This is a 2008 model and it's basically the 50 watts version of the 1959 100 watts head.I sent it to Voodoo Amps looking for that Ratt classic 80's sound.They did the Platinum Jos?? Arredondo mod on the amp.
like all Plexis they don't have too many features.This one is a reissue so it does have a FX Loop.I did ad a global mids knob and a gain boost switch.The high treble knob is now the Master Volume and the Normal Treble is now a gain knob.I use it at my home studio.It does deliver more than enough power to gig outside.I will not rate the amp on this category because Plexis are for those who like the very simple things of an amp: sound and power.

I'm using it with a Peavey Wolfgang Custom Shop model and a Rickenbacker 650 modified to a full humbuckers.Dimarzio EVH and Seymour Duncan Black Backs.The amp is perfect for those who are looking for that Ratt,Dokken,Whitesnake,Motley Crue's sound.The amp will deliver exactly the tone and power without any other effect or overdrive pedal at very lower volumes.No need to use a hot plate anymore.Almost no noise at all.All knobs are very responsive and articulated.You can go from vintage distortion to high gain distortion in seconds.

Can't tell yet.The amp has been at home only for 2 days.Reading the Voodoo Amps reputation I'm sure it will last forever.

How many times do you call or e-mail a company and get a response from its President? Trace is just amazing,patient and will answer all you 235 plus questions.It tooks me about 6 months to finally buy the amp from him.The guy did answer all my questions and concerns for that period of time.

I have been playing for only 6 years.I have been spending heavy amounts of money looking for the tone and sound I finally have.There is no single guitar or amp I haven't try in my search for the tone.This is the place to go if you are an 80's sound junkie like me.Stop buying guitars and effects units,you can get close but you will never going to nail the real authentic sound this amp can deliver.Their prices are not for everyone but at the end you will save a lot of time and money if you go directly to the real thing.
