Voodoo Amps Traynor YCV80 Mod

My Traynor is a 2002 YCV80 2 by 12 combo...80 watts, reverb, 2 channel. this review is on my experience with Trace and the VooDoo Amp crew and the mod. I drove 4.5 hours to have this mod done, check out the VooDoo crew...It was worth it. As far as I know my Traynor YCV80 is the first they have done and first YCV80 I know of that has been modified. Trace and Anthony were informative, very outwardly friendly NOT AT ALL arrogant, highly efficient and performed work quickly and with skill. The results are startling, well worth the cost and I can offer first hand experience VooDoo amps is a top shelf outfit.

Stock YCV800 is very nice IMO but grainy, fuzzy and vague in the dirty channel. Pleasing, great bang for the buck but I wanted more. Trace opened the "can", replaced alot of parts (I didnt ask) and the end result is making a veyr good amp and EXCELLENT amp. Distorion channel is MUCH cleaner, MUCH more refined and all frequencies are noticably sharper, smoother and more articulate. The bass has improved alot...tighter and cleaner. If you have a YCV80..get this mopd...no kidding.

I have been around extremely high end audio electronics as a professional for over 25 years..seen tons of mods and tons of modders. VooDoo rate up there with the best. They are very approachable, honest, experienced and just great all round guys. I spent the day there, ate 2 meals with them...VERY gracious folks. As far as reliability, my amp worked 100% perfect when the amp was re-assembled. It was re-assembled perfectly and I assume will work perfectly..

A-1, world-class..the best. Kind, considerate, experienced, unassuming people....IMO destined to beome the "next" big amp company if you seek "Tone of the Gods" and dont want to deal with arrogant jerks and rediculous prices. I've been around tubes for over 25 years..alot of tube designers are jerks, I dont care how good their products are. Most are wayyy overpriced...VOODOO AMPS rocks, these guys deliver world-class tone, you feel a part of a "family" and their prices are sane..

IMO most amps bought new need "something" to make them what they are supposed to be in terms of sound and the "tone" we all live for. While the bean-counters at the average amplifier company whittle down performance in the name of "price & profit", its great to know fol;ks like Trace, Anthony at VooDoo Amps are here to set things straight..and DELIVER. The mod they did on my amp gave an amp I liked alot...and made it an amp I love. The Traynor YCV80 (to me) is a great amp for the dollar)..I know have an amp I'd have had to spend 3-4 times the money to get....for less than $400. While doing this process I learned alot from the VooDoo crew, had a great time and the food was great too !! these guys blow away any mods your local tech could do..trust me. They stand behind their work 100%. IMO you can send them your amp and be sure when it comes back its going to rock your world...for very little money. Bravo !!
