Features : 10
Year amp was made: 2005
This amp was designed on Trace's take on Ken Fischer's Trainwreck. I played a Trainwreck once before , and I had some idea what the Trainwreck sounded like. As has Trace , he told me he's had the experience of playing Fischer's original Trainwreck and was quite intigued by it. He understands the original Trainwreck's circuitry and sound. This is Trace's version of the original Trainwreck. Trace told me it's very similar to an original , but he said it's his version of it. He wants people who buy this amp to know that. His version of this amp is just incredible. I've never owned any Trainwreck clones , I've heard that Komet amps makes one , but i've never heard one before.
Features are: one "mains" power switch , one "standby" switch. Controls are: presence , bass , middle , treble. It also has a "high treble" control (is the amp's main volume control) , and a "normal" control (which is the amps ppiv and acts as the amp's master volume). It has only one input for the guitar (and believe me that's all this amp needs!) It also has 2 speaker output jacks located at the rear of the amp. And that's it.
Believe me this all you need to be in tone heaven! Trace installed the master volume on my request and Thank God I asked to have that done. This amp when pushed all the way on the "normal" control is unbeleivably powerful and loud. I think I've only had it all the way up once. It is rated at 50 watts and uses 2 - EL34 power tubes and 3 - 12AX7 preamp tubes , and is all handbuilt point to point circuitry. Trace uses Mercury Magnetic Transformers. These are the best tranny's out there!
It can be one loud and powerful amp trust me , but it is extremely responsive to your guitar's volume knob , you can go from clean to insanely sustaining midrange , overdrive with a flick of your guitar's volume knob. Or simply use the master volume and you can get sustaining overdrive at living or bedroom levels.

Sound Quality : 10
I can use any guitar with this amp and it sounds completley incredible with any of them!
I have a Gibson Historic Les Paul , a Suhr Classic strat , and a Suhr Classic Tele. I also have on order a Detemple Spirit Series '56 Strat and '52 Tele. I can't wait to play them on this incredible amp!
This amp suits my musical styles perfectly , I play mostly classic hard rock....Zeppelin , Hendrix , Floyd , Stones , blues and rockabilly. This amp can nail them all.
It has a beautiful clean tone , on low levels up to about 2 on the volume control (which is still plenty loud and full) , you can have clean and well balanced or turn the control up and get a slight breakup for some killer sounding blues , after 2 on the volume it becomes more and more overdriven , all the way to the point where you can have an incredible midrange sustain , beautiful sustaining highs and toneful and deep lows all with a very toneful warm and vintage vibe. It's just incredible. And extremely well balanced from top to bottom , even when dimed the balance is incredible , the clarity of every note and string is perfectly balanced.
The low-end on this amp is the deepest I've ever heard. I also have a '73 Marshall 50 watt Lead and I'm constantly A/B'ing these amps together and the midrange and low-end of the VWreck wins hands down!
This amp also is very addicting to play , the notes just come flying off the fretboard. And the tone is so warm and sensitive. It's just the best , very addicting and inspiring (I can't over-emphasize that enough , it's really that good). I play it with a 2x12 cabinet that is loaded with 2 - 30 watt greenbacks. Playing this amp with my Echoplex is a dream.
I have no doubt a 4x12 cab would sound amazing.

Reliability : 10
Reliability is excellent.....I've had it for a year and have played it at least a few hours every week and have not had a problem with it.
Trace has answered any calls or emails I've ever sent him. He has listened and talked to me about any questions or concerns I've had.
This man knows his amps.

Customer Support : 10
Customer Support is top-notch. Everybody at Voodoo Amps are guitar and gear addicts that are as much into your amps as you are yourself.

Overall Rating : 10
I've been playing for about 12 years now and have owned everything from early '50's Fender Tweeds , late '50's Tweeds , Fender early '60's Brownfaces , Blackfaces , Silverfaces , a '71 and '72 Marshall 50 watt leads , a '66 Supro etc...

The amps I have in my collection now are a '56 Fender Deluxe (all original) , '58 Bassman (all original) , '64 Deluxe Reverb , '66 Pro Reverb , '66 Princeton Reverb and a '73 Marshall 50 watt Lead (small box)
This amp easily rates up there with all of them. If I had to get rid of all my amps and keep only 2 or 3 it would the '58 Bassman , the VWreck and my '66 Pro Reverb.

I just love this amp , and I highly reccommend it to anyone out there reading this and wondering. If you are searching for the tones I have described here , I have no doubt this amp will blow you away!
Give Trace a call and ask him about it , trust me you'll be glad you did!
Get ready to own a lifelong companion.
