I purchased a brand new Traynor YCV40

Sound Quality : 10
Very clean tones with late breakup due to the Celestion Seventy 80
12" speaker. The gain control can advance this distortion to the point
of boiling punk grunge that is awesome. But in the middle, it will challenge any tube amp out there. String attack is very responsive, and the bass excursion and boom is unmatched by the partial open back.

Reliability : 10
Very rugged contruction. Of course, I will never take this unit out
of my studio!

Customer Support : 8
No contact, but I understand the support is available and responsive.

Overall Rating : 10
Out performs the Fender Hot Rod Deluxe, and the Peavey Classic 30
with no parallel to the responsiveness and spectrum of tonal presentation and volume. For the money, this is where I go. It has
classic appearance, vintage and modern tone, and very concise and
accurate knob control.

2004 traynor 40 watt amp. Tons of features, the best is the tube sound. I love the channel switching, no need for o/d pedals.

Sound Quality : 10
It can make a myriad of sounds. Sparkle to spank to some pretty extreme ( for me that is ) overdrive. Best to play it on the clean channel around 5 and use pick attack for break up.
A lot of reviews don't mention the line out. This feature allows you to use it direct into a PA board for more volume, or better dispersal, balanced sound on stage. If you want to have some fun though, use it to input into a smaller tube amp, ( I use a fender blues junior). The blues junior breaks up sooner and the line in adds the traynor reverb. The result is one great fat sound.

Reliability : 9
Traynor? Built like a tank. Has worked flawlessly since new and has been bumped around quite a bit.

Customer Support : 9
They answer emails within hours. 2 year even if you're really dumb warranty. I haven't seen a better warranty.

Overall Rating : 10
I use a tele, and a strat. For added fun and quicker break up, try el84 yellow jackets. Gets a kinda voxy sound. It is fun to play and tinker with the features. It is no blackface fender, but then again it is one quarter of the cost and comes close enough live that no one is gonna notice.

Incredibly versatile all valve, 40 watt YCV40. I also own a a Fender Blues Jr. and its much more versatile than that. I play a lot of hardcore, classic rock, indie and a bit of emo and new school punk. I also dabble in jazz, psychedelia, '77 punk and various varieties of metal. This amp covers them all very well. HOWEVER, I run alot of stomboxes and effects. The amp its self couldn't cover some things by itself but that'll come later.

It has two channels and a boost setting in the drive channel, all of which are footswitchable. The bright switch is absolutely phenominal and a must on clean (for me at least). I do wish the bright switch was footswitchable though. I usually leave the amp on clean and use stompboxes for distortion/clean switching. Problem is that playing clean you want the bright switch on however, if you stomp your DS-1 or Tube screamer you most certainly do not want the bright switch on as it sounds way to trebely. This isnt a big deal though as the distortion channel is quite versatile so I'll just use that if i ever need to go between bright clean and fat distortion.

Presence knob doesnt seem to do much but the sound is bright enough anyway. Reverb is good but its no fender twin.

Two speaker outs. I use a 1x12 extension cab made for the amp and the thing screams. Plenty of power for anything. Too much for my room really. In concert with my Akai G-Drive this amp roars. It really gets that sound i want for hardcore. Think Refused-Songs to fan the flames of discontent. All punch and no fuzz. I thought i'd need Dual Rectofier stack to get it but this amp has it down.

It absolutely purs when pushed to a sweet blues breakup.

I have experience with the Fender Blues Jr., Fender Hotrod deville 410 and the Marshall TSL 60 2x12 combo. I would prefer the yorkville for tonal quality and versatility.

There is what I could best describe as a buzzy rattle that comes from the grill when certain notes play. It is an isolated problem (I've played another Traynor of the same type), and its one that could easily be fixed by securing the meshy speaker covering to the cabinet a little more if i could just be bothered.

My setup is: Epiphone Les Paul Standard > Akai G-Drive distortion > BOSS ME-50 multi fx > Behringer Ultra Tremelo > BOSS RC-20XL loop station > Behringer A/B > (A) Traynor (B) Fender Blues Jr. With this i can get any sound for any type of music. There really is not limit to the range and authenticity of tone. The amp by itself is fine for blues, rock, punk, jazz. Basically anything except most genres of metal.

Less noisy than my fender but other than that i dont really have anything to compare it to. It certainly doesnt produce anything worth worrying about though.

On the clean channel, with the bright switch on, the sound is amazing. Shimmering and rich. Its better than any fender clean tone ive ever heard. Live or recorded. I can only imagine how good it would be with a Fender Telecaster running through it.

The reason it looses a point is for the rattle and the lack of gain on the drive channel. Still its not meant to be a dual rectifier. The boost setting is a tad fuzzy for my liking, good for those soaring hendrix solos but not quite to my liking.

Reliability : No Opinion
I haven't gigged with it. Previous owner did, and it never let him down. Its only about a year and a half old though so thats to be expected. The things built like a brick s**t house. I would gig without a backup.

I read on the website that they used to test the amps by dropping them off the factory roof and if they still worked they were up to scratch. I dont know how true that is but its certainly a well built amp.

Never dealt with them.

Overall Rating : 9
If i lost it or it got stolen i would most probably buy another, however, they're not that easy to get cheap in melbourne so i might end buying something else cheaper.

This is a fine amp and an absolute joy to play through. From what i've read and heard its better than its equivalent models of other brands. I highly recomend it for just about anyone.

This amp is great, very versatile. Mine is a fairly new model, 40 watts all tube power, 2 channels, with a boost on the overdrive. I play rock and blues, and it works great for both. The clean channel also has a brightness switch, which is pretty useful. The effects loop is great. This amp has 4 Sovtek 12AX7's and 2 EL84's I believe, which are self-biasing. Both channels are great. Each channel has its own 3 band EQ, and there are separate reverb and presence controls. No effects, but those are all pretty trashy anyway.

Sound Quality : 10
I play this amp with a '61 Gibson SG. I also plug my acoustic in through the effects loop, as the preamp is bypassed and the tonal quality retained. The amp can be noisy on overdrive, but mostly when you're not playing. It's pretty versatile, with a great EQ range. It's also much better than amps in the same price range. The clean channel does not distort, and the distortion is great. Just enough for rock and then some.

Reliability : 9
I would say this amp is highly reliable. The tubes are self-biasing. Mine has never broken down, and it seems very well built. I would definitely feel comfortable playing with it at a gig without a backup.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I've never contacted them, but I've heard good things. My amp is under warranty for 13 months. It seems like there are a limited number of service centers around, however.

Overall Rating : 10
I got this amp for a mere $400, best deal ever. I would get another one in a second if it were stolen or lost. This is much better than its rival, the Fender Hot Rod Deluxe. This is my second amp, my first all tube (but I'v played quite a few). I would definitely reccomend this amp.
