My amp is a Marshall 50-watt, tube, 2x12, non-master volume combo built 1974. I had Voodoo amps put in their VMP mod and I'm blown away! I've been a tone geek since late 1970's and didn't realize what I was missing in the Marshall until Trace and his gang did their, uh, "voodoo!" The amp IS now master volume but also includes a gain switch (call it regular/ridiculous for character) and a "sweep" knob so I'm able to dial in good tones for Fender Strats and Gibson guitars. I considered foot-switching channels but instead, I'm gonna buy a Voodoo head.

In addition to modding the amp (I understand I have the first VMP mod done as production) I had Voodoo Amps put in the Celestion greenbacks (25 W) for speaks and whoa nelly. Suddenly I'm playing classics/progressive/Robin Trower tones galore. Further, I'm able to load a few stomp boxes PRIOR to the amp input and get some great mixes. Finally, due to open back on the speaks, the sound just disperses wonderfully! And yes, this amp does METAL!!!!! This category should go to 11.

So far I've had this baby over a month and it's running true to form! At first there was a faulty volume pot that Trace left in (Trace is sensitive to original equipment and it's value - if you want ultimate restoration, ask him to replace all the pots regardless - he gives you a bag of the replaced components anyway so you'll have them with the amp) but Trace replaced it no charge - that's service! This thing cranks. I've been a gigger for a while and tube amps can be fickle by nature so with understanding, I'm giving this a 10.

The folks at Voodoo Amps are simply fantastic. They're personable, cut jokes frequently and basically just work their arses off so you're getting what you want. In short, best bang for the buck I've seen thus far. Further, Trace and the dudes LOVE to talk gear with anyone so feel free to ask questions; express your opnion, and just exchange info at will!
This is especially important to note: Trace has clients from us simple dudes to the rock stars themselves and no one is exempt from his decency and overall good character.

Hands down this amp is simply the one item I hold in highest value. It's SO hard to dial in good tone (even more-so with digital equipment these days) so when you find amps that just deliver sweetness galore, you'll probably think the same thing. I have a collection of old amps and one-by-one each will be afforded the Voodoo Amp tickle of awesomeness.
Just wish it weren't so dang heavy... (humor) :)

built in 1987. 2 channels, master volume of course. This amp had no balls whatsover nor did it have proper tone to it. Trace and the crew at voodoo changed the transformer, tubes, and whatever magic it is they do (maybe voodoo?) and they turned this thing into a workhorse !! I can pince harmonic now and let that note ring and ring ... loads of sustain. I had the deluxe mod done to the amp.

Les paul custom with ZW emg set installed. GMW Randy Rhoads Polka dot V which is on its way to me. EVH RR ZW Hendrix SRV all the greats, I can simulate now. Clean channel does not distort at high volumes maintains it's clarity, distorion is pure, warm, not that digital sounding $%^& that everyone else makes, this is a hot rodded Voodoo marshall !!!

almost 2 yrs. I have purchased peavys xxx series, marshall mg series which totally suck by the way !! I wanted a decent marshall and not the new tsl or dsl series, not to thrilled about them, and this Voodoo amps modded jcm 800 is what I want for tone !! I would like a jcm 800 2203 head with full cab but i may go the Voodoo hex or witch route. There cabs are sweet looking and if there heads sound better than my modded marshall.... that would be insane! I will probably purchase one in the near future!!

I use MJ Mirages PRS, and Les Pauls w/ both single coil & Humbucker pickups.Musical style ranges from power pop Goo Goo Dolls style to British pop of the Who & Oasis. I run the amp wide open with a THD hotplate, but it is wey quiet. Tones range from nicely compressed AC30 clean to hotrodded Super Lead distortion.

I have been playing for 20 years and have owned amps from Soldano to Mesa Boogie, and many different Marshalls. This is definately the way to go. Buy a classic amp and take it to experts to tweak the sounds the way the pros do. Would definitely have another one made if it was stolen or lost.
