3 channels (clean , drive and lead)
all in one!!!

Sound Quality : 9
i use a twin reverb 65 amp with fender strat, and a gibson custom 355.
up until now i have used and replaced many peddals, among them
the ibanez tube king, sans amp classic, ibanez ts9.
there is no best or worse, just diffrent.
i still have them all together and i use eache one for diffrent sound.
but when the v twin is working the sound signal comes out better,
it improves the sound of your guitar on any channel you use.
i use mostly with the lead sound ,i have allways had the problem with distortions that could not give me a 70s classic sound and a steve vai more agression in one.
the v twin is the only one that dose it.
pure proffesional!!!

Reliability : 10
i allways say take good care of your gear ,
and it will never fail you down.
it looks like it was built in an army and been tested to face
Nuclear Bombs .

i have been playing guitar and making music for over 15 years,
and i have seen and heard a lot of pedal , this one beats the high standarts of sounds.

this is truely should be a pro's choice.

I had Trace of VooDoo Amps try and balance out the diffence in volume between the lead and clean channel...I've never seen an amp or pre-amp that had a louder clean channel than lead one. I also wanted him to try and tackle the overbearing compression in the lead channel. I was basically looking for a good thick Stoner/Doom Metal sound a la Melvins, Electirc Wizard, Sleep, High on Fire, Acid King etc...

Here is the difficult thing to judge with the V-twin because it sounds completely different with each piece of gear I use it with. For me it always seems to sound better with active pickups (I use EMG 81's) especially for the lower tuned stuff (B). The v-twin is awful as a distortion pedal because of the delay between by-pass and "on" but it really likes being a full-on pre-amp. I've put it in front of different heads and combos and it usually sounds lousy but in front of my Sovtek MIG100H (which also is modded by Trace but the clean sounds of the amp basically sound the same) it sounds really damn good. But as a complete pre-amp it seems most at home and has a lot more gain for some reason.

As of now I'm currently running it into a Mesa 20/20 power amp into a Mesa 1x12" Thiele EVM cab and a 4x10" Mesa bass cab. On the bass amp side of the power amp and inbetween the power amp and v-twin I have a SansAmp Bass Driver to accentuate the low-end frequencies. I must admit that it sounds very fucking good. I have some pretty good gear and other pre-amps including an ADA MP-1 but the v-twin is now finally holding it's own. This gives me a different sound from my Sovtek or Marshall JCM 800 2210. But again I've tried the v-twin in other situations and it's sounded lousy but Trace definately improved the living hell out of it and with the right set up it sounds absolutely amazing. For my rating I'm giving it a 10 with my current set up but keep in mind I think this pre-amp is best for people with a lot of different types of gear.

Very solid.

Mesa has good customer support but absolutely nothing like Trace at VooDoo Amps. When I picked up my v-twin at the ups hub I opened it up in the car and found this weird bubble wrapped thing...I opened it up and found 3 very nice cigars. Trace is also very patient with all of my stupid amp questions and goes out of his way to make sure his mod's suit your needs. Many amp techs just do one or two mods and are not at all tailored to the individual user.

Overall Rating : 10
I only wish I had more money to have all of my gear modded by VooDoo Amps....they also make their own custom heads which I'd really love to pickup up but as a teacher with a mountain of student loans to pay back it's hard. My v-twin gives me a great unique sound that my other gear, while great sounding in their own right just didn't have.
