YCV15BLUE Brand new full featured 15 watt pure Class "A" foot-switchable 2-channel Traynor tone monster - all tube 3-12AX7 + 2-EL-84 and long spring accutronics reverb. Discontinued model. I play classic rock of all kinds and Blues a la Johnny Winter. Effects loop, headphone jack, D.I. line output to the board, Eminence Governor speaker, speaker defeat button and external speaker jack. I use this amp at home in the studio and at small to medium gigs.

Sound Quality : 10
Oh my God...is this thing for real? If you have never auditioned a Class "A" amp, please do so now. This amp has a totally cool vibe. Only 15 watts and loud as hell! Maybe it's the Eminence Governor speaker? I play Reverend humbucker and P-90 chambered, solid and hollow body guitars through this amp and they just sing through it. The clean channel stays clean up to around 2:00 and then just starts to sweetly break-up with every inching up on the controls. It is not a raging overdiven sound either at loud volumes - it stays pretty clean on the clean channel-lots of headroom. The over drive channel has got enough distortion to satisfy most cravings and the boost takes you right over the top with distortion. The accutronics reverb is very cool too - don't understand what the other posts said...mine stays in control even dimed. The amp is dead quiet too and dimed it only makes a slight hiss to let you know that it is on. I also purchased a 1x12 Traynor matching extension cab fitted with a Vintage 30 - when hooked up it brings out the monster within! Without the cab, this is a sweet small to medium gig and practice or studio amp - it will distort and overdrive with gain dimed and volume at 2 or 3. I can't say enough about this amp! I do not have a clue why they discontinued it.

Reliability : No Opinion
Haven't had it very long, but its built like a tank.

Customer Support : 9
I called Traynor a couple times - their customer support via the web-site sucked but they were helpful on the phone. I called about adding a cab - their answer was that it might lessen the output or volume of the amp - WRONG! PS I read this in another post too. Maybe the guy had bad wire? And as for the Traynor rep?

Overall Rating : 10
I'm giving it a 9.5 because Traynor needs to work on their web-site and customer service - the guy I talked to was not real knowledgeable and gave me a bum steer on the extension cab. The amp however is an 11! I pray it never gets stolen or breaks down. I have been playing rock since 1966 and have had my share of "ok" amps over the years. Recently I purchased a HRDX, which I sold after 3 months because it was hard to control and I'm pissed it was made in Mexico - Fender is going downhill fast! This Traynor amp is pure North American / Canadian genius at work! I demo'd the Crate V16, Blues Jr. both 15 watters and it blows these right away. I also demo'd the Lonestar Special and the Dr. Z and this amp rates right up there with these two at over half the price. Coupled with the matching 1x12 extension cab, this amp will do any gig outside of an arena or super large venue.

2006 amp. Most has already been stated, for my basic needs and expectations this amp has it covered. The only thing would be seperate EQ for each channel but not a big deal. I love how the foot pedal has 1 switch from Gain to Clean, and the other for Boost, great feature! Has 1 75 watt, 12" Eminence Governor, Red Coat speaker. It's in the "british voicing" range of Eminence speakers.

Sound Quality : 10
I use a Gibson SG special faded with my amp and I just LOVED the sound when I tried it out. It has 490's in it, with Ernie Ball 10's for strings. I play/ try to play Brit Blues Rock like Zep, Beck, Clapton (Bluesbreakers.) Also Pearl Jam, Tragically Hip, AC/DC, any type of Hard Rock really.

I had previously used a Marshall AVT50H through a 2x12 cab, great sound but a bit loud for home use and a bitch to carry around! Then went to a Line 6 Flextone 3, got tired of the modeling thing really quick and it just sounded lifeless. So I decided it was time for a tube amp and found a Fender Blues Deluxe for a good price but the damn thing was just way too ear piercing and didn't have the kind of bite I wanted. I then came to the conclusion I needed and amp with either EL 34's or EL 84's. I tried out about a half dozen amps, from a Crate V15 to an Orange Rocker 30 and I had to have this one. For what my needs were (playing at home, and occasionally with drums,) this was perfect. The Orange was kick ass but a bit pricey for me! I actually preferred this amp to the Marshall DSL 401.

It gives me that great Gibson/ Marshall kind of bite, (not quite a Marshall but close,) and when the gain is about 6 and the volume at 5 it really cooks! I'm able to really push the tubes to get a great tone without blowing the walls down or blowing my ear drums. It obviously has a slight boxy sound compared to a 2x12 combo or a half stack, BUT it does have a BIG sound for a single speaker. Every other amp I've owned I get bored with after a few months, but the tone from this baby always suprises me.

More than any other amp I've played, the EQ's really change the sound with every slight turn of the dial. The same goes for the tone knobs on my SG.

I don't play through the clean channel a whole lot but it has a nice sound, not a Fender clean, but I hate THAT sound anyways!

The simple fact that every time I use this amp I'm happy with what I hear, makes is a 10 in my books

Reliability : 10
I've been playing the amp for about 3 months and haven't had a problem.

I've been playing for 5 years, this is my 4th amp and I have FINALLY found the sound I've been searching for. I play an SG special straight into it. Occasionally have a Cry Baby wah hooked up. If it were lost or stolen I would get another one definetly. The only thing I would change is maybe adding an extension cabinet to it. I played it through an Orange 4x12 with Greenbacks and it was just incredible sounding! Might not need a 4x12 but maybe a 2x12. I chose this amp because it was perfect for great tone, right amount of wattage, ease of carrying, sounded great for at home levels, great bang for the buck!

15 watt, el84 class A, two channels, both with gain and volume, shared 3 band eq, bright switch for the clean channel, boost for the gain side, auto-bias, footswitch with boost. All in all, a very complete list of features. I use this amp for club gigs and rehearsals in a Jazz/fusion project, and for practice at home.

Sound Quality : 9
This amp is one of the best sounding amps I've ever heard in any price range! I have been attending the NAMM show in Anahiem for the past 12 years and have litterally played through every amplifier made. I would put this amp right with the best of the best. The best thing about the gain channel is that it is unique. It's not trying to copy a Marshall or Boogie. I use it mostly with the gain at about 6 to 7 range and volume from 4 to 7 and it is brilliant! It sings with lots of sustain and complexity. The clean is also very good, although it does not stay clean very long. For gigging volumes with no P.A., you can't expect a 15 watt amp to not break up, but it still sounds great. This amp can cover a wide range of musical styles from jazz, fusion, or country to metal with the boost on. One more thing I'd like to add, it seems many people agree that swapping the tubes for JJs is essential, but I strongly dissagree. It did give the clean channel a bit more clean headroom, but it completely sucked the life out of the gain channel. It lost its unique characteristics, and made it sound more like a Fender, which is why I think people like it but I can't stand Fender amps! Anyone interested in a brand new set of JJ tubes?

Reliability : 10
So far so good. I've had countless rehearsals and about 40 gigs with this amp and it's been perfect.

I'm a professional musician and guitar teacher with 25 years of experience. I also have a 1968 Traynor YBA-1, and a '72 YBA-1a, both modified, both INCREDIBLE! I use two custom guitars built by a luthier friend of mine with custom, handwound pickups. The combination of them with the 15 Blue is fantastic. I tried many other amps in my search for a small combo and had narrowed it down to a Budda Superdrive 18, a Diezel Einstein, or an Egnater combo. All of which are superb amps, but when I tried the Traynor, there was no way I could justify paying three or four times as much for one of those when I got the exact sound I was looking for in this baby!

2006 two channels, boost and bright switch, 15 watts, made in united states, the governor speak by eminence, two el-34's and 3 12ax7's and a DI out line out effects send footswitch ext speaker speaker defeat. it has everything for studio use and then some

Sound Quality : 9
the clean channel has a vox sound to it and changes more towards a fender sound with the bright switch on, the clean gets distorted around 6 on the gain but if you keep the gain down and volume up you can get alot of headroom, the distortion is classic marshall distortion, you need to break the speaker in though becasue its really harsh when you first get the amp. it suits me well you can get a nice crunch on the clean channel with the gain on 8 or 9 and the lead channel is excellent and gives you a bit more overdrive when hit the boost .. which is good for soloing or more heavy stuff, i play mostly rock/funk and some metal .. although you really need a distortion pedal for the more heavy metal music.

Reliability : 10
its a traynor 2 year even if you break it warranty not that it ever will manufactuered in the USA and Canada and the speaker is eminence (made in the USA) not a crappy chinese celestion .. so in my opinon its one of the best amps out there

never dealt with them.

i also have a cube 60 (kinda disapointing) id buy this amp again once i got enough money its actually a excellent price for what you get though..i did a lot of looking around and for a class a amp with alot of features this is great... and i forgot to mention 15 watts doesent seem like alot but this this is loud ! .. its loud then the cube if that says anything, and dont ask me how. the only thing i wish it had was the extention cabinet for free with it. also too bad they only made a few, i dont think they have anymore.

As stated in the previous review it is a very solid 15 watt tube amp no gimmicks or crumy dsp.Great reverb. The only negitive thing I can say is I wish it had seperate eq for each channel because of this I give this product a 9 other than this it has every feature you could want

Sound Quality : 10
This amp can go from Chet Atkins to Angus Young.the clean can get distorted at high volumes but is'nt that what tube tone is all about good warm crunch. The distortion is not metal but a good peda will fix that. I play a ibanez, fender, dean, ovation all sound different but good on this amp Buddy guy on the strat ,ac/dc on the dean, korn on the ibanez (with pedal)

This amp is to the YCV20 as the 50 Blue is to the YCV40. This amp has 2 channels, both having Gain and Volume knobs, the clean channel has a Bright switch, the lead channel having a Boost switch. There is a shared EQ, Reverb (not footswitchable), series FX loop, XLR DI out, Ext. Speaker out, and standby switch. The 15 has a pair of cathode-biased EL-84's (Think VOX) and 3 12AX7's in the preamp. The speaker is a 12" Eminence Red Coat Governor, in the open back birch ply cab. The reverb is a genuine spring unit made by Accutronics. The reverb tank is HUGE!!! The amp includes a footswitch for controlling channels and channel 2 boost. This amp has, IMHO, everything you need, nothing you don't for playing everything from jazz to hard rock, and maybe metal with a proper distortion pedal, and closed back EXT. cab.

Sound Quality : 9
This amp sounds its best at 4+ on the volume. Below that, the clean sound has a harsh distortion and sounds sterile, and the gain sounds rizzy. But I'm not criticizing, because this amp wasn't made for bedroom practice. The cleans are shimmering, with a glazing of harmonic distortion when the gain surpasses 3.5. Excellent for just about any musical style. The gain channel is flat out amazing for classic rock and hard rock. The gain suits humbuckers like the 490's in my SG, because single coils have a tendency to sound rizzy unless the amp is really tweaked carefully. The amp's character seems to change when the volume passes 4, taking on a better bass response and darker tone. There is very little noise on this amp, no tube rattle either. This amp is surprisingly loud, and the DI out makes it suitable for any size gig, so long as you have access to a P.A.

Reliability : No Opinion
Haven't had it long enough to tell, but seems solid.

Never dealt with Yorkville (Traynor's parent company), but service centers are everywhere. The warranty is a 2&10 year limited warranty.

Other than this amp I own a Roland CUBE-30, and for equipment I own a Gibson SG Special, an MIM Strat, and a BC Rich NJ Series Mockingbird. My pedal board is sparse, I have a Snarling Dogs wah, Marshall Guv'nor OD (AMAZING PEDAL!!!) and a Danelectro Octave. If this amp were punked, I'd buy a new one, certainly. This amp kicks the 50 watt in my opinion. I'm definitely buying the Ext. cab (YCX112Blue) because I wish it had 2 speakers and a 3/4 back as factory. That would make this amp a perfect 10.
