ditto, yeah...what he said. for a 1968 amp it has cool features (if they still work). I have 3 univox amps and the effects don't work on any of them, even with various footswitches.

Sound Quality : 10
This is a greta all around amp for any style. With only one tone knob per channel you can get a surprising amount of tone variety. For a 100Watt head with seven tubes it is VERY quiet. The clean channel distorts at about "9" but sounds very warm and crystal clear up to that point. When it begins to distort it is still a very cool overdriven sound.

Reliability : 9
I replaced all of the crappy toshiba tubes with a combo of Telefunkens, RCA's, and Mullards. I also used cleaner on the pots and inards. This got rid of any scratchiness and it has worked terrificly ever since.

I feel like I stole this amp. I got a great deal on a wonderful sounding head. I recommend some old Jensen alnico magnet speakers to realize the true capability of this amp. I wish the reverb and tremolo worked but there are plenty of supplemental effects that can be added. I run a Tubeworks rack overdrive to durty up the sound a bit and it does the trick. I favor the tone of this amp over my Fender Blues deluxe and will probably sell the fender.

originally purchased in 1969, I bought it from the original owner, and for a song, I might add, It, like the review of the 1226 model, had all Mullard pre-amp tubes, and 2 6L6 tubes for the power stage. Has 2 channels, both with 2 inputs, one normal, one bright. Reverb, with a real spring box inside, and tremblo, with an input for controls on the back. The only changes I have made is to replace the power tubes with Groove tubes rated at 5. other than that I have changed nothing. The owner, could not locate the footswitch for the reverb/tremblo, so have done without that. reverb works fine.

Sound Quality : 10
Am playing a 12 string acoustic with a Martin thinline pickup installed, (actually a Fishman)
First going through a DOD GS-30 modeling pedal. The fullness, and sound can be attributed to 3 factors,
1. The amp itself, having Mullard tubes, enhances the warm reproduction of the acoustic.
2. The Guitar is a Martin D12-35 I purchased in 1967, and has an awesome sound by itself.
3. The bottom that is also an original Univox ( see other review on Cabinet model 1005.)has 2 12" red dot celestians(?) and they sound fantastic.

Reliability : 8
I rate it very high for reliability only because it had never been to a shop since it was originally purchased in1969.
I wish all my electronic gear was that solid.!!

There is no support, since the company is gone......

This is a backup, or when I am practicing with the stereo output of the pedal, the other side.
My main amp is a Trace Elliot 'Velocette' twin 10 stereo class A . my baby....!!!
