USA made. Mine is dated 1998. This was my dads amp. He bought it new for around $600. It's very loud for a 2x12 which is the nicest feature to me. There's a mix button that lets you mix the clean tube and overdrive together. Each channel has separate volume and tone controls. Blows away my dads Marshall!

I have a Schecter Tempest and a mid 90s Fender Strat. My Schecter sounds pretty wicked thru this amp. The Strat is ok for clean sounds but its got single coils so it's buzzy. I'm playing alternative rock and metal so its a good fit. The amp I had before this one was a Line 6 2x12 Spider which wasn't very powerful. I like putting my dads vintage pedals with his Les Paul in front of this amp on the clean channel because I just now understand what to listen and look for in a good amp with good tones. The distortion channel on this amp is heavy and pefect for alt rock. It's not made for nu-metal sounds. But when I put my Rocktron Dragon pedal thru the clean channel it sounds like a Mesa Triple Recto.

My dad said he had the amp worked on once a few years ago. I guess its ok. Its heavy!!!!!!! My Line 6 2x12 was light and easy to carry but sucked for volume and sound. I'm totally digging the whole vintage amp thing. No one else I know has one so it makes for good amp talking.

Not sure what this means. If I ever have a problem we would take it to a local store for repairs.

I've been playing guitar and bass for just about six years. My dream amp used to be a Marshall stack but I'm happy my dad gave me this amp. I'd still like to have a stack one day but for now I'm good. If I find another 2x12 cab that fits under this amp I will make my own stack. I can't find any photos or info on this amp so I take my dads word for it when he says its rare. I would buy another if it was stolen.

Standard combo features. Nice "mix" switch for tube/solid state. The 7100 Dual is most versatile ??? more so than its little brother the 7100 112 ??? in the areas of sound(s). The effects loop in the back is a plus. The only downside is its weight... I give it a low 9. It's quite heavy and substantial. It definitely adds to the "feel" of quality though.

My opinion is it's very much like the older (1970s) Marshall 50w combos. In fact, side x side, they're identical in clean tones. The exception is that the Tube Works Dual 212 is much more powerful... fills the room and then some. There's a significant "feel" to playing in front or along side this amp. Not quite sure how to explain but you really hear and feel the notes together.

I've owned mine for four years. Though I've never abused it physically, it has taken its share of music styles well. It's holding up quite well. It's rock solid.

I'm a blues/rock player with 28 years in making a living at music, live and studio. I've never used this amp for any studio work. I'm fortunate enough to work with studios with boutique gear. However, the TW Dual 212 has become my main amp for live applications. Sometimes I use a Mesa SC for smaller rooms but that's been seldom with my rediscovery of the TW. Like I said, the weight is a pain, but the sound is worth the effort. I've been skimming ebay just to see if I can find another I can buy and stash away. No luck. I see plenty of the 112s but not a single DUAL 212. Add an overdrive pedal in front and you'll kill people.

This amplifier was built in 2001, Allmost indestructable.
It is a very versatil amp which will easily sound like a Genz Benz and Fender Blues deluxe or a marshall... Add a 4-12 cab and it really screams even more..!!!
I use both the tube and the clean side for different songs as well as the mix for some songs as well. I am a Proffessional musician, And I really like this amp.

2 channel amp. I use it at home, in my opinion, far from an amp for live performance. It has one tube 12ax7, I guess that makes it a tube amp. I wish it had more than one tube in it. The manufacturer claims that this is a 100 watt amp, but the sound is waaaay far from even a 35 watt amp.

My stuff: Jackson USA soloist, SD pickups (JB and Jazz). Rock and Jazz. This amp could be used to practice I guess. Noisy unit when used a high volume. Clean and overdrive sounds that can be used combined. The clean channel get a lot distorted past 5 of 10 in volume. Distortion is Ok. This amp sounds horrible when you turn the volume up. I want clean when clean and distortion when distortion. I am using an old crate cr-212 (transistors)to get stereo signal and my 60 watt cheap crate blows this amp away, it is way cleaner at higher volumes and more powerful. It is a shame.

The switch for changing channels broke down and I replaced with a radio shack $2.00 switch. Switches are better when they are not made mostly of plastic. Would not use this amp on a rig.

Have not called the company. The warranty will not cover any other than the original owner. Some parts come with only 90 days warranty.

Poor performer, its alright for a beginner. I liked the way it looks. I don't like the sound and the lack of power with excess of distortion under clean conditions. If you want this amp to vanish for eternity, get a Roland Jazz Chorus (JC-120) and use it next to this one, you will realize the reason for my review and my madness. If this amp was stolen from me, I would just miss the money I spent on it, not the amp. On the other hand, my troubles trying to make it sound good will belong to someone else.

This amp was made in 1998. I use it for straight-up rock playing-- Other features listed below. The "mix" is an interesting feature-- I've been trying to figure it out. You can get your second dirty channel with it if you hook up an OD (I use a Tube Works Real Tube)in front. You can set the mix up between the dirty channel (wherever you want it-- from bluesy dirt to crunch). Then turn up the clean channel until you get the clear articulation that you want for the sound. It almost sounds like two guitars. Then set your OD pedal for your second lead channel. You can only use the mixed channel with the drive on, but with the pedal on, you lose the clean channel (but it must be somewhere). Anyway, it's a pretty novel feature-- I haven't seen it anywhere else. One other thing worth noting-- the reverb is very subtle on my unit. Also, when I run effects through the effects loop and turn the reverb up past 4 it shrieks like a bat. I thought that these combos were supposed to have the Accutronics reverb. Well, whatever that is, it blows.

I play an Epiphone Les Paul Black Beauty with triple humbuckers through this amp. The amp is no noisier than any other 100 watt combo. I've come to realize that most of these tube hybrid combos sound similar with few, if any, exceptions. They are rugged, reliable, less heavy (for the most part), less toneful and more cost effective. They all seem to use the 12ax7a tube for the preamp, though it is little more than window dressing. I owned a RocPro, a Crate hybrid, a Peavey Bandit and have played nearly all the others. The Tube Works is my favorite for the fuzzy, Georgia Satellites, Led Zep rock sound. The mix is kind of fun-- the Reverb is crappy.

Bought it used. Hasn't stood the test of time as yet but I have no doubt that it will. The former owner gigged with it pretty steadily and it seems like it's held up well. I'll give it an 8 for what I think it will do.

The Tube Works 7100 Dual amp is a 100-watt, hybrid (tube and solid-state) combo amplifier with two 12" speakers. It has two channels (one dirty, one clean), an effects loop and a line out to slave another amp or cabinet. It also comes with a footswitch that controls reverb and channel switching. Each channel has its own volume and three-band e.q. with a gain knob on the dirty channel. I bought it new in January 1999.
It's also got an, um, interesting feature called "mix" that allows you to activate both the clean and dirty channels simultaneously. I've owned three Tube Works amps over the years and I have never been able to find a use for it. If there's anybody out there who has, please lemme know.
These features are pretty much dead on for my use, which is gigging in small- to medium-sized clubs.
The only features gripe I have is one for just about every other amp out there: the effects loop should be footswitch controlled. It's ridiculous that Peavey and Tech 21 are the only manufacturers I've seen that offer this on their amps. What up with that? It just don't be makin' no sense, man.
And oh yeah, it would be egregiously cool if this thing had either a second dirty channel or a footswitch-controlled gain boost for the regular dirt channel. Tube Works makes one of the best on-board stank channels around as it sounds good at either low or hi gain. But it's kind of a drag that you've got to stop playing to reset between the two.
Tube Works does offer a model with this feature, but it's about $100 more (dang!). And it only comes in a single 12" combo or a head. So, as you've by now deduced, there's no way to make me completely happy.

I use humbucker-equipped solid, semi-hollow and hollow body guitars for blues and jazz with a little rock 'n' roll thrown in for good measure. This amp covers 'em all well. Really, really well. Although the tube (one 12AX7) only affects the overdrive channel, both channels manage to serve up a warm, tasty tone. It's not quite as warm as an all-tube amplifier, but it comes darn close.
Tell you what: try your favorite rock axe and your favorite jazz axe with this one for comparison and I'll bet you'll be pleasantly surprised. At volumes below 3 with the bass past five and the treble and mid slightly less than that, you'll get a pretty warm and clear tone on the clean channel. For rock and blues, the clean channel will serve you well at higher volumes. I used a semi-hollow body (Heritage H-555) with the treble up and mid and bass lower and the 7100 gave it a nice, full bite that was reminiscent of a Marshall I used to have, only better. Don't misunderstand; this thing ain't a Marshall, but to my ears, it holds its own quite nicely.
Now, I know for a fact that the clean channels on Tube Works' small combos overdrive at higher volumes, and this one probably does, too. However, I've never had it up high enough to find out. Since it's pretty loud, trying to get gain on the clean channel would probably result in property damage.
This amp sounds good both loud and quiet. However, at higher volumes, you have to keep the bass below 5 or it'll start farting out. Maybe it's a humbucker thing because I've pretty much had this problem with every amp I've owned, which numbers somewhere around 14.
The stank channel is well, very stanky! But in a good way. A good blues overdrive can be achieved here with the gain at about 1. With the mid at 5, it stays tight and defined, unlike some other amps. However, it could be a little warmer for my taste. As with most two-channel amps, the 7100's O.D. channel is voiced differently from the clean channel. So, when you switch, it doesn't sound like you're distorting your clean signal, but rather a different amp: The mids increase, the bottom decreases and you're left with a signal that's starker and not quite as juicy as its next-door neighbor.
But if shred's your bag, jump the gain to 5 and you can do that, too. And at 10, this thing loses it mind! We're talking buzzsaws and mucous here, folks.
It's definitely loud enough. At a recent hall gig with about 200 people, I had the volume between 3 and 4 (out of 10) and it did just fine. This was with two saxes, a drummer, a bassist (who's got a fairly big rig himself) and another guitarist.

I got the Tube Works phone number from their website and called 'em up to ask some pretty basic questions. These folks are great: if the first person couldn't answer my questions, they quickly found somebody who could. I like that.
Also, the store where I bought the amp from (Music Castle in Royal Oak, MI) is only 7 miles away from me and the staff there is pretty cool.

I've been playing for 23 years and have owned 'em all: Fender, Marshall, Peavey, Crate and some others, both tube and solid state. Most were cool, but this amp is probably the best suited for me because of its versatility. I can't say the tone is perfect, but I like it a lot. The only overall gripe I have is that the amp wasn't free! But considering that we live in a time where you've got folks spending frightening amounts for amplifiers, I think I got a heckuva good deal.
