Solid-state 2X12" 100W combo, of early 80's manufature. Two channel design; one "buddy" channel (2-band EQ with gain pot), one main channel with separate "normal" and "low" inputs. Main channel has a boost switch that can be operated from the front panel, or a footswitch. Main EQ is 3-band with gain and reverb controls. Overall there is a "bright" filter switch and a master volume. Includes a line out phone jack, but no headphone jack.

This is your basic solid state combo meant to perform backline duties in a performance venue. Not a practice amp. Enough power to compete with an unamplified drumkit, or level the average suburban house. NOT a practice amp.

Rather transparent sound, with a pleasing reverb effect, if used in moderation. Overdriven sound is solid-state simple, and inoffensive. Outboard effects come through nicely, could be used to amplify anything, (keys, guitar, sax, hamonica, mic, etc.). I get the impression this was meant to be a basic powerful all-rounder.

I've played various single coil and humbucker equipped guitars through it, and have had satisfying results. N.B. if your guitar is a lump of poo, this amp will not be able to polish it. That's not its job.

Reliability : 10
Nuke-proof. Archeologists will dig up this amplifier and marvel at our magnificent, yet doomed civilization. I bought it in '94, and it was already at least a dozen years old. I haven't figured out how to damage it. I'll try fire next.

Huh?

Driver magnets of a size I've never seen elsewhere, (I mean BIG). Speakers can unplug via phone jack, and line out fed out to a preamp for neighourly use.

i use a Yamaha sa-800 similar to a es335..
i like to play jazz (i try) , classic rock.. this amp shines with it's very beautiful clean sound.. it's mellower that of a Fender twin, which is a surprise because it's a transistor amp..but Traynor always made good products and this one is no exception.
the overdrive sound is actuallypretty good.. it's not like a tube amp but it's very useful as it doesn't soound bad..

please nOte that the Reverb is an accutronix and in this amp, it's absolutely wonderful...if the Mesaboogie rectoverb had a reverb like this one, you could justify the Hefty price difference for a Mesa..

Reliability : 8
although i had to do some surgery on one of the speakers..(the magnet had moved pinning the voice coil preventing it to move), this thing is built like a tank.. you'd really have to shove it down a 3 story house to break the cabinet and it's pretty hefty .. the only gripe i have is that it was probably in a damp environment for a long time and the control panel silkscreening can be erased by scratching it with your fingernail easily

Customer Support : No Opinion
it's over 20 years old.. fuggetboutit..!!

Overall Rating : 8
it's not like my Marshall JMP 1977 at all, i use it for the other range of playing which is for it's clean sound and the Lucious Reverb..
Strats play great also in this amp..
Its built solidly and i had originally bought it to make some cash re-selling it after cleaning/fixing it but i think i'll keep it instead..

since i paid a great price for it's a steal!!
