No Idea what year it is, it is a 400s 210, with two inputs, preamp volume with pull out for H.B, clipping, bass, trebble, reverb, and master volume. It has a line out for external speaker and inputs for foot switches for the clipping and reverb. I use it for all situations whether it be practice or a live show. I usually play my Les Paul through it but have also played my Martin Acoustic through it using a Barcus Barry pickup. It sounds great and I can't imagine what I'd replace it with.

Sound Quality : 7
The amp has a great clipping and reverb channel (I love reverb) and can get pretty good distortion. As I said before, I usually play my Les Paul through it but have also played my Martin acoustic through it with a Barcus Berry Pickup. I play all kinds of music from country to blues and Rock and Roll and it handles them all very well. I like that I never have to "crank" the volume up too high to get great sound. Very Clean!

Reliability : 9
I've never had any problems with it and have never thought twice about a backup amp at a gig.

This amp is OLD, and I wouldn't even know where to start trying to find who owns the company now. Actually, I had never even seen one of these amps until I bought mine and have been pleasently suprised with it so far. I think mabey Univox bought them out?

I bought it new around 1977. It has two inputs, preamp volume, clipping, reverb, bass, treble and master volume controls. Foot switch inputs for clipping and reverb. Line out. Two 10" speakers, as well as jack for external speaker. Solid state rated at 40 watts. Lots of power, extremely clean volume, a bit weak on bass unless turned all the way up. Works fine for me. I don't use effects much and use pedals when I do.

Sound Quality : 10
I bought it to play with a Westbury solid body guitar, purchased at the same time. I have also used it with my late Gibson ES 175 and my current Epiphone Broadway. Mainly I play it clean with a bit of reverb, with a jazz/swing combo. Great sounds, especially at medium volume. I never have to crank it too loud, but it can handle loud volume cleanly. My son has used it with his Fender tele, with a rock band. That combination worked well together also.

Reliability : 10
I have only had one repair in 26 years, when it started blowing fuses. Repaired for $40 cdn. I rarely concern myself about back-up.

I never dealt with company.

I have been playing off and on for over 40 years. I still use it, although I also have a small Marshall solid state and a small Fender tube amp. I couldn't replace it,as it has been off the market for more than 20 years. I have no desire to replace it with anything in particular. The only other 400 that I have ever seen was used by the great jazz guitarist Sonny Grenwich, from Montreal. I saw him play an Ibanez hollow-body through it on two occasions. He got amazing sounds out of it.

Model 400/210 Lead Combo - 40W, 2 10" speakers, preamp volume, clipping control, treble, bass, reverb, master volume. The Clipping knob is I guess supposed to be a distortion of some kind. All I know is that I never use it cause it's crap. This is a solid state amplifier. All I know is that it says "Manufactured for UNICORD, Westbury, NY". There isn't much information about this amp, other than it was some division of Univox that lasted from 1978-1980, So I would take a guess that this amplifier is EXTREMELY rare. Don't ask me how I ended up with it. It was my dad's amp, and I use it as a practice amp, since it's solid state, and no need to worry about tube life. Push/Pull Volume knob, two inputs, 8 OEM output, reverb output, CLIP output???.

Sound Quality : 8
Since it has 10" speakers, you don't get much bass on this amp. Supposedly this amp is only 45 Watts, but mine says 90 Watts on the back. I guess they mean 45 watts per speaker channel. This amp is EXTREMELY clean, yet it seems to lack low end and midrange. It might be worth it to me to get an EQ pedal and really try to work with this amp, since it has this extremely clean sound (gets somewhat loud as well) without breaking up much.

Reliability : 10
Considering it's from the 70's, and it's been used a crapload with no problems whatsoever, i'd say it's extremely reliable. It's solid state. But there is a pannel underneath the unit to access the giant CAPs, which should probably be replaced. I bet it would change the sound dramatically. Also replacing the original speakers (very weak + small magnets, even for 10" speakers) might add a bit more low end and punch into it.

??? I don't even know what company it is anymore. Supposedly it was bought out by Westbury, and westbury was bought out by an oil company, which was bought then from the oil company by Korg. I have no idea how that happened.

Overall Rating : 8
I think with some simple modifications, like an EQ pedal(DOD EQ) and new 10" speakers, this amp might sound very unique. I'm probably one of about 1000 or so people alive that have ever even seen (remembered seeing) this amp, let alone owned one. Let me know if you have ever played or seen one of these amplifers. I'd think I'd be willing to part this amp to say a collector to be put in a museum or something, so contact me if you'd like. This is a weird amp. If it were ever stolen, I guess that would be the end of it, and i'd probably never see another one ever again.
