This is a hand wired point to point 22 watt amp based on the Fender AB763 circuitry, Orange and Spargue caps, Mercury Magnetics transformers with two 10" Weber California Speakers. Power tubes are Ruby 6v6GT and preamp tubes are ATX7 ( Mullard)

This is a two channel amp but each channel is voiced differently.. Channel one has the "brown sound" and channel two has the classic black face sound. Tremolo and reverb work in both channels. You can run your guitar through an A/B switch and get two different sounding amps. Comes with a footpedal for tremolo and reverb. Both by the way are lush.. Speed control for the trem.. Awesome. I don't use the trem much but the reverb adds some beef to an already sweet sound.

Rick also has bass, treble and mid controls to dial in the tone just like you want. No effects loop, headphone jack, ect.

Sound Quality : 10
I have waited several months before writing this review just to break in the speakers. Oh My God!! this amp sounds great. The bass is tight and full. The high end is smooth. I won't try to describe "tone" but this amp sounds awesome. Full, rich and detailed. At first I was not turning the treble and bass up enough. Then I cranked them up to 5 or 6 and turned the mid up to about 4 with the volume on 5 and the amp sounded awesome. These Weber Cali have a rich vintage sound. I tried the Weber 10F150's but that was not the sound I was looking for. The 10F150s did not sound bad they just did not have the bass response or the harmonic richness of the California speakers.

I should mention that Rick normally installs Weber California speakers unless requested to do otherwise. He said as we started this project that if I didn't like the sound send the speakers back and we could try something else.

Playing guitar is a hobby for me. I play mainly classic rock and blues at home. Rarely have it loud enough to get any "tube distortion" before wife and/or kids complain.

Reliability : 10
I only play out at a friends house. I would not hesitate to take the amp. It is extremely well built. Comes with a nice cover.
When I got it one of the power tubes blew. Rick sent a matching set to replace the next day. I installed them and have had no trouble.

Customer Support : 10
It is a leap of faith to buy an amp over the phone sight unseen and without hearing it for goodness sakes.. But Rick the owner of Vintage Sound Amps has done everthing he said he would and then some. Replaced power tubes when one went out and swapped out speakers when I said I would like to try a different set. He has been great to work with from the first phone call. I highly recommend purchasing an amp from Vintage Sound.

I have known how to play some chords since the late 60's but didn't understand the guitar at all. I just started to learn the guitar and how to play it in the last year or so. And there's plenty of room for improvement but its fun. I wanted an amp that would sound like the music I was trying to play. Love the blues, SRV, BB King, Eric Clapton and others. Didn't need a huge amp just one that sounded good. Liked the Fender sound( used to have a Fender Jazzmaster and Deluxe Reverb as a kid. Foolishly sold them both) but decided that a Twin Reverb and Supereverb were too loud for the home. Played some vintage Fender Vibrolux's at the local guitar shops. They were the right size and they sounded great but were all pretty beat up and expensive. On top of not really knowing what additional service expense I would run into.

After a lot of shopping for vintage amps, Vintage Sound started to make so much more sense. Hand wired point to point amp with new high end components priced less than the Vintage amps I was looking at locally and on Ebay. Guaranteed for five years.

If this amp were stolen I would immediately get Rick to build another one. I love it and can't wait to play it when I get home.
