Built 1970-1971 Toronto Canada
Great for classic rock, blues and just about everything else you'd like to play.
2 channels based on input, non switchable, can really jump using both channels with an AB/Y box. Comes with reverb and tremolo, reverb is ok, tremolo is very deep and rich great when playing rhythm and doing ambiance in the background.
Nice if it had a master volume but otherwise a straight ahead plexi style amp for a fraction of the price of the "boutique amps" out there today
Lots of power for gigs, too much at times in fact. My band likes to mic everything and keep the stage quiet, have had "artistic differences" about this on occasion. Gigs fine, no problems keeping up with a double kick and a full horn section.

I use a whack of guitars a 1980 Ibanez semi-acoustic Artist with floating trem, Ibanez Destroyer, an American Strat with custom solid mahogany body, a Mexi Strat modded to hot rod, a very weird ES335 shaped dobro by some offshore company called Galveston, an Epiphone SG and a Standard LP. A 12 string active and a 6 string passive. As the "other guitar" in my band one has to be versetile. I've even put a mandolin and harmonica through this baby from time to time.
This amp is dead quiet, I've had my amp tech who also owns a recording studio offer my big money as it is recording quality quiet.
Variety is completely in your hands and your guitar. It reproduces what you play and that is all. Works well with a bit of Boss Overdrive and a Boss Blues Driver. I've gone through all the different iterations of pedals, delay, flange, All the Ibanez tube screamer series and truthfully the two boss pedals and a few guitars and a modicum of talent bring out the best in this amp.
Being a fully tubed amp it gets some nice warm breakup on channel one. Not huge fuzz but warm distortion when you push it a bit. You have to be prepared to use this amp as it was built, pre-100% PA direct in crap. This amp was built to be pushed.

Built to endure a nuclear explosion. It's never a good idea to gig without a backup but I've gotten sick of toting around the backup that I never use. However if people are paying to hear, you gotta have sounds and this is a tube amp. Someday in the distant future one or another of the tubes is bound to go.
One word of caution this thing weighs a ton.

Actually have called Yorkville in Toronto and gotten really good advice from them.
I am blessed by having Lindsey at Edmonton AudioWorks work on my amps and he is a wizard. We have worked hard at and spent some cash on keeping this amp stock. Sometimes that isn't cheap but for a 35 year old amp that sounds as good as it gets it is worth it.

I've been playing for 20 years. I also have a serious collection of Traynor cabs, a Traynor Bass Master head, a Fender Bassman 4-10, a Marshall 80-80, a Peavey 120 Century Series that I play through a Traynor 2-12 cab for serious bottom end rhythm guitar,a Peavey Bandit, a Fender Princeton 65.
If it were stolen I'd look for the guy in the pawn shop with the bad back 'cause to run away with an amp this heavy would seriously injure him.
Don't know if it would be possible to replace this amp but I'd try.

2 channels,2 inputs each, bass,treble,reverb,speed,intensity.
2 EL34,6 12ax7a ,looks like a 50watt set-up.This amps' 2nd channel was modified in pre-amp stages, for hi gain purposes. In order to achieve this the amps reverb and tremolo have been bypassed.the tremolo pot was turned into a presence/mid dial. The amp has lost it's ability to be truly vintage in this regard.

The fact that this amp is modified makes up for lost of reverb and tremolo. It's the poormans vintage Marshall.Apparently the owner of Traynor(Canadian company) dropped the amps out of windows to see if they passed the "tough test" If they worked when plugged in,they passed the test. How's that for quality control!!.From whatI can understand these amps were designed Marshall amp principles. The amps Chan 1 has a warm sound and breaks up so nice,it's gradual and you can dial the amount you need. The Chan II is the monster with no remorse it punches and growls like an old brit bastard. The guitar you use will give you obviously different tones. The Les Paul or Strat will produce their respectable tones faithfully. For effects I use a BOSS ME-5 multi-effect pedal(analog, little tank, check the reviews!).What can I say we're dealing with tubes and those who know; theres nothing else that can replace that vintage sound of a tube if that's what you're after.

Tubes amps need to be serviced at least once a year, more so if you're putting the miles on them! Speaker selection(impedence)will also play a role in the amps workout of pushing the load. They're as reliable as the components, filter caps dry up,transformers get weak and tubes die. There's a price to pay for this type of tone:always carry backup if your lively hood depends on making music.

Traynor has resurfaced again with new combo tube amps. Under Yorkville Sound (company)I'm sure you could get assistance.
Not every town has a tube guru, but if you can find em'you're blessed!
Treat them right!

For those who don't like dialing in a bunch of sampled(simulated) sounds on some new amps,Tired of tweaking for hours to get an amp to sound like a guitar is plugged into it? Go for tube amps; the burden of servicing and uncertainty that tubes can bring to a live situation far outweights sounding like playing through a strachy radio on steroids(solid state amps).Be careful, tube amps bring out what and how we play no hiding behind techo crap. Bottom line, this means we have to keep praticing guitar.
