I like this head quite a bit. In fact I sold my Fender bassman to buy it. I thought it sounded almost the same and for the $200 difference I was more than satisfied. It has two channels, one with reverb and tremolo which work well. I like the reverb and don't get any noise when using it. Very little distortion at high volume, but that waasn't the thin in 1968.

Sound Quality : 10
Fantastic clean sound. Works well with all my guitars including my acoustic (with a preamp). I found the matching cabinet with the original Jensen 12's and a horn. Whoever matched these up in 1968 knew what they were doing. It sounds better than my Celestion vintage 30 cabinet with this amp. Reverb and trem sound great and are footswitchable. Outstanding blues amp with a little bit of added growl from a tubescreamer or othe pedal.

Reliability : 9
Can't really say. I haven't put any money into mine.

Who knows. Are they still in business. there are some web sites with helpful info.

If you can find one with the original cabinet for under $500 get it. Way more versatile than a bassman and a heck of a lot cheaper.

The Amp was made in 1968. This is amp really is incredible. I play anything from blues to Goth rock, and this little guy still handles it well. It's a bitch to distort though, that's why I simply have a petal. It has two channels that are non-swith cable, each with two input jacks. It has everb and tremelo on it with a footswitch that goes in the back for each one of them, but the trem on mine doesn't work too well for some reason I have yet to discover. I don't know what kind of tubes they are, but I do want new ones that I might be able to get the kind of distortion I'm looking for. I use this thing at home for practice and at live showings. I'd like to stop using it as a practice amp, but it sounds so much better than my little 15 watt Squire. i mean why shouldn't it. I son't think it has enough power for me but it's just a little half stack type thing. the cab only has 2 twelves and a high frequency horn. It powers a whole house for a high school auditorium. It is a tube, it has seven of them(five preamp, two power) and a solid state rectifier. For a beginners this is deffinately great if you're in a high school band. Deffinately pre-proffesional.

I run an Epiphone Les Paul with humbuckers through him. I also have a little Ibanez Distortion pedal that i use on it a lot. Its tone can go really low and that's what I like about it. My solos are really fat and I can easily get that synth Smashing Pumpkins sound. The only problem with noisiness I have with it is when I run the reverb. It's a really noisy spring reverb but it's only that way because of complications I've inflicted upon it. The tone can also get very high and twangy, but not so much country twangy, more like Ventures. I can pretty much do anything with it. It's only a 60 watter though. I usually can't distort it unless I'm cranked and playing loud. But after it warms up I can set it at about 7 and it's still a little distorted. The tube distortion I run through it really isn't that great. Well not for heavy stuff like metallica and what not. It's more of an AC/DC or a Pink Floyd sound. But it's really nice for Ventures and blues stuff.

Reliability : 9
The thing is a rock. As for the reverb I don't really know about that. But I take this thing everywhere and it has never given me problems. The original tubes are still in there and they're running fine. I still want to change them though just for personal needs.

Out of business yo

I've been playing this guys since I started playing guitar, so that's been about three years. This is the only thing I have except for the little Squire practice amp and really that's nothing. If it were stolen, I would seek personal revenge against the bastard who dare toy with me. If it were lost I would find it. Partially because of the sentimental value it holds in my heart, but also because it kicks ass. I got it as an heirloom from my grandfather and that's what I love about it so much. SO I think I'm going to say anything good about this am but still it's a nice amp that I wouldn't trade in for the world.
