Don't now how old it is. Still in real good shape, though. Pretty versatile, clean to dirty sounds like two different amps. Overdrive, for solid state, is suprisingly effective with only one depth control, sustain good. I play with a Fender Strat, use the amp strictly for home use. Has very good spring reverb unit. Would be better if the foot switch controlled the overdrive to clean channels instead of on/off reverb. Played through the stock 10" speaker is weak on tone from low to high, as the tone controls don't seem to have enough gain.

The clean channel never distorts. I have added a closed 1/4 speaker jack in the back and play most of the time through a vintage JBL D130 15" speaker in a good cabinet. This thing really drives with the 15. Could play average club as lead no problem. the distortion is overdone for the sweep of the control. Sounds about the same from the # 2 to the # 10 position. Amp is pretty quiet overall.

Been playing 40+ years. Own a 1936 Gibson L5, a Fender Strat, an old Silvertone guitar which I've set up for slide, and a customized 1963 Hofner 183 pro series bass. Have an old Sunn amp for the bass

same features - hi and low gain inputs, headphone, send and return, etc
I'll give it six caus it has a lot of stuff on it, but they don't really do their job all that well

whell, the sound is kind of crappy, tone knobs don't really do much, and the bass gets very muddy, imoh. the reverb is like that of a marshall valvestate, rather sucky, when turned open it kind of sustains very high frequencies and gets all squeely, not much reverb here, allthough it is a bit better than the average marshall (but hey, I'm not a marshall lover). the overdrive chanel is ok, but on my amp it was un usable, caus I wasn't able to switch clean and OD. and on all chanals (especialy with lots of presence) there's this irritating hiss, and noise..

this is an amp you can depend on (working and sucking at it) I wouldn't take it to any gig, cause of the noise, and its overall bad sound. this is almost a good practice amp (allmost) , but I had it for two years now, and it didn't die on me yet.

I used this amp as a starter amp, there I did not know anything bout guitars, a few months ago I bought me a peavey transtube bandit 112, very very good amp (80w rms, lots and lots of nice features, and very cheap) also a solid state, but in no way comparible to this amp. I defenetly think I payed way too much cash for this stuff, you could get a stagg amp for half the price (they suck too, but less).
I used to play it with a crappy guitar, now I have an ibanez jetking, and boss blues driver, along with an overdrive from onerr (not fantastic either) and they all (but one) sound fantastic, but not on this amp.
my advise, don't buy it, and If you were so unfortunate to get one, invest in some proper gear.

Good solution for practice! You have two inputs (lo and hi) for two guitars, 4-band EQ, nice reverberator, mic input and headphones output. One guitarist (having processor with drum machine), one bass-guitarist and one singer can make fully aranged music inside one gear - it's amazing! So many good features in one small device. I like it.

I'm using Litvor LG (Ibanez RG series analog) with DiMarzio SuperDistortion pickups and LaBella strings, also I'm using Washburn Coolprit (Seymour Duncan Dimebucker pickup) and Appolo bass. I'm plyaing mostly power/speed metal with some progressive and jazzy influences. This combo is pretty nice in clean mode on small volume. If you'll add volume you could hear some noise. Overdrive channel is very suxx. Never use it! Buy any stomp box or processor or even tube preamp and make good distortion in clean channel only. Reverb is good and EQ is good enough.

I've been playing about 10 years. I put guitars through Digitech RP200 processor and Marshall Jackhammer pedal into my Crate GX212 solid state amplifier. Good enough. And I gave my VG30R to our bass-guitarist, his bass sounds great! I can play with Vantage sometimes when I need practice at home, but I think it's not good for gigs or recording.

I use this one as a practice amp. I normally play through an expensive 19" rig of Mesa/Boogie + DigiTech + Van Den Hul + alot else gear. But the rack is stationed at the rehearsel room so I needed something to play through at home. And mannnnnn it sounds for sucha small amp and for such a price. I normally plug my Ibanez Universe 7 into it and can get the really Steve Vai tone, scooped metal mids, Jazz Chorus clean (really !!!) bluezy crunch, endless sustain..... This is really good for it's price. Of course it doesn't sound the same as my Mesa/Boogie rack gear, but it sure sounds like one of the best quality/price practice amps I've tried. I wonder how it would sound with a 200 watt solid state poweramp. Just check it out, but compared to many (solid state) amps, it really sounds amazing. Both clean and distorted.

Fantastic low-price practice amp. Can give you a lot of all round sounds and the distortion is quite good!!! I would not gig with it or use it at really high volumes. But for home practice it sounds fucking great and has MORE then enough power!. Both clean as distorted.
For my other gear (mostly Mesa/Boogie 19" stuff) check out www.vanhelden.demon.nl/gear

What is Vantage you ask? I didnt know either until I saw one lying in the music school I go to for my guitar lessons. So I took a crappy Ibanez guitar and plugged it in, since it was the only amp and guitar around. Before I comment on the sound I'd like to list the features. Its a 30 Watt solid state amp with dual channels. It has an Effects loop , 2 inputs (on a 30 watt solid state!), for low and hi gain. It has a headphones jack and a line out jack. It has mid, treble, bass, presence AND reverb controls, plus a gain control and level control for the distortion channel. ISNT THAT AMAZING for a 30 Watt Korean (I am guessing here) solid state AMP?? My Marshall VS30R has half the features! I dont know its price but I will bet anything it costs less than my Valvestate, being Korean (guessing again). it gets a 10 for GREAT features you cant find in ANY low cost Solid state 30 Watt amp!

The clean sound is pretty standard although the headroom and versatility of sound surprised me. It can be bright, it can be dark , it can be anything, depending on your guitar (I played it with Humbuckers, and single coils). It can be LOUUUDD too. Now where this amp REALLY shines is the dirty Channel!! Bring your HIGHEST gain Distortion pedal! I DARE YOU! This amp will kick its butt guaranteed! I couldnt believe how much gain this little mother could spit out! The distortion matches my BOSS Metal Zone precisly! Its got all the bass and mid range you need! Im not kidding! How fantastic for a Solid state amp! the dirty channel can go very loud too. Every amp has its downside (I think) and this one does too. Its noisy! the CLEAN channel is even noisy! hiss everywhere. the distortion channel is REALLY noisy.. but that might be cuz of the Single Coil Ibanez I was playing.

Well I dont know how reliable it is since its not mine, but I play it every week when I go to my guitar lesson, its been almost 6 monthes and its still running great! Keep in mind like 30 people go thru there a day ! The noise might be because of all the abuse its taken.. but I dont know...

Well I really like this amp. I would even dare to say I would have considered this over my Marshall Valvestate, if I had known what Vantage was at the time. Great distortion , good clean sound, a little hissy but nothing unbearable. Wonderful for any guitarist as a practice amp. (I wouldnt go gigging with it its unknown and pretty ugly too). So if you have one within your grasp, go check it out, Im sure you will agree with my review.
