single channel class a tube amp with three inputs. has volume, tone and tremelo controls. 12 inch jensen speaker. odd tube selection though... 12AX7 preamp and 2 x 6BM8's in the power section... it has a 6X4 for ?.

Sound Quality : 8
this is a straight forward little amp. super simple, super clean. tone control is very limited. i just switch guitars/pickups for tonal change. more than enough volume for use as a practice amp. the tubes add a nice warmth and grit when used with either a mild overdrive pedal or an over the top pedal like a boss metal zone. decent bass response for a speaker with such a amsll magnet, althoug there is a lot bounce and loosness to it.

Reliability : 7
after the pricey retubing (pricey for a free amp) it has been running solid .

this is a funny little amp a friend gave me a few weeks ago. it is covered in a strange puffy seat cover-like fabric. It had an 8" car stereo speaker installed in it untill i changed it to, temporarily, an 8" speaker out of a Matrix practice amp. its got channels, "main," "aux," and "acc." it has a tremolo, tone, and volume control. (3 knobs) i dont think that the tremolo section is working, i've hooked up several diff. footswitches to it. It is tube. i bought the tubes at an electronic surplus store for a grand total of $3.50. i had to use a solid state substitute for one, but it seems to work just fine.

Sound Quality : 9
this amp sounds pretty good when turned up to the 9-10 range. it distorts really well, but im not sure how much louder it will get when i put a 12" speaker in it. i use a cheap avalon guitar w/microphone pickups which are pretty quiet to begin with, and i think its 45watts, (the amplifier model is U-45 or some U-45 variant) which should be *plenty*. its a nice amp for recording though.

Reliability : 8
it seems to be reliable, but i've only had it for two weeks or so. its pretty sturdy (although i had to reinforce some parts of the case with extra screws.)

it looks pretty weird, but it sounds good and is very portable.

Decent; having the 3 inputs is especially nice, though the lack of a headphone jack is annoying. The tremolo doesn't seem to do much, though there is a footswitch jack. Other controls: volume, tone. It's nice and light, pretty powerful, makes a good practice amp. I dunno what the model number or name is (it's not printed anywhere and I bought it at goodwill for $40).

Sound Quality : 9
Very nice sound; clear, though there is a bit of static and popping when you mess with the controls. The tremolo doesn't do much, but when it's turned off the amp sounds great.

Reliability : No Opinion
Well I bought it at Goodwill and have never heard of the brand before so I have no idea what the reliability is like. Everything looks like easily-replaceable equipment (the speaker itself I think is an upgrade from the original already).

Customer Support : No Opinion
The company is, from what I've gathered, out of business.

Overall Rating : 10
I have a dinky little Frontman 15 (Fender) that is all busted up from using the overdrive too much, and I like the Univox much better. The potential use as like a coffee shop amp is there (the 3 inputs and light weight would make it good for that), though I'm not sure I would trust it for anything serious. However, since I did pay only $40 for it, I'm happy with it.
