one amp. But hey...everybody screws up once. If they fix it the first time, I'll happily buy Trace again just based on their reputation.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Seem to be okay...time will tell. I never actually talked to them...my dealer did that for me.

Been playing about four years...smallest amp I have ever owned, but probably one of my favorites. I had a Vintage Club Crate 2x12 before this, and liked that really well. But it was too crankin' big!!

This amp is your basic amp, 2 channels, clean and distorted and it has a boost on the distorted channel. Each channel has It's own eq along with seperate gain and level controls. The master section has of course master level along with reverb and presence controls. The only thing it doesn't have is a headphone jack or an ext speaker jack but no problem, oh yeah it also has an efects send and return.

Sound Quality : 9
Ok here we go, the distortion on this amp is great, I have tried many different amps and let me tell ya this is the best sounding distortion from a solid state I have ever heard. There are 2 modes the 2nd has a little more gain but both are very responsive and have great tube tone for a solid state amp. The clean channel is ok, It's not as sparkly as some fenders I have listened to but you will be suprised by the sounds you can get, I only wish I could have found the twin version but thats ok because this babys got a 12 in. celestion which I think are the best sounding speakers around and thats proberly one reason this amp has so much punch to it. It's not to heavy so you won't have to many problems and believe it or not I kind of like the color of it, it's different.

Reliability : 10
So far no problems.

Overall Rating : 10
I would have to say that for the price it's great. If you are like me I have been playing for about 15 years and wanted something to use when I play out, which is every so often but at the same time could use at home or when I jam with my friends and not have to worry about bringing all kinds of effects and rack stuff with me.I have tried alot of different amps I even have a post for a marshall jcm 600 which also sounded good but had to return twice because of problems and let me tell you I am glad I did because this amps distortion blows it away. The only problem you might have is finding one of these amps, I had to look at alot of different music stores before I found one but I am glad I did, It's small, it's powerful and it even looks great.

The distortion rules on this amp, when i was in the guitar shop it was between this (used) and a marshall (combo also) new, I plugged in the marshall w/ distortion, then this one, it was hands down BETTER, the clean isn't perfect at higher levels, but it gets the job done, it has two channel + a boost, it has an effect loop, not headphone jack, the reverb is good, i wish it had a chorus, but, you get what you pay for, i use all the features, this amp works for jams, gigs, anything, it has 80 watts rms, 110 before it blows, that's plenty, it's a solid state amp! and i couldn't believe it, it has the tube tone.

Sound Quality : 10
i use a epiphone les paul 100 with two hum's, it suits grunge great, it would work on metal and other stuff too. it's never noisy, even with the tv on and stuff, even cranked up it's quiet. I don't need ANY pedals with this thing, it has reverb, excellent dist. plus a vol. boost built in. This distortion is better than a marshall of equal size!!!!!

Reliability : 5
i haven't used it alot yet but it's working great, i would use it w/out a backup

Customer Support : No Opinion
have never dealt with them

i've only played since christmas, i traded in my old peavey rage 158 i used a rocktek dist. with it, man is there a big difference or what !!!!! If you want an amp that has excellent distortion WITHOUT alot of pedals, this is the amp for you. Also (at least mine) is one of the pretttiest amps ive ever seen it's teal green and the speaker cover looks cool too. If it were stolen, i'd probably buy it again. I love the distortion, reverb, boost channel, and the only thing(I have no problem with it)but some people wouldn't like the little distortion in the clean when it's cranked, think of this amp as a marshall with BETTER distortion and PRETTY!!!!!!

2 foot switchable channels, 80 watts RMS solid state, line out/in, 1x12 Celestian Vintage 30 speaker, Both channels have volume, bass, mid, treble, and gain conrols, lead channel also has a boost control which is foot switchable for solos. Master section has volume, reverb, and presence controls. The only negatives about this amp featurewise is that it has no external speaker jack, or headphone jack. Neither of which is an issue for me. I use this amp for peactice and gigging in clubs. It has more than enough power for either. It comes with a footswitch for channel select and boost, but the reverb switch is seperate and not included. Channel one is for clean to mild smooth type distortion. and channel two picks up there and goes over the top. CXhannel two spoers a gain mode switch that increases the gain when engaged.

Sound Quality : 9
I use it primarily with a Strat Plus outfitted with Lindy Fralin Vintage Pickups. I play primarily Classic Rock and R&B and this amp does a great job at both. The distortion is VERY smooth for a solid state amp. It is also surprisingly responsive to guitar volume settings, and pick attack, especially considering that it's a solid state amp. It seems to be very quiet as well. The clean sounds are good, but addmitedly note as chimy and crisp as a good old Fender tube, but still not at all bad. The amp is probably more suited for blues to rock, than for Country. There is MORE than enough gain available for anyone on this amp. I keep the gain mode swith off as this sucker sings without it engaged even with the Single Coils. A real Heavy Metal type player may not like it as well as it's a nice smooth full distortion, as oppsed to a harsh edgy type.

Reliability : 10
Seems to be built very sturdy. Trace uses gold plated contacts throughout. I haven't owned it long so time will tell. Based upon it's appearance, I'll give it the benefit of the doubt.

I've been playing about 20 years. I sold a Fender Performer to help pay for this thing. I tried the following amps before buying: Peavey Ultra 112, Transtube (Several Models), Classics, Crate Blue Voodoos, Marshall Valvestates, Fender Hot Rods, Devilles, and probably a few I forgot to mention. Anyway, this is the one I picked. I would definitely buy it again. There is absolutely nothing that I hate about it. I can't think of anything else in particular that I need in a combo amp. This thing pretty much does it all. If you're shopping for combo amps, don't discount this thing just because there are no tubes. You may be surprised.

This solid state two channel BEAST envies nothing to those old fart tube amps. You can get any sound you want, from jazzie clean to death metal. Reverb is great. I wish it had headphones jack, but then, I use my multi effects by itself. Also external speaker jack would be nice, but not necessary. Effects loop, via line out- amp in. It has Channel 2 boost, so you can solo (then you don't need a vlume pedal). you sum all this up, and you get the greatest amp (just my opinion, ok?)

Sound Quality : 10
No hiss, two-channel distortion (channel 1: clean, channel 2--->2 distortions). Channel's 1 gain distorts if you crank it up, but that's the idea. Great for rehearsals and live playing. I own a Stratocaster, a Gibson SG, and a Fender Jaguar clone: great sounds with single-coils, humbuckers and soapbars p/u.

Reliability : 10
I'v use it on big, I mean BIG gigs, and then I throw it to my truck, drive home, and then play with the band at home...it still kicks ass. Never had broken down....never will

I would definitely buy it again....in fact, I'm saving to buy a second one, not as a backup, because i could swear it'll never break down, but as the pair, for stereo effects. HEY, the best of all, it's green, with vintage green-black speaker grille

This is a very solid 2-channel solid state amp. Much louder than I'd expect, but so is my 80w bass combo. Those Trace guys are just great at building high quality products at low prices. Anyway, enough gushing (ooh I love Trace). The amp's channels are very distinct, yet both have that excellent smooth Trace tone. The distortion channel is surprisingly warm for a solid-state, and it has a switch for two different gain modes (tradtional and high), but I don't use the trad. too much. 3-band eq, footswitchable reverb (f.s. not incl.), presence, master level on each channel as well as for total amp volume (very useful), mono eff. loop, and one input. The only thing I wish it had was a footswitchable bypass for the fx loop. Oh yeah, and it comes w/ a f.s. for channel and boost (channel 2 has an adjustable boost).

Sound Quality : 10
Ooh I love Trace. This is the sweetest, warmest sounding solid-state I've ever tried/heard, although I haven't checked out either the Roland or Peavey tube-em. amps (imho I think this one'd beat them). With the 2 master vol.s, the clean channel is still pristine at full blast. It can go from thin and tight to big and warm on both channels, thanx to the very responsive tone controls. The distortion(s) are...wow! Like I said, I usually only use the heavier setting, but the lighter one is perfect for classic rock. The only problem is its propensity for feedback, but that's probably because of my Hamer's 'bucker. Complaint: the clean channel's a little thin w/ the bridge pickup (H), but it's great w/ the neck (S). I play anything from jazz to Rush, and it works great for all.

Reliability : 10
I've had it since June (6 months), and I haven't had a problem yet, except that they shipped it with the wrong footswitch. Oh yeah, if you don't have the footswitch, channnel 2 w/ boost is always on, but I remedied that while I was waiting for the replacement switch by variably plugging a cable into the back. The f.s. problem was remedied quickly, without charge, as with the problems I had with my bass amp (BLX-80).

Except for the fact that I now know about the S.Tramp Twin & Twin Chorus, I'd definitely buy it again. Great bang for the buck with just a few nit-picky complaints. When I tried it out, I asked the guy at the shop if it was a tube amp. I'm still looking around the back for the tubes, since I'm convinced that they're hiding in there somewhere. An ext. speaker jack would also be nice, but only to get it louder, since it doesn't suffer from the boxiness of most 1x12 combos. Otherwise, it's just great.
