This is a 2002 Marshall TSL122 combo amp modified by Trace at Voodoo Amps. This amp has three channels (clean, crunch, & lead). Before the modification this amp sounded ok. But after the mod it now sounds GREAT!
VERY VERSATILE NOW!

Sound Quality : 10
I'm using this modified amp with the following: 1994 Fender American Standard Strat with EMG pickups. The Strat goes into a Fulltone Clyde Deluxe Wah, Fulltone 70's pedal, Fulltone Deja Vibe, Fulltone Fulldrive II, then in the effects loop I use a Fulltone CF-1, the finally into a Maxon AD-900 Analog Delay. Now for the good stuff. Trace modded this amp into a monster! Before the mod this amp sounded muffled, fizzy/buzzy distortion, low end was very loose sounding. So Trace changed the circuitry which he said is responsible for 50% of the sound. Then he changed the output transformer to a OEI 100 watt output transformer which he said is responsible for the other 50 % of the tone. Let me tell you, when I got the amp back, it did get GOD like tones. The amp was much tighter in the low end. Also, it cleaned up nicely when the volume was turned down. This is an option I liked alot. You can get so many different tones this way. After all, the transformer is a plexi transformer. The clean sound was changed to my taste. He modded the clean channel to sound like a Fender. It sounds like a Fender (chimey/airy top end) with a little marshall compression. The crunch channel sounds like a classic Marshall plexi. It crunches, soars, and cleans up nicely by rolling back the volume. The lead channel is awesome! It basically takes off from where the crunch channel left off. I LOVE this channel for lead and also for chord work. Like I said before VERSATILITY! I just told Trace what some of my influences are (Hendrix, Rush, Skynyrd, Meters, etc.) and he nailed those tones. I believe anything is possible with this guy. If your looking for great tone call this guy! www.voodooamps.com

Reliability : No Opinion
So far so good. I just got the amp back so I really can't comment on this. I would imagine it will hold up. His work is top notch.

THE best in the biz. Trace is a great guy. I was amazed how fast he did these mods. I sent the amp to him and it only took him two days to do the mods and then two days later it was shipped back to me. So it only took four days from when the amp arrived to his shop. He is very helpful and very honest. He won't steal your money basically. He told me that he might not be able to do the transformer because it wouldn't fit in the TSL122 because of the plastic handles on the side of the amp. He said that he knows of some people that just cut a small hole on the plastic handle. So I told him to do the mod. When I got it back I did just what he said and it fits perfect. A minor alteration for such a major difference in tone. It was definately worth it! Also, I wanted to change the stock tubes and he recommended Ruby tubes for the pre and Electro Harmonix for the power tubes. I was a little skeptical at first because I've never used those tubes before but it was another good call by Trace. It is just another integral part of the tone. Thanks Trace! His warranty covers all the modifications. He stands by his work. Note: it doesn't cover any of the original parts that were modified.

I've been playing for 17 years now. I have to say this is the best amp I've ever played through. I use each channel of this amp to it's fullest. Even though I spent some cash on this mod. He actually saved me money because I'm thinking about selling my distortion pedals. I really don't need them. This amp sounds great without any distortion pedals. I truley love this amp now. Each channel sounds great on it's own. Clean sounds very Fender'esq. Crunch channel sounds just like any classic guitarist who use a Plexi. Lead channel sounds GREAT too. When I first played through the modded lead channel it sounded just like Warren Haynes of the Allman Bros./Gov't Mule. I would say it sounded more like the Gov't Mule sound, very thick and crunchy. Awesome sound. Each channel has great harmonics and nice lengthy sustain. All in all the perfect amp. If this amp were ever stolen I would definitely go this route again. Perhaps I would do a half stack next time.
