alvarez artist archtop, washburn rr200 and sigma tb1. blues and classic rock!! not noisy at all. crystal clear sound,TAKE THE METAL PLATE OFF OF THE BACK OF THE AMP!!! it will rattle like a bitch if you don't. this amp sounds so much better without it.the reverb really opens up.the sound fills the entire room.trust me on this..

1997 TA30R This amp has: 30watt-S.S., 1X8" and piezo horn, 1channel, spring reverb, two band EQ plus a switchable on/off notch filter. shape switch, line out. But best of all it is little, small, tiny and only weighs...well, not very much! For the price and size/weight it has been great. I hate carrying equipment around! I once emailed Trace Elliot to ask about adding an external speaker jack so I could get wider dispersion but they said "not a good idea". Since then I bought another one (TA30R) and use them with the line out and have also used them with my small Peavey Pa (MP4) for larger places. If you need more volume and not just great clarity get a bigger amp.

I mainly use this amp with classical guitar (Yairi-1979 C115Ltd. Ed and Yairi-1996 C127CE) I have also used it for amplifying flute and again it gets a very accurate sound but without a lot of volume. One thing I really like is the QUIET operation, especially without the reverb. I mean DEAD quiet! That feature is great for classical music because of the wide dynamic range. One of my guitars has a saddle pickup which sounds best at 1/2 volume and needs bass boost. I prefer the sound using a shure PE588 (basic, dynamic mic) aimed below the bridge (treble side) and no pick-up. If you want transparent amplification, try this little critter.

I have never dropped it-but it has given me no problems in 3 years and lots of use. I'll bet if it did drop it would probably break pretty well though. The power cable detaches and can be replaced by any standard computer type power cable-handy for packing.

I contacted Trace through their web-site and they responded fairly quickly and thouroughly. I forget how long the warranty is.

When I bought the TA30 I compared it to the larger Trace acoustic amps and several other brands. The price-per-size-per-sound quality sold me. Even two of them will fit into a pullman suitcase with mic, cables and music. Before I got these TA30s I used a peavey KB60 keyboard amp and occasionally an electric guitar amp (fender blues deluxe) both were too bulky, heavy and were tough to EQ for classical guitar.

1997 30 Watt single channel acoustic amp. Features Gain, Bass, Middle, Treble, Master, Notch filter, Shape, Reverb, Input, Line Out, Headphone. As a guitarist who uses an acoustic guitar mainly for practice and as a change from playing a Strat, the TA30R is a good option since it is in the lower price range as Trace Elliots go but provides the necessary power for my needs. As power goes it could definitely be used at a small venue when gigging. I don't tend to alter the notch filter or the gain much since once it is set up well for a particular instrument you can forget about it, but the other functions can affect the sound considerably. For the styles of music I play, namely jazz, blues and a bit of classical, the TA30R seems versatile enough.

I mainly use my amp with a Hohner electro-acoustic guitar, which on its own is quite a crisp instrument. I've even used the amp with a Fender Strat and Tele. Whatever I've used with it, the Trace provides an exceptionally crisp sound with no hum but a bit of wheeze when there is a lot of reverb. I would categorise the sound as more "Fender-like" rather than "Marshall-like" because it maybe lacks some of the mellow tones that would compliment a solid-top acoustic."Notch" can control this a bit. The "shape" function ony accentuates the crispness. The reverb is also very clean. The amp has a wide range of bass/mid/treble ranges and at full volume can sound more like a 40 Watt.

No problems as yet but I've only had it a year and a half. The amp looks a sturdy enough construction.

I've been playing seriously about three years. I own a Mexican Fender Strat with a Marshall VS30R, an Encore Strat copy(my first guitar) and a Hohner electro-acoustic guitar. If someone nicked my Trace Elliot, I'd get another the same since the make has a good reputation and there are plenty of features for the price. My only complaint is that the amp could have some more mellow tones. I don't know how other acoustic amps fair because the Trace was the only one in the shop, but acoustic practice amps are fairly hard to come by compared to normal amps.

I am using a 1951 Epiphone Zepher Deluxe Regent in original configuation and also an Aria model 1242 (335 copy). I can get the sounds I want but the amp has a lot of hum, even when nothing is plugged in.

I took it to the local dealer to see about the hum. He had a brand new one on the shelf. It hummed more. I haven't been able to find a US phone, Fax or Email number for Trace.

I like the amp but not the hum. If I had it to do over I might try some of Trace's other products. I live in a very small town so there is not too much selection.
