This amp was purchased in July of 2008. After much research on amps that would be suitable for my style of playing, and my playing interests, primarily blues and R&B with minimal/no effects, I decided that I wanted a 5E3 circuit amp. Although
(and true to the Fender original) it has 2 channels, 2 inputs each, each with a vol control, and a shared tone control, the interaction between the controls makes it much more sophisticated than one would think. I have spent hrs playing with the adjustments. No effects loop, headphone jack etc. Doesn't need it. I use this amp at home mostly but it could easily be used for small gigs or mic'ed for larger ones. Amp has approx. 15 loud watts. Tubes JJ 6V6, 12ax7, EH 12ay7, Sovtek 5Y3 rectifier. Cathode bias o/p with no neg feedback.

Sound Quality : 10
I primarily use a '52 re-issue Tele with Bill Lawrence Tele replacement p/u's with this amp. Like I said I prefer older blues and R&B music. I can get delicious grind with this simple setup simply by controlling the overdrive with the guitar vol knob. My 'std' setup is as follows: no effects, plug into ch 2, ch1 vol at 6, ch2 vol 3, tone 11ish, guitar tone about 3/4...then vary the guitar vol 1/2 for clean, 3/4 for a bit of edge, full for wonderful overdrive. You would not know this amp doesn't have reverb even at lower vol's. I have always felt that overdrive pedals didn't quite get me where I wanted. Now I realize the key to great distortion is to get the tubes to do it for you. For all the years i have played, since about 1970, I didn't quite get this . Now I do. Don't get me wrong, this will not give you the wall of sound like some heavy metal or thrash band but it will get enough that you will not feel a great need for dist pedals. I have not used one in a yr. This is not a Marshall Les Paul EL84 sound either, but it is familiar if you've heard anything recorded in the 60's or 70's. Incredibly responsive to pick attack, fingers, and position above the pickups.

Amp is built like a tank. In fact if you have ever seen inside a 'real' 50's Fender amp it is much more solidly built. Better box, 1/8" eyelet brd material mounted properly, improved layout, grounding, top quality parts. 12" Tone Tubby speaker. Stephen builds these one or 2 at a time and is painstaking in his detail. He has taken an original fine design and incorporated modern improved concepts to give a quieter more reliable product that is still true to the original concept. If gigging i would take only extra tubes in case something got broken in transportation.

Stephen Cohrs is only an email away, and is very prompt when contacted. As he lives about 50 miles from me I could easily get repairs done if required. His wife entertained my twins while I gave the new amp a go - what else could I ask for?

I've been playing since about 1970 and had several large wattage amps - Hiwatt Custom 100, Traynor YBA-3, Sunn, homemade, Fender Vibrolux etc.. If lost or stolen I would immediately reorder a replacement from Trinity. Every time I turn it on I am amazed by the tone that comes out of it. I do believe that it is an amp for someone who has owned other amps first -just to fully appreciate the sound.

This amp was made to order for me in 2008. I is an update on the 5e3. Even though the features on this amp are limited, it is one of the most versatile amps ever. Jazz, blues, rock, country, it's all in there. The amp has 2 channels, no channel switching unless you use an ABY. No Bells and whistles on this amp. It seems to have enough power for most jams and small gigs. I got this amp with a Tone Tubby Alnico in it and it is louder than I thought it was going to be. Great tone too. But because it is a 2 channel amp with 3 knobs, it gets a 5 on features.

Sound Quality : 10
I use this amp with almost every style of pickup/guitar. This includes strat's, tele's les paul, sg, Esprit, 339, p90 les paul Dc and Gretsch. It is very difficult to get a bad sound out of this amp. I went with the stock amp and speaker (recommended by trinity) which is a Tone tubby alnico. I also upgraded with a nice hardwood combo cab.

The amp can get tones ranging from the best fender clean tone you've ever heard, to that cool jazz and blues midrange focussed tone, all the way to some very very meaty rock distortion (picture Black Crowes). For an amp with these limited controls it sure can get a LOT of different tones. The with the Trinity grounding scheme and custom transformers this amp is very very quiet....studio quiet.

The distortion in this amp comes on fairly quickly but it is warm and subtle and not grainy. I find this tone perfect for jazz soloing. When the bridge pickup is used there is this lovely grind that is smooth but with bite. Keep in mind this is with a tone tubby which is perfect for me. But I have used the amp with Celestions and it sound great that way too....just more like a Marshall.

I love the tone of this amp. It gets quite distorted at high volumes but that is what it's for.

Reliability : 8
This amp is built like a rock. It uses eyelets and everything is hand soldered so it is easy to mod if you wast. I have only had it for a couple of months but I have pounded this little thing pretty good so far and it still works. So far so good.

Simply the best. Right down to tweaking the amp before delivery.

I have been playing for forty years...lots of different styles but mostly rock. I have a Trinity 18 and 15, Two Rock Opal, Bluesbreaker Combo, '71 Deluxe Reverb Amp, and just got rid of a Kingsley D30T :((.

The Deluxe is definitely a keeper. Great tone, very portable and a tone all it's own. I got the amp because of it's simplicity and purity so I do not wish it had anything else. I DO wish that some of my other amps had a channel that sounded like this though.
