This was a stock TSL 212 combo before Trace at VooDoo got his magical hands on it. You know, three channels of pretty much unusable Marshall fluff. The clean channel had no pop or spank to it, the crunch channel was everything but crunchy and the overdrve channel was a over-compressed,rather noisy mess. Trace soon solved all the aformentioned problems and then some with his wonderful modifications.

I use a guitar which I built myself. It is a curly maple carved top over a mahogany body a maple neck with an ebony fingerboard. The bridge pickup is a Bill Lawrence XL500 and the neck has a Dimarzio humbucking strat style pickup. The amps tone was barely acceptable and it needed to be cranked up to a very high stage level to get anything decent out of it. As you can imagine my bandmates weren't to pleased with this arrangement. It also caused me to "choke up" on my playing. You just couldn't loosen up and bang away at the guitar without blowing everyone else on stage away. After the mod this thing absolutely sings at any volume. The crunch factor is right there like an old "plexi". The bottom end is very tight and controlled and the top end sparkles. The clean channel is very Fender like with a full round tone and plenty of "spank". Trace also modded the "tone shift buttons" so I can get a standard Marshall crunch or a Hot Rodded custom sound which is super fat and beefy. On top of this the noise and hiss I had before was brought down to a minimum. This amp could go up against any "boutique" amp at any price and come out on top.

I can't really comment on this as I haven't had the chance to put the amp through the mill yet, but playing 70-90 shows a year plus practices will tell me what it's made of soon enough. Trace is also the kind of guy who stands by his work, so I'm not worried about it in the least.

Again I have no concerns over any problems or questions I may have in the future with the mod work on this amp. I was under a time crunch with getting the work done on this amp and Trace came through for me. I brought the amp to him and he worked on it while I waited! On top of that he did it at his own house on his day off!!!! What can I say, Trace delivers what he promises and he's a hell of a nice guy to boot.

If I lost this amp tommorrow I would buy another and have the exact same mods done to it. The tone is breathtaking and once you experience it you won't want to be without it. This amps tone was custom tailored to my ear, what more could you want. You do yourself a great injustice not to at least check out what Trace at VooDoo Amps can do for your tone. As Trace himself told me "You know man,Lifes to short to have bad tone."
