This is a Regal II purchased late in 2007. Very basic features; volume, treble, bass, reverb, and speed and depth for the beautiful tremolo. 15 inch Weber alnico speaker, came with two new manufacture Tung-Sol 5881s, and EH 5U4 rectifier (I think), and some new make pre-amp tubes. All replaced now with NOS, but even out of the box it sounded great. I say "10" very versatile because of the main feature -- the ability to swap all sorts of power tubes and rectifiers without re-biasing.

This amp is amazing. I've gone through my share of amps over time and now have several "keepers" -- BF Princeton Reverb, '64/65 JMI Vox AC30 with add-on TB, Carr Mercury, Reeves Custom 7, and a Valvetrain 205. I don't know if I know great tone but I know what I love to hear, and the Regal II delivers, regardless of power tubes and almost regardless of NOS v. new (oh god did I say that??!!). I've tried one and two NOS 6V6s of various makes and you can hear the Princeton/Deluxe coming out, along with some unique to the Victoria sounds. I've tried one and two NOS 6L6s and am currently running two NOS JAN Sylvanias with a 5AR4 "Sylvania" Mullard and a mix of NOS preamp tubes, and I don't think I've ever heard better. I've never had a 15" speaker in an amp before and was afraid it would overwhelm the small room I play in, but no, it's great even up to 6 or 7 (I'll pull a power tube if I want to crank it). Again, stock with the new make tubes this amp sounded great; with the NOS set I have in it now it truly blows me away. With a Strat in the first "in-between" you can nail Richard Thompson's tones, and with a '67 Gretsch Tennessean or a MIJ Gretsch Duo-Jet it's pure rockabilly, esp. with a touch of the reverb (and that's all you need -- much past 3 and it's surf city, dude). And the trem is amazing; lush, deep, beautiful, but you can dial it in so it and the 'verb are subtile enough to have on for almost anything you're playing. One fault I have with most amps, esp. Fenders, is there's too much bass for me, even dialed off. I can leave this one on 2 and it's fine, and the treble at 6 is perfect. And the grind with one tube and higher volume is great; not heavy/bruta, good harmonic distortion we all lust for.

So far great, but I'm not rough on my stuff. No issues with several rounds of tube changing, though.

No issues one way or the other, but from all I read Marc and Victoria are good to work with.

I've been playing for almost 40 years, but have only been a "tone freak" for about 10 now. I would buy this again if it were stolen; I'm not sure it's the ONLY amp one would ever need (is there such a thing?), although I haven't tried EL34s yet...maybe that'd British it up enough? But I don't need it to do that, really. To my ears it has the qualities of several variations of tweed Fender amps along with some more "not quite Fender" qualities; maybe the Valco/Supro vibe that I'm not familiar with -- if that's what it is I like it! If you're looking for a fantastic sounding amp that can do 5-25W with reverb and trem and that'll work in your home studio or clubs, seriously consider this one. The tube-switching and the amazing sounds you will get make it well worth the price.

Power this amp up and let it sing to you. This amp is amazing and the sounds you can create is limited by your imagination. This amp was made for the playing the blues and whether you have a Tele or Strat running through it will continue to impress you. It is somewhat a mix between a Tremolux and a Super Reverb with the ability to swap out tubes, I currently run two 6L6 tubes.

Like any tube amp you cant throw this thing around but it is very reliable and constructed very well, no vibration issues.

I have yet to call the company but the dealer I work though is top notch and knows this product line well, when I requested a certain sound he dialed this amp up and said "this is the amp you want".

I have been playing for 25+ years and I have a mess load of vintage gear. My main rig is a 64 Blackface Bassman converted to a lead head and I own several 50's-60's amps and this "new" amp will now make it's way to the stage. If this amp were lost or stolen I would be depressed and would call Victoria for a replacement.

New Regal II recently purchased.
Tube swapping mixing and matching on the fly EL-34, 6L6, KT-66, 6V6 one OR two tubes is a very cool feature! It's like owning several amps. Rest of the features are straitforward and simple the way I like 'em so I can't ask for anything more. Works great with classic blues, country, early rock, swing and jazz. Not a high gain or high volume amp, so it won't do death metal. Weight wise, it's around 50 lbs so it's not a hard amp to lug around.

Doesn't sound like a Fender OR a Marshall. Has it's own thing going on. Great cleans but I really dig the raunchy yet focused grind it gets. Sounds like it was made back in the 50's. Great for slide playing. Maybe it's the 15" speaker but I never heard my Strat sound better. Great low end, clarity, and chime. Touch sensitivity to the max. Hard to turn off!! Only concern is having enough volume with a loud drummer/bass player but we play too loud anyways! Forgot to mention I got lost in the reverb last night. Great vibrato throb.

The Regal II is a special amp design. I judge a great amp by how easy it is to get a great sound without a lot of fooling around and the Regal II delivers at any setting with single coils or humbuckers. I tried a mix of 6L6 and EL34s last night and it made the amp sound even more monstrous. Really fits the definition of a desert island amp. Not trying to hype this bad boy but this is my first HC review and I don't often ramble on like this unless it is really kick ass.

This is a 2006 Model Regal. It is a simple amp - a good thing - that has Volume, Treble, Bass, Reverb and the two Tremeolo controls. The Regal has the ability to work on a variety of power tubes: one OR two 6L6 or 6V6 or even EL-34's. This allows a fair amount of flexibility for various situations. Frankly, I uce two 5881's 99% of the time, but two 6V6's are also awesome (as is one 6V6). It is 28 watts max; for some people that may be underpowered I admit, but it has not been a problem for me. Ok, I have not used it at a festival, but it has been fine at outside gigs. Its greatest feature is its sound.

This is just a smoking amp, period. The sound is deep, rich, burn- ished, and big. Clean sounds are good, and it does the raw thing in a major way. It really has that 50's vibe, plus beautiful reverb and tremolo. I play old-school blues, stylistically pre 66 (maybe) and it fits my style perfectly. My main guitar is a goldtop with P-90's, but archtops, Fenders, Teisco's and everything sounds great through it.

I have 28+ years experience, and have played too many classic, reissue and hand-made amps to list them all. I still have Matchless Lightnings and other Victorias, but this is what I have used exclusively for the last ten months. I love the sound, and the look. It's an easy haul - there's really nothing bad. Maybe I don't like that it makes me ignore mmy other amps? I have had two people buy these after seeing/hearing me and THAT is pretty amazing. Yes, I want another one!
